Is it possible to change how supports climb in ranked?

I don't mean gain lp or lose less lp, I mean in how you are chosen with other players. I notice alot of times that the support mains struggle to jump a divisions not from bad play, but the mmr differences in team compositions.

With trio- quad queue's the one person missing is the support.

This guy has to settle with inflated/ deflated mmr well already having a handicap of money issues. On the other side of the field the support may be not as well, but the other laners/ jungle will have the mmr to compensate for it.

Thus even if you can't carry as a support or roam effectively That top, mid laner will most likely gain a lead over yours and creates an illusion that you think your actually playing with better players, but in reality your giving your whole team a handicap.

As a support main of 6 years let me say a few things.

-"BUT SUPPORTS CAN CARRY!!%@!$@#" - myth. A support can carry a bad adc but not a bad PLAYER. A bad adc will probably lose lane due to inexperience, they usually play overly cautious and don't know how to trade or not telegraph ganks, but the general game knowledge is there. Positioning is a universal skill among all roles, knowing what to build and when is a universal skill among all roles. If I'm playing Janna, for example, and my Lucian decides his first item is going to be Greeves then builds into RFC, there's absolutely nothing i can do to correct that. If my adc is terrible at last hitting, i can't help with that, if my adc thinks he's a tank and dashes into fights blindly, I can't correct that. It sucks because usually you can tell if your adc is bad or not in the first 5 minutes or so. Sometimes just the way they navigate their champion tells how well they play.

-If you're playing support alone in dynamic queue and your adc is bad, your best bet is to roam and go help winning lanes because they are the ones who are going to carry and have a much better chance of winning you the game. Realize this doesn't mean abandoning the bot lane all together and going to sit in someone elses lane. It means roaming to a lane, helping ward, clear out enemy wards, hold a lane while they back etc.

after 6 years I decided to switch roles. I'm learning adc now, luckily a lot of skills of support translate well into the adc role, mainly lane mechanics.

I know what you mean, if I play support its generally kennen support.

I used to be a old poppy main jungler so I'm already used to we need a real tank w.e but He just works so well at roaming clearing wards and poking. The W nerf hurt him a bit, though he is still strong.

As far as problems with last hitting its one reason why relic shield is just better for him early game then spell thief. and if someone disconnects I can fill a role pretty easily with decent wave clear. https://youtu.be/hBwrGdUxr90?t=48 This may help you.
I like to use my warding skills with teemo, since he is basically a adc and support mixed into one champion which just helps his assassinating. love movement speed to dodge skill shots

Haha. I rarely play rank actually, but I appreciate you reading half of it at least I based it mostly on when I would have 6-8 wins in a row; climbing isn't to hard for me.

I agree that support gets thrown in with premades far more often than other roles.

I actually stopped playing support about a week ago once I realized I could trade a slightly longer queue time for a slightly lower chance of a toxic game
