Riot has finally made me consider quitting
This article will be talking about the patch 8.16 nerfs to wukong and what riot plans to do to "compensate" him in patch 8.17. I remember clearly when i first read the 8.16 patch notes for wukong in the pbe. "Ad ratio and base damage down on his q?" This can't possibly be a real nerf i thought to myself. I managed to convince myself for the time being that riot was a sensible company and would realize that these nerfs were unjustified. I watched in awe as everything i thought was mistaken and the nerfs hit live as easily as rain fell from the sky. I remember testing the new wukong out on pbe thinking maybe i could cope with the nerfs only to feel obscene levels of frustration when i was unable to oneshot an adc who was 2 levels below me (with me having duskblade and youmuus and him having no armor whatsoever) i continued to watch wukong's progression as patch 8.16 continued to sink in. I watched as his winrate slowly deteriorated from a 54% to 46% dropping an entire 10%. I watched as he became a tier 5 champion in all 3 lanes he was played in. I watched as my own rank dropped from diamond 3 to diamond 5, and the whole time i was thinking to myself: no way riot was going to let this change go unnoticed. Surely they would fix his abysmal state in 8.17 and bring the old wukong i felt so comfortable with back. Today i read riot meddler's thoughts on how they would compensate for wukong's loss of power. They planned on giving him "sustained damage." When i first read these words, i felt reassured. At least riot realized how badly they screwed up my champion and are working to resuscitate him. I went to search up what exactly riot meant by "sustained damage" in the patch 8.17 notes. I found a small detail at the very bottom saying wukongs attack speed- "raised from 0.6 to 0.7" my brain stopped working at that moment. I didnt know what to feel anymore. Wukong as an ad caster/ assasain is not an autoattack carry like yasuo or tryndamere. What good is a 0.1 change of attack speed going to compensate for the ad ratio and base damage nerf on his q? Not only that but his e also received a nerf a few patches before that. I think every assassain player can relate to me in someway. Imagine zed or talon getting a massive nerf on their q, then riot comes back in a few weeks and tells you they're going to give them a 0.1% ATTACK SPEED buff to make up for it. I didnt know what to do anymore. I have mostly respected riot's decisions on most balance changes and while i disagreed with some, i thought they were tolerable. I love league of legends and want to continue playing it, so this thread is my last plead for riot to revert the nerfs or compensate wukong in a manner that actually matters. For the first time in 4 years i am seriously considering quitting due to these changes alone. I hope riot will read my message and reconsider their nerfs on patch 8.16 as they TRULY were unjustified. (For anyone claiming wukong was strong due to his winrate, it's easy to sit from a position as someone who doesnt play wukong and criticize his damage only a wukong main will tell you correctly just how hard it is to establish a lead against any meta toplaner. Its almost impossible to trade with a bruiser/tank and all fighter matchups are even at best. It takes one of the worst laning phases in the game to achieve that oneshot champion so many players are claiming as "op")
