Solo carrying and climbing is totally possible... BUT,

But you'd have to be significantly better than your opponents to solo carry 1vs5.

The reason this current ranked system is a total dogsh*t coinflip is because you rely on your teammate's performance very hard, Which makes total sense because this is a 5vs5 game.

However, high solo performance doesn't give you jack sh*t because if you are playing close to your true elo you are just not good enough to carry the game alone. You can't influence this game alone, not to the extent that you'd need to influence in order to climb based on your performance alone.

Which leads us to the point of the thread: if you want to get out of silver without going through hell and hope for lucky games and good teammates, you'd have to be playing at a platinum level. same goes for iron, bronze, gold, plat, diamond, and master+ You'd have to be playing 2 leagues over you current rank to be able to climb based on your performance alone.

If i am a true silver 1 player playing in silver 4 i should be able to affect the game to the extent of being able to climb. If i am a true gold player playing in silver, i should be able to affect the games enough to be able to climb to gold, and from there get better. This is just not the case. You have to be A LOT better than your enemies to climb consistently. that's just the cold hard truth.

If i am a true gold player, playing against silvers it's not going to improve me because you get better only by playing against people who are better than you and learn from them.

Said true gold player will not be able to influence his games enough to get out of silver. And that's why this ranked system is a fucking gamble. This whole game is a fucking gamble.

Now the bigger problem is even if you are good enough to the point where you did carry 1v9 for 5 games straight the disgusting forced 50% will start to match you against better teams and worse allies to even up the MMR differences and you are still stuck in silver.

I am open for dicussion, write your thoughts

There's definitely some truth to this. It's a lot more difficult to 1v5 carry than it was five years ago. The bounty system doesn't help at all cause it lets people who are far behind catch up with minimal effort. Towers don't do the damage they used to do so it's more difficult for teams to play safe under tower when behind. A lot of the damage in the game is also preloaded now so every champion does a high amount of damage even without items. Basically what this means is that even 5 people who don't know what they're doing will destroy a fed skilled player. The game is far more about team coordination now which feels bad in Solo Queue because it's completely random what kind of teammates you will get.

very underrated thread, i'm going thru some ''unlucky'' time myself, as a d3 /d2 peak player having trouble in disgusting d4 atm. It's not like i'm Master tier so i can smurf thru it, but being a ''bit better'' is just not gonna cut it when factors out of my control decide my games most of the time.

You also forgot to mention, you dont know the true ranks of your enemy. I was platnium jgler last season playing on my silver smurf this season and I was playing a game where i ganked a bunch of lanes and got ahead but the enemy did the same thing. In the end Rengar got stronger than me and they won. After the game rengar linked his stream and it turns out hes a diamond player smurfing. So just because youre playing at 2 ranks higher doesnt mean the enemy isnt playing at 3 ranks higher and if the enemy has multiple of these smurfs and you don't then the game becomes near impossible to solo carry.

Yeah the whole obscured mmr system is fishy and quite frankly of riot's best interest to remain this way because if people saw everyone's mmr you could prove that the match maker is setting you up for failiure. This whole system is a scam
