Advanced Bots in Normals.

My story starts like any other, I queued up for a evening League game just after eating a ton of hot dogs. It was norms, so I didn't expect much. Through my hot dog-impaired thoughts, I just went through the motions. Ban, pick, wait. I was watching a video during the champ select stage since I thought this game would be nothing special.

oh how wrong I was

Turns out when we entered the match, these messages showed up. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/190702743181066242/297579288193138688/unknown.png

I was confused for a second. Advanced bots testing? In a normal game? On the live servers?? "Wow I must have eaten too many hot dogs", I thought to myself, but no, it was very real. The enemies had names like "Lucian Bot" and "Rammus Bot". You could even see that the Rammus gave some sort of prompt like how bots usually do. So, I settled myself. Its cool that Riot would do this type of testing, but I found it odd that there wasn't any announcement for this. The game went on.

At first, the game was normal. I was playing Ezreal Bot with a Blitz supp against a Lucian Bot and a Thresh Bot. Laning phase was not out of the ordinary, but then I started getting hooked a ton. It was one after another. Luckily, I could E away no problem, but still, either this Bot had mechanics or I suck. For a while I stuck with the former, not wanting to accept that I was getting hooked by a bot.

Everything was fine and dandy in laning phase when the jungle Galio on my team wanted to gank. Nothing bad happened on the map yet, and I thought this be a good opportunity to get ahead early. So, the usual gank set up occurs, and off we go. Galio came from the river with no delay, and the Blitz support came running in. I stayed a safe distance, but not far enough where I couldn't engage reliably. The gank was going well.

Then it all went to shit

Both the bots were able to flash Galio's E, but Lucian still got grabbed by our Blitz. We thought we had the kill in the bag until the enemy Thresh threw a lantern with no delay, and in an instant, Lucian grabbed it lightning fast. I thought the gank was over, but then I see the Thresh bot do something extraordinary. As soon as Lucian lay safely behind tower, Thresh bot, in one fluid motion, immediately hooked a max range prediction that caught Galio by the skin of his teeth. The sentence was set, and as quick as he had thrown it, the Thresh bot zoomed right up to the colossus and E'd him straight into tower. Lucian followed up instantly, and a second later, I sit flabbergasted looking at a giant red "First Blood" sit on the screen.

Did a bot just do that??

Everyone involved was juts as confused as I was, except for the bots. They stayed silent in their smugness and continued laning with no delay. "Those are advanced bots for ya" I thought to myself. And indeed, they were.

The game followed the same pattern as the gank bot. Our Quinn top was set against a Renek Bot, but it wasn't going well for her. The Renekton began racking up kill after kill. After he got to a killing spree, I noticed something strange. The Renekton bot had a Level 7 Mastery. What level of detail these bots have! I was still marveling at that small nuance when something happened. I saw an enemy Rammus start zooming out from the tribush behind us, followed close behind by an enemy Vlad Bot. The Lucian and Thresh bot began to rush towards us aswell, and Blitz's and my outcome didn't look to great. I E'ed away with success, but Blitz was not so lucky. He was hooked, and immediately after, chain CCed, gunned down, and hemorrhaged to death. I stood helpless. There was nothing I could do as I saw my laning partner die such a gruesome death. Shortly after, they AI team took the first Dragon with little contest. These bots were organized. These bots were good.

The game continued downhill from there. Everyone on our team was doing badly, except for a moderately well off Zilean mid. All of us, however, were shocked to see bots perform at a suck high level. Zilean still had his doubts however, and to test if they were bots or not, he shouted some extremely profane insults in all chat to get a reaction. It didn't come. The AI team still sat with their silent smugness.

We got smashed in teamfight after teamfight and the bots began to dive more and more. There was one turning moment, however. Everyone on my team was dead or about to die and everyone one the enemy team was quite low. I had just respawned and got Triforce, so I was eager to get some clean up gold. And clean up gold I got. Shortly after running to mid inner, I got a triple kill off of a botched turret dive. I saw a low health Renekton and I still thirsted for more, so I gave chase. I saved my E for when Renek would inevitably dash towards me and I kept my distance. I stood poking him, but he went for a dive. After using his E, I E'd away, but renek used his second proc to catch up. i felt the the crocodile's crescent blade nearly rip me to shreds, but I survived with low health. In order to not die himself, the Renek Bot had to flash away. He was still so low, and I knew his cooldowns were down, so I still gave chase.

That was a bad Idea

After not even a few feet, Renek stopped in his tracks and did something unthinkable. he spammed his mastery 7 and laughed. "Thats kinda weir-" i wasn't even able to finish my thought as a rouge Lucian bot dashed out of the jungle and popped a cap in my bitch ass. I sat shocked even more, but the only thought that ran through my head was "Thats some nice programing Rito, holy crap".

In the end. we lost the game. The bots went through their usual prewritten "GG!" code and we found ourselves in the end game screen. Then a messaged popped up.
