Malzahar rework suggestion: Bringing reliability back to the prophet of the void.

Passive: Void seer Every 30 seconds malzahar will foresee an enemy champions death, granting his next spell cast 100% critical strike chance. Malzahars critical strikes deal 0/25/50/75% additional damage. Void seers cooldown is reduced by 1 second whenever malzahar damages an enemy champion.

Q: Unchanged

W: Null zone: Malzahar creates a zone of void charged energy which deals 50/70/90/110/130+0.4AP per second for 4 seconds. Cooldown: 10 seconds Cost: 40/50/60/70/80 mana

E: Malefic visions Malzahar throws his dagger ahead dealing 80/110/140/170/200+0.8AP as magic damage and landing on the ground. If the dagger kills an enemy or lands in null zone it spreads malefic visions to a nearby enemy dealing 40/80/120/160/200+1.0AP as magic damage over 3 seconds. If malefic visions kills an enemy it returns 30% of its mana cost. Cooldown: 15 seconds Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana

R: Unchanged except for a new passive; Passive: Enemies who are effected by malefic visions spawn a voidling upon death. Voidlings are permanent, do not proc spell effects, gain 10% of malzahars bonus health and resistances, modifiers to critical strike damage, and 60/80/100% of malzahars critical strike chance. Malzahar can have a maximum of 2/3/4 voidlings at a time.

Bringing reliability back to the prophet of the void.

His reliability was the reason he was reworked. He had virtually no counterplay.

... Malzahar was a victim of riots "change for the sake of change" policy. As an immobile assassin - an anti-assassin - malzahar was balanced. His job was to assassinate people who tried to all in him, and to that effect he had the same burst as ANY assassin of the era. His rework took away almost all his reliability and forced him OUT of the midlane and into the support role by making his kit largely non-lethal.

The passive is something fun to promote interactions. An incentive that is unique and has implications greater than "just a passive".

No. Malzahar was changed because none of his damage was conditional. He clicked E on you and you lost 70% of your Health bar. He clicked E on a wave and it cleared itself. he was very uninteractive as a champ, and had little to no depth in his actual play pattern because none of his effects were conditional, leaving him with a shallow mastery curve.

On the surface, sure. On the surface he was a farmer who didnt want to engange. The real reason for that is malzahar was entirely dependant on people being IN his range to being with. He has no mobility, making it extremely difficult for him to deal with things like lucian, vayne, zed, leblanc, and ahri. THey HAD to engage on him for him to execute his role.... Which is something you dont seem to understand. Also, the game is different now. Theres a lot less AP than there was then, theres more MR in the game, and theres a lot more mobility now. Malzahars weakness was extensions and delayed CC before (ahris charm would wreck if you didnt get the timing right), so would LB or karmas chain.

My rework suggestion replaces the non-lethal, unreliable, BADLY DESIGNED things malzahar currently has while giving him an additional skill shot and more base damage than he currently has.
By making his voidlings a passive on his ultimate, his "oppression through voidlings" is delayed into a proper power spike. By making his E into a semi-skill shot, theres counter play there. By tying his abilities together with null zone, theres flexibility in his spell casting. By lowering the base and increasing the scaling on his malefic visions, it means malzahar actually has to build AP for it to be used as a clearing tool, otherwise youl be using it in conjuction with null zone.

A DoT mage MUST have high bases otherwise theyre just a sub-par mage; MR and health regen lower the damage of DoTs per tick.
