Anyone else live in constant fear that their favorite champ is gonna get Nerfed or Reworked?

This is coming from an old Shen main with 350k mastery. I can't even play him anymore.

Wow, everyone! Woke up this morning to 133 notifications to read hahaha. I'm psyched that a lot of you agree with me, and there's so much support here. That being said, I think something needs to be done. A lot of us don't seem happy with this mage rework.

  • I'm fine with items changing.

  • I'm fine with the meta changing.

  • I'm fine with ADC's being ludicrously viable in 4/5 roles.

  • I'm fine with my favorite champion being underpowered in a current meta and needing buffs.

What I'm no longer fine with is losing the champions that made me fall in love with this game, and instead playing some test-tube Frankenstein that piggybacks off their sprite with a 3-hit mechanic. If you're going to overhaul every champion, item, map and game mode of the game, it seems like a whole lot less effort just making a new game. I personally won't be putting any more money in to the game. If a champ I love and buy 40 dollars worth of skins for gets a rework that I don't like, then it's money wasted.

I really do love all the effort you put in to creating and sculpting this game, but I honestly think you're at the point now where you're trying a little too hard. I'd love to see your rework money go towards new champions as opposed to changing the ones we already like you for. _ I'd really love to see some Rioter feedback on this post. 157 upvotes in a day and no comments yet._

He was the one (literally) THE ONE champ they got right on release. They've changed him maybe twice since his release, compare that to Ryze who's seen 11 changes this year alone. Why do they insist on fucking our champs up? None of us want it.

because Mother Riot knows best. Now buy some new RP for these new skins which you don't want instead of the hundreds of better fan made ones or more of a certain skin line which made us big bank.

I've never once looked at my roster of midlane mages and said "Hmn, you know what'd be more fitting to the current situation than xerath, azir, lux, or any other long range mage? Vel'koz." His theme isn't hammered home enough, and his support-esque niche of damage regardless of farm is already occupied by the other two support mages you see ever.

I guess change is always bad.

You cant have your cake and eat it too. People need to make up their minds.

After the marksman update, everyone was complaining how Kog was near useless. Now that he was changed to actually have some mid game power, people complain that he is too strong. What did everyone expect would happen when asking for buffs on the strongest late-game damage ADC?

OH, I dunno CERTAINLY not some completely moronic 5.0 atk speed buff and the other crap.

Riot doesn't get it..... if a champion just needs a small tweak they give them a compltete rework that is just as much of a mess as the previous kit but less fun and if they need a major kit rework they just tap the numbers here and there for 12 months until they change items and kill the champ.

So sick of the Rito buff/nerf/oops cycle.

They nerf nerf nerf, then nerf an item then never go back to the champion that is now useless.

EmollientNut051 votes

Can't wait for his upcoming 3-hit-stun mechanic!

BioticBrony40 votes

Nah % true damage stun after he hits 3 times. Then he will dash multiple times away from any danger.

Madra14 votes

He's going to have gems that bounce off of him when he's hit that ricochet between enemy champions and they will be consumed and increase the damage of his abilities, a 3 hit passive mechanic that will do true damage based off of Taric's armor, new interactions with Skarner's crystals, and the ability to throw his hammer and then teleport on top of it, which of course, will have a built in cooldown reduction mechanic for hitting enemy champions. His ultimate will knock everyone away and crystallize them in gemstones depending on the stacks each champion has on them.

Tundra Fizz41 votes

Nope, not at all.

People have been making QQ threads about Fizz ever since he has been released, and Riot has stated at least two times why they won't be touching his Playful/Trickster ability.

On average it seems like there's about 2 or 3 Fizz QQ threads a week, so sometimes I'll read those for entertainment.

Vistha Kai9 votes

They did majorly touch the rest of his kit twice, though.

However the ultimate outcome was that they went to square one.

However the ultimate outcome was that they went to square one.

Not exactly, they did make one important change that made him a much healthier champion; shifting power from his Q to his R.

A while back you could chunk a huge amount of HP with a simple W+Q which was really dumb. Now since power has been shifted elsewhere, it gives more breathing room to his opponents and makes Fizz less binary.

Zyra I'm terrified for her update and what they end up doing to her. I trust in them to get it right though, still pretty terrifying to think about her changing though.

Janna Janna is another fear of mine, with how strong she is in the current meta I'm scared she'll get nerfed.

A moment of silence for devout Lulu support mains getting wrongly accused for being called "toplane abusers".

Inb4 a Lulu rework that turn her into a solo laner completely because her support "sucks", I fear this day.

I'm going to be honest here. I think most of you guys just hate change... all the champions I main that have seen reworks have been great reworks. They've kept what I found fun intact in their kit and added more to them that I like.

Ashe for example was an amazing rework I loved playing the champion before and honestly a lot more now. They added so much more fun to the kit while still keeping what I enjoyed alive in the kit.

Poppy is another one, even though I havent played her in a long time what I always really enjoyed about Poppy was her heroic charge. I always thought that ability was extremely fun to use and they kept it while adding a bunch of other reasons to enjoy the champ. (things like her old q / w were extremely bland abilities tbh.)

These are just 2 examples but I havent had any other champs that I liked get reworked but as for Shen now I don't play the champ but it seems to me that the abilities that made him Shen were kept (Stand united and his taunt are both very iconic Shen abilities) and they changed his other abilities that honestly were pretty damn bland. His q and w were both abilities that had very little to them imo and I feel like Shen came out of that rework a more fun champion.

I personally look forward to future reworks.. that being said I do hope they don't change what I like about them but from what I've seen so far they've been doing a pretty good job. I will say there are reworks that I feel aren't very good such as Ryze and Morde that come to mind instantly but they have been getting it right more often than not for me so I have high hopes.

What people hate is "loss of playstyles". For example. Original Fiora was a glass cannon melee AD with a single defensive spell (her ultimate) which had 1 minute cooldown. Oh and no escapes. The new Fiora is a fighter/bruiser with escapes, %max hp true damage, and enough mobility to chase targets to hell and back.

Its not change. The "new" Fiora could've been a new hero called Tetra from example. And people that like the original fiora still has her playstyle when they want to play that. Or if they want they can play the other new hero. Like they released Braum, which is like Yasou+Leona combined. They didn't rework Leona. Or they released Lucian, which was like Graves v2.0. They didn't rework Graves. Or they released Azir, which was like Oriana+Cassiopea. They didn't rework any of those.

Its not "change" what people 'fear' or 'dislike'. Its "death". Just like if your friend/relative dies. You lost any chance to spend time with them anymore. And this happens with everything that gets reworked. Sure, you can get a new friend, or speak with another member of your family, but it won't be the same as it was with the one that died.

I'm worried about Nasus, especially with this early game meta they now have an excuse. They already said that if they could go back in time and remake him, they would have put a cap on his Q and possibly remove his attack speed slow. If they rework him and drain his power into some annoying gimmick like they did with Skarner's jungle crystals or Shen's energy sword, I might just quit.

YoureSquiddingMe13 votes

If Velkoz gets ruined or juggernauted into pick or ban status, I quit. I already lost Morde, Skarner, Xerath, and a few others.

Every day ever since they announced the mage rework for Vladimir. One Rioter (Morello?) even openly stated that he hated Vladimir and he should have never been released in this state.

Such sad days.

Edit: Also Katarina. I understand she is not in the most balanced state (She is not broken per se but the power budget on her ultimate and her passive is too high and frontloaded), but I fear Riot will use a rework to nerf her to the ground, rendering her assassination power useless.

SH Azykan5 votes

I mean Vlad if he is strong is just overbearing. Played Vlad enough to definitely understand it (some lanes just cannot handle the constant Q harass+sustain pattern against you)

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/A0OcEy6p-what-i-would-like-to-see-as-the-vladimir-rework Is a thread I made a while ago (sadly got buried because it was the same time that everyone started the Xin PBE buff outcry) on what I would love for the Vlad rework to look like. Probably won't be this...but oh well.

TeemoJenkins8 votes

lol, I mained Swain last season thinking "They'll never nerf him".... W nerf. Doesn't seem to have hurt him too much, but there's still a palpable feeling to your early game now where you used to be able to L3 cheese someone to death.

Considering she's the weakest champ in the game already, she has nowhere left to go, but up. Of course, since Rito has publicly stated they'll never let that happen, she'll continue sitting at the very bottom. Meddler even threatened additional guttings to make certain she stays there, but I mean making the weakest champ in the game even weaker doesn't actually do anything. It's the very literal definition of beating a dead horse.

Elindiir4 votes

Sona isn't weak.... She is probably one of the best balanced supports in the game. Her heal isn't QUITE as powerful as Soraka , her poke isn't QUITE as hard as Karma , and her disengage isn't QUITE as good as Janna but Sona has a kit of all of this in a nice amount. People think she is weak because she isn't the MASTER of any one thing like these other champs, but all around Sona is pretty solid.

Also, Riot wouldn't want to hurt one of their biggest moneymakers too badly. People love to buy her skins, particularly DJ Sona...

LankPants10 votes

Her heal isn't QUITE as powerful as Soraka ,

It's less powerful than Nami

her poke isn't QUITE as hard as Karma ,

It's numerically less powerful than Nami , there's arguments that can be made about ease of use but a Nami who plays well has better poke than Sona.

the and her disengage isn't QUITE as good as Janna

It's far less powerful than Nami . Even starting to compare Sona's disengage to Janna's is a joke, Sona's only short CD disengage is a crap slow and a speed boost, none of which helps a CCed ally. Janna's disengage is not just slightly better than Sona's as you're suggesting, it's orders of magnitude better.

In fact Sona has some of the weakest disengage out of any of the support champions, since at this stage her and Nunu are the only two supports without a hard CC on their basic abilities and Nunu has a huge arse slow.

but Sona has a kit of all of this in a nice amount. People think she is weak because she isn't the MASTER of any one thing like these other champs, but all around Sona is pretty solid.

Only because you compared a generalist to specialists. When you compare Sona to another generalist in Nami it's easy to see that she's weaker in almost every area.

Also, Riot wouldn't want to hurt one of their biggest moneymakers too badly. People love to buy her skins, particularly DJ Sona...

That's not at all true. Most people who'll ever buy DJ Sona at this point probably own it and I honestly doubt that Riot buffing a champ who's been irrelevant above Silver for 3 years would hurt her skin sales anyway.

EDIT: I hate the downvote system. Why can't I just state my opinion of a champion without someone getting butthurt over it.

Cause what you're saying isn't opinion. You're intentionally fabricating falsities in an attempt to flamebait posters into provocation of your selective disinformation.

No because I dont play (for the most part) stupid OP champs.

EmollientNut013 votes

Shen wasn't stupid or OP, he was actually quite balanced before. He saw some LCS play, but wasnt overbearing and in every match. Guarantee the new Shen will never see worlds play.

4th3t0s19 votes

I gotta disagree here. Old Shen was too boring for what he offered to a team; new Shen? Much better at 1v1s, bigger teamfight presence, and FAR better in the jungle.
