The Viktor changes will make him less fun -- and less healthy for the game

Now, despite whatever Ricklessabandon may say about the new changes just needing to be 'relearned,' I think it's fairly obvious that the changes will ruin the flow of the champion and make him clunkier, less fun, etc etc.

But one thing I think people haven't caught on to yet is what this means for the future, should these changes go through. Thankfully, we already have a champion who is in the exact same predicament that Viktor is likely doomed to fall into. What this champion's kit entails;

  • Very strong base damages, along with high scaling
  • Very low reliability in their combo
  • Highly telegraphed spells, which gives Riot the freedom to add potentially absurd damage potential, even with minimal items-

This champion has been complained about for weeks now after resurfacing, and currently boasts one of the highest ban rates in the game.

What I'd like to point out is that Viktor now shares many of these same qualities. His base damage has overall been improved, and his AP scaling has gone up to the point he can do much more with less invested. His combo has been made less reliable and more telegraphed, which will clearly discourage him from building full AP like we seem to think he'll still be doing. I predict that with the current state of the game and the way Viktor is headed, that he will opt for survivability over damage, because his base damage will be enough to give him a presence. Gone will be the days where he takes a risk to unload his burst on the backline, replaced instead with someone who whittles them down repeatedly with a much more easily-used ability, removing counterplay while only marginally hindering his damage, a downside quickly made up for by the durability he gains from items.

In short, Viktor is going to become a ranged Ekko. I have full belief that he will voraciously abuse Iceborn Gauntlet and Grasp of the Undying and similar tank-damage stats now that power has shifted to his Q and sustained damage, and his burst combo has been all but erased. At the very minimum, he will buy AP items only for the utility they provide. His synergy with Rylai's has drastically decreased. The value he will get out of burst builds is almost negligible. Much like AP Ekko, his damage will take too long to hit the enemy, and he will be too squishy to set any of it up. Instead, he'll simply build the items that make him tanky enough to survive and use his base damage to hit squishies until they're dead, a style of play loathed by the community and by far the biggest cancer to be plaguing League at the moment.

Viktor item 3198 item 3025 item 3001 item 3068 item 3111 + Rod of Ages/New Hextech item

This is what the future holds. Be prepared.
