PSA: Lasers, like Vel'Koz and Lux's ults (among other abilities), can pass through windwall

Kairoptra··34 votes·1,875 views

I am a Vel'Koz main who has gone against too many Yasuos who rage at me because they didn't know. EDIT: Yes, Viktor's laser can be blocked, I'm aware.

Great point :D

My personal Favorite is Xerath. Both your Q and your W are non-projectile. So many times I've seen a Yasuo try to windwall my Q just to get chunked anyway XD

Kairoptra9 votes

Holy crap, I had o idea about Xerath. Thanks for the info!

HalcyonDweller12 votes

Yup he's hilarious against Yasuo. Also it's really easy to poke his shield off that way.

Glad I could help :)

EDIT: Important to note - Xerath's stun is a projectile, so you have to be careful with that.

whats even more funny is when hes about 2 die and use windwall 2 stop ur finaly ult shot just for fun. whats not fun is when he uses r during ur ult, kills ur team and then chases u. :'(

RocketRelm1 votes

You make sure to Mastery Icon when they mess that up, right? It's crucial to tilting the Yasuo.

I've seen some Yasuos who legitimately think they can windwall the beam from Malzahar's ult.

Enlegacy2 votes

Syndra Q and W also go through their wall. It's hilarious to see Yasuos try and windwall syndra W and then whine about it not working.

I've had a Yasuo try to wind wall my dash as Shen before.

Needless to say he didn't have a good time.

50000000000000001 votes

Does he block Q though? Moving the sword part, not the damage.

Melledoneus1 votes

Yes. Unfortunately Shen's sword counts as a projectile.

AwesomeGuyDj1 votes

How fucking dumb are yasuo's. My god.

nyakasgoods7 votes

Also note that windwall has no effect on laser autos either, like VK's or Azir's.

Vel'Koz ADC new meta

nyakasgoods4 votes

A crit animation like his begs the question of why it isn't already.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHH FRONT PAGE! THAT'S THE THIRD TIME NOW! (I am so much happier than I should be...)

TIL that snowballs count as lasers. They still get blocked by Zyra's plants, though, and well, any other enemy units? Well, not so much blocked as absorbed I guess. Why can't her plants be classified as wards, anyway? Aren't they too strong right now as they are?

Wait, what if we're not throwing snowballs but instead we're throwing tiny poros wrapped in snow?

Ariel the Cruel5 votes

Snowballs were special cased. They're still projectiles.

Vanic9981 votes

Windwall blocks viktor laser though.

IronwallJackson2 votes

It's only a laser in its looks. Functionally, it's a ground-targeted projectile. Sort of. Think of it like Braum's ult.

IR0N III1 votes

Why does Yasuo's windwall penetrate the ground? I mean you would kind of think a laser that penetrates the ground and explodes upward wouldn't be effected by wind (because there is no wind in the ground).

IronwallJackson1 votes

Again, visuals, and mechanics trump visuals every time. Lots of things appeal to occur underground, but don't. Nautilus's ult is the only projectile that actually goes "below grownd" as is thus unaffected by Wind Wall.

SweedishGunner1 votes

You mean the E? It stops that, it doesn't stop the second cast of Q though.

DunkinNoobs1 votes

There's so many mages that Yasuo just can't teamfight against due to their AOE. Anivia Annie Brand Heimerdinger KarthusAnivia Kennen Malzahar Lissandra Swain Veigar VelkozAnivia Viktor Vladimir Zyra

That's why a lot of Yasuo players just go top lane now and split all game.

Kairoptra1 votes

Gonna have to correct you on Vel'Koz (can't speak for the others since I don't play them often enough); if you E on the other side of windwall it fizzles out, and W only travels as far as the windwall before getting cut off.

Beas7ie1 votes

It makes sense. A windwall is great for stopping things like projectiles and smaller lasers and stuff.

No way it should be able to stop those full blown kamehameha type attacks.

IronwallJackson6 votes

That's not it at all. The windwall also fails to stop things as small as Azir aa's. Projectiles, as the game defines them, are the only things it stops.

I once caught a scripting yaso in arurf. I was varus, we had a lux, every single time th elux ulted, the yasuo tried to windwall it, he also windwalled a varus arrow that came from an unwarded bush(river bush, I even shot through the wall so he wouldn't see) Shame I never got a notification so i have no clue if he got banned or not

That's because Riot only gives notifications for toxicity-related reports, not cheating-related reports or anything else.

too bad yasuo can just ignore you and shove you under tower with his infinite waveclear

TimX24968B1 votes

lasers aren't projectiles. end of story.

Wintrytale1 votes

So you're telling me a laser goes through a windwall, But a literal ultimate that breaks the ground doesn't? Being a Braum main this has made me lose many teamfights if there are any in bronze : ^)

RainXBlade1 votes

I should always keep in mind that Wind Wall can't stop any instantaneous sources of damage like Vel's R as a Yasuo main.

Craig1 votes

They aren't a projectile so this makes sense

Colgate Gator1 votes

somethingsomething light has no mass.

Although Velkoz's attacks look far more like plasma, which does have mass...HRM...

DeathBurst1 votes

Mordekaiser's E isn't block either.

FantasySniper1 votes

This is because "linear area of effects" technically aren't projectiles.

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

it blocks viktors E though

Ra1uga1 votes

Ive seen a Yasuo try to windwall a flying Cho'Gath from a lee sin kick.

Hovering Hentai1 votes

Best thing as Velkoz Is killing Yasuo with the second part of your Q going around the wall xD

Kairoptra1 votes

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssss [slayer-pantheon-rainbows]

Hovering Hentai1 votes

Funny isnt it. How that Q found its way AROUND THE WINDWALL

6Sfool1 votes

....But how do you beat Yas in general as Velkoz? Between his windwall, dashes, shield, and sustain I can't make a dent in his health bar. Sure you can ult theough his windwall but he has 15 other ways of dealing with you.

Kairoptra1 votes

You're probably going to lose in cs, but as long as you keep wave clearing, he won't be able to do anything to you, either. You can always ask the jungler for help, or wait until he roams or goes b to push down his turret or just catch up on cs.

Project omen2 votes

As a Yasuo main, whenever I see a Vel koz clearing waves, if I'm level 3 and above all I see is opportunities to dash in his face and start hitting him. And if the jungler comes, I have a lot of minions to help me dash back to safety. Yasuo is a really bad matchup for Vel koz, I suggest playing it safe and let the wave come to you. You can easily freeze the lane close to your turret.

Kairoptra1 votes

Couldn't have said it better myself! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

TotalJerk1 votes

He's still melee even with windwall and his passive. every time he goes for a CS you need to make him earn it. Also if you're good at predicting dashes you can shoot skillshots at his destination. If he dashes directly on you, drop an E behind yourself.

AR URF1 votes

At first I thought I read "yasuo mains who rage at me" i was about to be like "anyone who mains yasuo already knows that or should"

Project omen1 votes

Viktor's lazer can get blocked.
