Bringing back a recent post: Can promos just be deleted?

I mean, due to Riot's new placement system, it placed me a about a tier and a half from what I was last season...

I remember my friend telling me that she placed into Gold 4 by somehow afking for a game (which counts as 3 lost games) and not even having a high streak of wins. How does that make any sense? I had about 8-2 on my first promos and placed Gold 5 last season.

So I thought, ok, let's climb whatever.

Manage to lose promos 6x in a row, by some teammate either afking, being toxic, or more rarely...being outplayed/picking wrongly. The latter tends to happen to every lane but mine, but sometimes it would be my lane that messes up admittedly.

Every game I still get +26 or +28 etc, and every loss is like a -14...But for some reason, last two games I lost didn't even count to my LP, so it's still sitting at 75 LP meanwhile it should be 50ish...

One of those games before that (when I lost promos for the 6th time), I asked the lee (who was last pick under me) if he wanted jung or top...no reply...I just go top, then he gets mad at me for not farming as Darius vs Lissandra...Not that easy as melee vs ranged. Then starts to just afk/leave game/not help lanes until he dies a few times, then avoid afk detection by coming back periodically until the game ends via surrender. Not to mention yelling at people for no reason. Promo lost.

No other moba has promos, they just have 'climb as high as you can consistently'...And every time someone does have promos is a call for anxiety and a wish for luck that you don't get stupid/toxic teammates for those 2-5 games. Gold is seen as the 'same as Bronze/Silver basically', but I've been hearing lately that Plat 1-5 and D5 is even worse than Silver, which concerns me cause I have to climb all of those at some point.

Elo hell exists but Riot wants me to get out of it apparently...I just can't win seem to win 2 games in a row in such a toxic era of this game.

Just played 1/3 of my 7th promo games. Ezreal dced every 2 minutes and Xin wasn't paying attention to his Devourer stacks for half the match. Surprise surprise.

To start, provisionals are based on your previous year's elo. For example, if you're a Season 4 Challenger and you go 0/10, it'll put you in Low Plat. If you're a Season 4 Bronze and you go 10/0, it'll put you in High Silver. The highest possible rank you can receive from provisonals is Platinum 1.

Second, I understand climbing can be extremely frustrating, especially when you think you're good enough. The fact of the matter is, though, if you were good enough to deserve an elo higher than where you are, you'd be able to carry any troll/afker/feeder. For example, when I'm in my promotions, I'll play Vayne, because she's my best champion. Whenever I play Vayne, I'm confident I can come out of lane with more cs than the enemy laner no matter what champion they play (even if they pick Caitlyn), and I can come out of lane with no deaths. At this point, all that matters is my positioning in team fights. If I properly position myself and pay attention to who to focus when, the team fight is won. Typically, if you're playing an AP or AD Carry, you should be directly behind the bruiser (maybe about 100 or 150 pixels away but still make sure if a skillshot is thrown that it hits the bruiser) but as far back from the front line/tanks. You should never be anywhere near the tanks, and you should be kiting properly.

Lastly, I see that you main support, preferably Leona. In Bronze, it's a horrible idea to main support, but it's amazing that you're comfortable supporting so in case you are forced to support, you already have good knowledge on it. Originally, I was a toplane main, but eventually I realized that toplane doesn't make an impact on the game where the impact needs to be. If toplane feeds during laning phase, it makes no difference. Toplane has no impact on the game until teamfights start. So I switched to Midlane, but I realized that I'm not good at roaming and that sets teams behind. I also realized that everybody sucked donkey dick at Marksman, so I decided to become a Marksman main. Realistically, to climb elo you'd want to be a jungle main, as the jungler makes the most impact on the entire game. However, being an AD Carry or Midlane main makes an even bigger impact late game if you can position yourself properly. It's your choice whether you main Mid or Marksman, but both of them make a huge impact in teamfights, and as I always say, "It doesn't matter how you perform in lane, it matters how you perform in team fights." Just don't feed.

P.S. To clear your doubts on plat+ being worse than silver, it's not. Silver is the definition of elo hell. You'll never play anything more annoying than silver. The thing about Plat is that the games are harder because you actually have to focus immensely, and any mistake you make could cost you the game. Plats play at such a fast pace and pay attention/react to every mistake you make. Going to ward that bush without someone with you? They'll make sure to catch you out. Stepping too far to hit a minion? They'll be sure to get big trade off. Going for Dragon or Baron while the entire team is up? May as well just forfeit. Also, Platinum players NEVER, and I mean NEVER forfeit. They play to win, no matter how far behind they are. Platinum is the hardest elo to play in, but Silver is the hardest elo to climb.

Snip

My choice of champs tend to be subpar when it comes to theirs (ie, they pick fotms while I just pick..whoever may not get countered). Like, I see people abusing the fuck out of certain champs with Sated Devourer or Ezreal with Runeglaive, so I might start to do that myself to get out of bronze at least. But then again, I don't have Ezreal. I saw an Irelia with Sated last game and that was honestly terrifying. She ripped apart their Voli like nothing..with only a Randuins+Veil+some health items. There was nothing stopping her unless she overextended a bit too far. Jung's not my best role. I've used Yi in it and it seems to work for the most part, but I doubt I can outsated a Jax or Shyv or Irelia or something with him. Rengar's not tanky enough in this meta, even if he can 100-0 someone in 0.04s (you have to rely on a crit anyway).

Maybe I can try jung with Xin if my team lets me. It seems that I can't have my cake and eat it in this elo. I gotta set electric fences around it and hide it in Portal 1.
