Why Tanking destroys your mental and creates 'hardstuck players'
Now i don't know how much the rest of the community has heard of the term "hardstuck" but i hear it so often it actually makes me want to vomit. A player performs bad and gets into an argument with another player, that player goes to op.gg "hurrrr durrrr 450 games hard stuck d4 hurrrr durrrr" i want to explain how i got "hardstuck" and just how stupid of a trap the bottom of every rank really is (im talking d4, p4, g4 etc.) So for a fact basis check, i am not "hardstuck". my peak rank was masters 200 lp and i play on a lot of smurf accounts. the account im currently on can be considered my "main" since i sold my original account. a few weeks ago. i found myself stuck in one of the most "hardstuck moments" i've ever felt in diamond 4. I went on maybe a 6 game loss streak at 0 lp diamond 4 and found that i was gaining 13 lp per game and losing 20. upon continuing my climb, i found that my teams were getting progressively more Cough* disabled Cough* and would consistently throw games that were in their favor. my teammates were around plat 3-4 range and i was getting warnings of demotion. The thing was however i was not playing bad whatsoever. i would win my lane, roam and help other lanes, help contest objectives but it seemed that somewhere down the line somebody would throw their lead whether it be getting caught or not grouping for an objective or getting into a verbal argument. whatever the reason, the result was that i play well and lose the game. AND THAT'S TILTING. that's insanely tilting to completely dominate your toplaner with 5 kills up, 2 turrets, 3 levels, and an 100 gold cs lead and have them win the game (more than once) In case you guys were wondering, i hit masters playing wukong top lane but since he's such a dumpsterfire right now i've been playing meta toplaners like kled and darius but i can't seem to carry on them nearly as hard as wukong. Back to the point tho. I eventually lost to the point where i dropped out of diamond into p2 50 lp and at that point it seemed that something "snapped" and i started getting relatively decent teams again. I climbed back to diamond 4 in 2 days and it seems like everything is going well so far. The thing is however, on my other smurfs, this has never been a problem. If i take an unranked account from silver i usually breeze right through diamond 4 because my mmr is so high after climbing through the low ranks that by the time i'm playing at d4 range i'm getting diamond 2-grandmaster teammates anyway so it doesn't really "hardstuck" me but if i lose i go on a minor loss streak at 0 lp in the bottom of a tier i might as well just give up on the account because my mmr is so screwed there's practically no way to help your team unless you play like a challenger 1v9 consistently every game. I'm not sure how riot's mmr system works but it seems like they base it off of your win loss ratio instead of your in game stats. I find that insanely stupid as players who may be playing well but just a little unlucky can get "held back" by their team into a loophole of losses never being able to climb as they lose more than they win.
I propose that mmr be based off of in game stats like k/p, objective control, csing, etc. rather than have yourself marked as a "bad player" because your team didn't perform. It's like trying your best on a group project but having your group members not do anything so you get labelled as a "f" student event though you did all your parts in the project.
