League needs to add these things in their tutorial.

Ward Tutorial -What are they? -Where should you place them?

Lane Role Tutorial -What each role is, what they do. -What you should generally build on each role (not a freaking thornmail on Ashe)

Jungle Tutorial -What is jungling? -How to farm in the jungle. -How to gank. -What each monster gives.

Teamfight Tutorial -What's a front line? -What's a back line? -What each role does during a teamfight.

Ping Tutorial -How to ping -When to ping

Just some suggestions. These tutorials would IMMENSELY help new players. Educated new players means less bad games. Less bad games means less quitting. Less quitting means more money, Rito. Win, win.

EDIT: After reading some of the arguemts against all these tutorials, I would like to state a few things:

-These Tutorials do not have to be mandatory. They just could new availible for easy access to information.

[{quoted}](name=DrkPriest,realm=NA,application-id=WEuoGbmp,discussion-id=uUE1ybhO,comment-id=001d,timestamp=2015-0 I believe that for a new player to even consider taking the time to actually do the tutorials, there should be a reasonable reward for doing each one. Like an 'Exp boost for 5 games' (this would make perfect sense, because it allows you to climb levels faster since you actually took the time to educate yourself by taking the tutorial). Plus, it should be prompted that they will get a reward for taking the tutorial, instead of 'surprising' them with the reward after. Personally, I would like to know that I'm not doing the tutorial and getting nothing special from it.

-As this guy said, you can offer a reward for doing tutorials. Therefore , there's incentive to go learn.

Now those things are out of the way, I would like to thank everyone fore the views and the likes! It makes me feel intelligent to know that I posted something argument-worthy. XD

Ward Tutorial - not until level 15 Lane Role Tutorial - it is the meta of the game, but not an actual part of the game. You could change things around and still play league of legends in a way that could produce a win so.... :/ Jungling Tutorial - not until level 10 (or whenever Smite is unlocked now) Teamfight Tutorial - you probably have to learn this yourself. I can't think of a good tutorial for it that wouldn't last for an hour or more. Ping Tutorial - PLZ RITO ADD THIS

Something cool would be mini challenges for beginners:

-20cs by 5 min -place 3 wards by 10 min -clear jungle once by 7 min -use a summoner spell on an ally -assist 3 kills -destroy a tower in each lane (or assist)

Stuff like that in a bot game (beginner or intermediate) with an emblem for completing the noob challenge!!

My biggest thing with introducing friends is the concept of last hitting and constantly warding. If there were incremental challenges (highest being 100 cs by 10 min) it would be incentive to practice outside of pvp games where they just get yelled at.

nah, jungling is all about never playing the role, and then once you're forced to jungle in Season 3 you accidentally start by smiting wolves while getting a leash and then you don't have smite for your blue buff so you almost die then your team spends the whole rest of the game calling you a fucking retarded noob and tell you you should kill yourself and uninstall.

They also need a support-specific tutorial like the jungling one that goes past "What they do". Anyone can say "Supports support the team.", but not everyone can understand the deep basics. I have a friend trying to learn support and she doesn't get why she can't take my minions. Or that she needs to be in front of me keeping me safe while poking and keeping herself safe.

QueenAqua4/12/2015, 7:28:49 AM3 votes

I agree. I have felt that at least a role tutorial is needed for new players. The jungle one would have to wait til they hit a high enough level to get smite (which would have to be required to play to play any normal games).

Part of the game is learning the game.

Not everything has to be in a Tutorial

arcinex4/13/2015, 2:41:21 AM3 votes

The current tutorial in a nutshell: The turret is dangerous. If there are no friendly minions around the tower will do lots of damage. If there are minions around the tower won't do damage. Oh, that's right you took some damage because we told you to go under tower without minions. Waste your summoner heal and then press B to recall. GG. you are now ready to head onto the rift summoner.

I don't really disagree with the tutorials, but I think Riot wrote in some patch once, that they didn't want to overload new players with information. Also we have to ask ourselves: What information is really important, and what information is important because the smurf players have overly high expectations? How fast needs a new players learning-rate to be?

For example warding: Yes it's important, but it's not something you need to learn right away, because usually most players wouldn't have enough mapawareness to make much use of them. Also really new players don't gank a lot, so there probably wouldn't be much to see anyways. It's the smurfs who new players need to ward against. And warding is something you learn fairly well by yourself at some point. Maybe its a more experienced friend, a youtube video or a champion guide, but usually its easy to stumble on that information. I don't think players need to have perfect textbook knowledge so soon. What they need is a smurf-free environment, so they don't feel bad after every game. Or at the very least smurf players, who actually try and help new players instead of ridicule them.

I do agree though, that the current tutorial can be misleading and that it might be a good idea to point out a few more things, just certain key-words, so new players have something they can look up on the internet, if they want to.

Teamfight Tutorial -What's a front line? -What's a back line? -What each role does during a teamfight.

While it might be too complex for a game tutorial, part of me really wants this. People really, really don't know how to position at times. Bruisers build full damage and/or won't take hits from assassins (thus wasting their cooldowns and giving a window to initiate a fight), tanks initiate too early or wimp out, assassins and mages focus the tank but don't have the right build, supports waste all their cooldowns immediately and don't save their cc for Katarina's ult in favor of stunning the tank that's just sitting there, and there's always that one Vayne who thinks she can 1v5 a team at full health :/

I mean, think about it. If you can't position or perform your role or be willing to soak some damage and cooldowns if you're the designated frontline, then what's the point of the adc? What's the point of the meta if you don't even understand how it works? If you're going to have Fiora top while there's a Fiddlesticks in the jungle and the support chose Soraka or something squishy, then why have an adc because the meta said so? Fiora, Fiddlesticks, and Soraka aren't bad champions, but the team comp is. People need to understand how that works. :/

Frontline: -Tank -- initiates teamfights, cc's enemy team, becomes a nuisance to bait cooldowns and soak up damage that would melt squishies -Bruiser -- zones out enemies, particularly assassins. Soak up some cooldowns and damage, but deals damage to the entire enemy in return

Mid-line: Unofficial tho -Assassin -- eliminates out-of-position squishies, harasses to an extend, utilizes superior mobility to get in and out -Support -- protects the adc and apc at all costs, and the team by extension. Save cc for priority targets, focuses on keeping everyone alive. May be front or backline depending on champion.

Backline: -APC -- deals burst damage at range, focuses adc and apc if possible, utilizes cc on enemy team to either eliminate priorty targets or as disruption -ADC -- deals sustained damage at range, focuses whoever is at closest range to attack safely (usually tanks/bruisers). MUST PLAY AS SAFE AS POSSIBLe.

I can't Garen -tee that rito will actually update their several season old tutorial, but it would be nice to have one in Summoners RIft, since, most games are played in Summoners Rift.

I believe that for a new player to even consider taking the time to actually do the tutorials, there should be a reasonable reward for doing each one.

Here is my idea about Role-playing (pun intended)

Adc: They have you open shop and buy the recommended starter items. They teach you the concept of last-hitting: (the game will 'freeze time' and point out the minions with low health and tell you to auto it). -also mention the value of each minion: melee, castor and cannon Have you Attack move and show you the auto range of your champion and advise to maintain roughly that distance from enemy champions. -this way, you have a general idea about postioning as an adc and even kiting (because you were told to maintain the distance, so you would have to back-step to do so) --there could even be a brief description of kiting itself (they could make it easy for first-time kiters to practice this mechanic by playing Ashe with Q proced and giving them item 3282 and have a slow melee champ run towards them and only auto attacking them.

Support: Playing as Sona would be good for new players, because she only has 1 skill shot, and provides a poke, heal, speed boost, and CC.

These terms can be taught: Poking/Trading: Show Sona Q range and use it, point out the creeps' aggro and note that it is important to retreat behind castors immediately after poking for most cases.

Healing: The adc's health is low, so Sona heals them. "A healthy adc, is a happy adc."

Buffs/Debuffs:

Speed boost: -Offense: for closing in (so adc can get another auto in) -Defense: to help the adc get away

Example: Have Sona use E to close in on enemy champ, and hitting E procs her passive so that her next auto slows the enemy champ. that will explain the buff for Sona and her nearby allies and the debuff used on the enemy.

Peeling: Explain CC (Crowd Control) This could by sub-categorized under 'Debuffs' in a way. Offense: Sona Ult to lock down the enemy when he is low so your adc can secure the kill Defense: have the enemy jungler come in from river and both the support and adc can start running towards tower, once the enemies get too close, freeze frame for a moment and show that the enemies are close enough together to line up a good Sona Ult.

Show the different forms of CC for peeling: like Alistar 's knock up and knock back, Taric 's stun, Blitzcrank 's pull and silence, etc.

Mid: Reiterate the importance of Poking, Trading, CC and pushing/freezing for this role. Annie would be a good candidate for new players learning mid, because since she depends on her Passive so much, this will also help new players see the importance of Passives in general and also look into the passives of other champions. Have a MasterYi show pings to briefly illustrate the importance of communication. For the mid tutorial, he could be signaling that he is on his way to gank mid: -briefly reiterate 'Ganking' then once MasterYi target pings the enemy mid, then Annie could ult/stun the enemy mid and do her burst, while MasterYi goes in.

Top: Fighter and Tank: Garen would be easy enough to explain both. Show different full builds for each the fighter Garen and the Tank Garen

Also show 2 different builds for extremes in AD or AP damage in the enemy team: Show the Tab screen and point out the enemy builds and explain that they are all AD or AP. So it will explain why Garen has the build that he has.

This in itself is very vital for every game for new players to know; to check the enemy's build so they can be aware of so many factors: Who is doing damage What kind of damage is being put out Who is the tank Get an idea of what build path they are going for based on the items they have so far... like if someone has item 3086 , item 3057 , and item 3044 , ...WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?

Then show how the Fighter/Tank is important in a small team fight (like a 2v1 against the ally adc, then Garen comes in and front-lines while the adc attacks from the back)

Jungler (tutorial unlocked once summoner 11 is unlocked) MasterYi is probably the easiest candidate for new players to learn Jungling. There could even be a whole tutorial on summoner 11 and smite items all in itself, because there is so much to cover... Show all the monsters, their stats, and the buffs from smiting them (this will show new players how they should go about through the jungle, and generally in what order.

Leashing: Show a basic leash. for Gromp and for Crugs. Ganking: show the minimap and explain who most likely NEEDS a gank. Holding a Lane: show that the mid laner pings assistance in lane as he/she recalls. Then show the jungler going to mid lane and pushing the lane generally halfway between his and the enemy's towers... or simply clear a wave and quickly proceed to jungling.

NOTE: So that we are on the same page, I started off visualizing this as the new player hands-on playing the role when I started typing this with the adc, then I realized that it would be better if they were videos of people doing this, like in-game scenarios, having the video showing a game paused at points and explaining what just happened, what is going on now, and what is going to happen. Plus, there could be arrows drawn out and different illustrations outside of the game in the video to give the player a clear idea of what's going on.

There is really so much a new player needs to know... especially now. Even if you know all the basics of plaything the game, you still need to know what all the champs do... and the only way to do that is to play games AGAINST them as well as playing games AS them. Once they start building knowledge of all the champions, this will help them develop team synergy, team fights, counters, timing initiations, and much, much more.

I'm not entirely sure HOW rito should update their Tutorial, but I still think that they really SHOULD.

Entering in to the competition, which, competition is more successful with practice. Thought the preparation of competition resides in the ownership of the person? Thought learning to make a person more successful was the Reward all in itself. Please, if possible, create a glance as in trying to calculate the number of Boards Comments, then please try to weigh which one's are positive or negative feedback, or: Grateful Comment Posts to Riot versus those which are Negative Comments Posts to Riot. However, some could say feedback is a reward all as communicated inside of the definition of Feedback. Maybe more of a placement platform as to where the tutorials are located, or; PVP can only be played if these tutorials are complete, thus the reward is allowed then to PVP. As to not upset the infrastructure of the PVP classification style of League of Legends Game.

Anytime a person is trying to be a role model or help people to not stand out too far in the Noobish realm, I am grateful in those_ trying_ to help. Even when the reasons to help are weighed in a more strong stance to up the competition skill level. Another benefit of the tutorials, would be to help condition the competition arena of growth of newer gamers' building up their skills in League of Legends.

Should include: How to win a game without any need to Surrender Vote only to start another game! How to play a better honest, ethical game in Accordance with Sportsmanlike Conduct!

Edit3 is with the italicized word, and to note below*** was the second edit. Edit 4 is to the sentence above, in spelling not/ into note.
