Just curious, is Double Edged Sword worth taking now at all?

Double Edged Sword gives 3% damage, and you take 1.5%. Then there's, I think it's called Battle Trance? You deal 3% damage over 3 seconds, or 5 seconds, or something, idr. Either way, it has no downsides whatsoever. Wouldn't it be better to just get the scaling mastery since they're the exact same increased damage whether you want burst or not? It shouldn't be that hard to deal damage over 3 seconds(If it's 5 seconds MAYBE I can see the appeal of double edged sword but still not sure) whether you're burst or not, especially since a lot of assassins now have their burst delayed by a decent amount anyways.

On junglers it definitely is

It really depends on role and champion. Double edged sword is good on junglers because the extra damage applies to monsters to, while battle trance only enhances damage vs champions.

If you play a high poke champion that tends to poke people down with 1-2 big spells at a time then go in for the finish, take double-edged sword. It's extra damage will apply to all applied damage. If you're playing more of a sustain skirmisher who goes in for 6-7 seconds at a time while backing out for the next trade, take battle trance. A lot of champions don't trade long enough to make full use of battle trance and it's potential.

I dunno, 3 seconds while being a long time in League, usually they're in battle long enough for it to up your damage. I don't know the full details, for example how long battle trance lasts if you were to say, auto attack them or cast a spell and then dip out and back in, but I'd think the fact that they now share the same damage kinda makes double edged sword weak on most.

They always shared the same damage my dude.

3 seconds is actually a hell of a long time in League. Kha and Ren will kill you in a bout 1, LB in 2.

Double Edged Sword is a bit of a fallacy, because you want it to do more damage than you take, but if you're squishy, you do not want to be taking more damage.

It should be good on long range mages, but even then being oneshotted even easier does not feel good. ADC's it's shit because you might do a bit more damage, but if everyone is focusing you, 5 * 1.5% means you're actually taking 7.5% more damage.

I was pretty sure before they were reduced to 3%, Double Edged Sword was 5 with 1.5 while Battle Trance was 5 for 5 seconds(longer period of time to proc it so it made it a bit more of an extended fight needed to get full damage out of it). I don't think LB can kill someone in 2 seconds, though I guess I can see her needing the damage earlier than 2 seconds in(before she deals her main part of the damage). But in the case of assassins I pretty much always run with Bounty Hunter anyways, as you're supposed to be roaming and getting kills, and as an assassin you should usually get at least 3% of it.

Doubleedged sword can be used in lane though, so it can help you snowball where you might not have.

LB can 100% kill someone in 2 seconds. That's how long it takes her passive to proc right?

She needs more than 2 spells to kill someone though. Usually she needs to proc her passive by Wing into minions near the enemy, Q to proc her passive on the minions and the enemy, which weakens them, then go back in afterwards to E them, holding them in place and having it proc itself on them to kill them, maybe with another spell afterwards. That's at the very least I'd think. Though the last time I played Leblanc she hadn't been nerfed except for her waveclear.

Perhaps in lane, later on a E+Q+W should be plenty I think, or a E+Q+W+R or some shit. I just have painful memories of being oneshot by E.

One of the few laners it synergizes well with is Tryndamere for obvious reasons.

It works for jungle clear unlike the other two and the higher speed or fruits at least makes up for the damage intake. And with your first ganks it's most impactful. Works nicely with their ambush playstyle. And 3 seconds to ramp up is too long in a gank. It's a must for ranged junglers especially.
