At this point just disable Ryze until you give him a full rework.

(I know the link is from 5.10, but it serves as a reminder of the impossible task of balancing him.)

He's been hopelessly broken for years now (whether that makes him strong or weak) and based on how unhealthy his kit is there's absolsutely no way to fix that. On paper or in practice it's pretty obvious an actual balancing is impossible.

Your nerfs and buffs make him either a titan that can 100-0 almost any Amumu without any chance of moving with item 3111 or a Gatling gun item 3901 of spells that don't do any damage.

Give him a Sion level rework, and for the love of Ryze mains make the rework more dynamic than Shen's.

Why the hell Riot keeps giving him mini reworks to at all... It's a waste of resources, time and money and makes makes people frustrated or leaves negative experience then playing against him after every buff - mini rework or makes him nearly useless, pointless to pick, like he is right now.

Honestly. At this point since the beginning of the rework he's been altered in:

5.8 5.9 5.10 5.11 5.12 5.14 5.22 and finally again in 6.3, and if the pbe notes are right apparently more in 6.4.

All of this money, effort, and manpower. Keep in mind it probably requires at least a couple hours of playtesting before they release any alterations at all. It could be going to actually balancing their game, other champ reworks, making Shen not have Mordekaiser's Q, or even new champs.

So long as Ryze's "niche" is to spam spells, he will never be healthy. You can't balance a champion being based around the kinds of abilities Ryze has which are low impact stat check spells.

Do they not have nerfs for him on the PBE? Because last I checked they had pretty hefty nerfs for him on the PBE

Yes he got nerfed, but now it's to the point that he's useless and that's exactly my point. His kit plainly can't be balanced. His patch list shows that pretty distinctly.

Fair.

That's what I thought, I'm not sure why this is being downvoted lol

how i look at this

one: playing against a ryze, be aware of his of his passive when reaching almost procing or if you know when his ult is up, be very careful and if you know he can burst you tower sit or stay back on your side of lane

two: playing s a ryze, wait to make combos when your mastery is almost procing and as soon as that goes off use your ult to make it happen again

Oh don't get me wrong there's definitely a playstyle behind playing against him, but I just don't think burning a flash should equate to such a reliable perma-root and 100-0.

Those nerfs are live now.

EmollientNut01 votes

They sure are, and their balancing makes him either a complete breeze or an unstoppable force. I really don't think there's a happy medium.

Right now on PBE he has a buff, but the nerfs that shipped last patch are really brutal (FIVE SPELLS MAX?!?!?!/1!?!)

EmollientNut02 votes

Exactly, the reason people picked him was the constant barrage of spells and neverending point-and-click crowd control.

That list is how many times since 5.8 when the rework hit that he's been changed. I really don't think the root can be fixed.
