Old runes gave 7.83 Magic Penetration

vs 12.06 Flat magic resist or vs 27 Magic resist at level 18

Please give lesser-ap-scaling mages and supports back their missing flat 4.23 MR Ryze Anivia Ahri Karthus Velkoz Lux Brand Viktor Vladimir

And give Tanks/Fighters back their missing 1.065 MR per level.

And no, going into Resolve for Mirror Shell isn't a viable option, unless you want to give back the missing 8 resistances from Siegemaster and missing 10%+1.5-27 resistances from Fearless just by picking resolve also.

I think give all champions 9 armor and 5-9 Mr would help offset all the damage and snowball were seeing right now

I'm not sure the armor is as necessary, if instead pure-AD building characters had their AD put more in line with the older values.

With the preseason, most characters were given 9 base armor to compensate for the lost gold runes, and some were given 8.5 extra AD to compensate for missing Reds.

But the new rune set bonuses ALSO give extra AD, so characters that were given that 8.5 back who go into domination or sorcery are getting inordinate bonuses to their offensive stat while missing out majorly on defenses.

This is why tanks are performing better than they should be -- They are the only ones doing ANY kind of damage soaking at all, since the only way to obtain remotely passable defenses is to take conditioning and either grasp of the undying to stack health, or aftershock if you have the means to proc it. The other secondary rune slots in resolve are horrendous, and the other options in the same slot as conditioning are worthless since they're only a better option early, and armor/MR aren't even worth having extra of until you hit about 1200 health in the first place, which will probably happen around 10 minutes anyway.

When it comes to amor and AD, the solution isn't to add in extra armor, but to take little hits to AD instead. Yorick is the first to be seeing this and I can guarantee you he won't be the last. Hell, Yorick wasn't even majoring in the AD-granting trees. Expect to see MissFortune and other non-precision adcs taking hits soon.

Most mages and ads didn't get armor. Mages got some hp which we already have a abundance in from items and ads got ad.

Giving us some base armor would greatly help our laning phase, as would a little Mr.

I don't particularly agree with this sentiment. Even as an AD main I'll take Resolve as a secondary tree if I'm going into a bad lane matchup. Second Wind is a godsend in those scenarios and Revitalize will contest it with the upcoming buff to also accept incoming healing/shields (will be great when paired with a heal/shield support like Soraka or Janna).

Iron Skin/Mirror Shield/Conditioning are all solid options to take depending on the opposing team comp if you need survivability. Finally, if you don't already have two options selected, Demolish can easily be taken to augment the ADC's traditional role as a tower buster.

Just wanted to give my perspective on that one, since ADC would probably be one of the last roles you'd consider for Resolve. Kind of works along the same lines as taking the Resolve mastery tree as an ADC last season.

marksmans needs 5 flat mr, top laners need flat mr or mr scale depends on what riot wants to do (I think they went mr scale though). Mages should get flat 5 or 4 armor. Bruiser should probably get flat mr? I'm not sure about that one. And about marksmans, making their vulnerablility lower is not the solution. Increasing the gold cost of their items and slightly nerfing enchanter sup items (on heal/shield) is a much better solution tbh.

I don't necessarily think every champion needs a bump to their MR. If the recent patch notes are any indication, it looks like Riot is trying to smooth out outliers first, with the current approach being to nerf magic damage.

Plenty of mages are sitting around a 50% win rate, so adding ambient MR across the board would likely hurt balance more than it would help.

Snowballing is certainly an issue right now, but a decent argument can be made around the types of team compositions that players are opting into. There are a lot of silly, squishy compositions being made that maximize damage and ignore having a proper front-line. This is being done in spite of the fact that tanks seem to be generally over-tuned in the top lane, when they are played (hence the nerfs to Maokai, Ornn, and Shen in the latest patch, for example).

The success of tanks is precisely BECAUSE of the silly tream comps as you put it. Because teams exist which lack tanks, a team that has a tank will win more often, inflating the winrate of tanks artificially.

Imagine if for whatever reason, almost no one was playing ADC. That would cause every single marksman to go up in winrate, since teams with an ADC would win against teams without. That's what's happening with tanks. No one is playing them, so teams that have one win against those without.

It isn't that tanks are broken or overtuned, it's that tanks are NECESSARY for a consistently successful team. Tanks are winning in top lane because top lane is and always has been the most popular spot for tanks since the lane is hard to gank and lets them scale to a point of being able to engage in team fights. Hell, tanks can be LOSING their lane and still be on the winning team to the ire of Brusier players the world over. That isn't because they won lane but the enemy adc won theirs so gg; it's because they won the battle but lost the war when the teams started butting heads.

Once the preseason settles down and the ranked season starts, every team is going to have a tank either top, jungle, or support, and the supposed "only tanks" top won't exist, since teams will be more naturally well-rounded.

That's a decent point, and when speaking about the majority of tanks I agree with you.

I think for the nerfed champions in question, however, there's something to be said about the state of top lane overall. Bruisers (the traditional "tank counter" champs) are all underperforming even when played against tank champions. That's why we also see buffs to champions like Riven in the patch notes, along with the nerfs to these outlier tanks.

I feel like Riot has a good idea of what the problems are, even though I think more tuning is going to be needed in the coming patches.

Seems like we agree on the core point, though: team compositions are currently impacting the snowball effect more than the lack of ambient MR right now.
