I feel like the Rylai's nerf was a bit much

Maybe the slow was too strong, but the stats were perfectly fine. It was meant to be a late game AP item anyways. Why couldn't we have just nerfed the slow a bit and leave the stats alone?

The AoE/DoT slow needed to be gutted. Single target slow needed to be slightly lowered.

The AP needed to be lowered.

The duration and HP did not need to be lowered.

I mean, the slow nerf is literally all this item needed. The whole reason you buy an item is for the passive and/or active, and in this case the passive was clearly broken. With the passive gutted, all it is is a ball of stats item.

Also, there's one more thing I must ask you. How will ap mid laners deal with Yasuo now that this item is gutted? Being able to kite him with Rylai's made him slightly less annoying, but the slow is so garbage now it barely does anything to him.

It was fine with stronger slow, more HP and less AP it gave before. The problem was not the slow, but the fact that it gave 100 AP - which along with nerfs to other high-end AP items made it a must buy. Same'd happen if you, say, changed Frozen Mallet into a 70 AD/300 HP item. Every ADC would buy it.

And slow doesn't really help against Yasuo if there are minions around or he has W. It barely did anything against him anyway.

If you were fighting Yasuo in lane than yea it doesn't really help much. But if you're fighting around an objective (like drag or baron for instance) it is incredibly useful. People don't realize that this is one of the ways to counter Yasuo. You can force fights in areas where he has nothing to dash to, and kite him to hell and back.

Bullshit. The stats were specifically what was stupid about it. I do think they did go a bit overboard tho. Give it a bit more HP back and fix the durations.

The stats were fine. The only thing out of line was the slow.

  • a tanky disruption item's problem was the disruption it provided, not the needless amount of damage stats that weree added to it in the mage update.

"late game ap item"

Is that why people built it first/second? It was supposed to be a niche item but it was so good that everybody could build it.

Now it's still good on core users, worse on mages it was not originally intended on/niche on them.

People didn't always get it first. It depends on the champion and what you want really. Sometimes I get stuff like zhonyas, ludens, lich bane, etc first. Having said that it was a solid choice for your first AP item. I don't think it was always the best choice for first AP item though.

I feel like they could increase the slow from 20% to 25% and increase the duration from 1 second to 1.25 seconds.

Then losing out on the AP/Health wouldn't feel as bad-- Though the health could at least be 350 or something. D:

Riot nerfed it because of it was a stat stick that just happened to have a good passive. The stats were most of the issue.

I feel like this nerf was also a bit too much.. I think the ap value on it was fine, but the slow did need to be reduced a bit.
