Discussion on Kog'Maw

I knew about the rework and had played Kog before as AP, but hadn't played against one since (or at least a good one that I can recall), but holy hell did my team get obliterated. That W + item 3153 + item 1419 + item 3085 + Soraka = Unkillable.

Although we didn't have as much CC as I'd expect is needed to deal with him, even when we did land everything perfectly it was useless. Just couldn't burst him down... And then a second later he'd be back to full health and half the team was dead.

Looking at the 53% win rate as both a Jungler and an ADC, though, something seems a bit off on his kit. And then I looked at the build path.

I never thought I'd see the day where a champion's W is maxed before a single point is ever put in Q, and I can understand why. Shredding a bit of Armor / MR is pointless when all your power comes from items' on hit effects and the % health damage. Why is there so much power in a single skill? And, since all the power is in that skill, why is it not more limited (it seems better than many champions' ults in my opinion). It seems very counter intuitive to a champion design to place 95% of their kit on a regular ability.

Maybe I just don't know too much about him, but I'm really curious as to what his rework aimed to do... and why it just seems off the mark.

I'm sick of his ult's damage when you build AP. To top it off, they upped the mana cost by 10, which is HUGE when your ability stacks mana costs. Not only that, they nearly doubled the time it takes for your ult's mana cost to drop back down to 50. They need to up the AP Ratio on his ultimate by 10%, making it 30% at 50% or above HP, 60% at below 50% HP, and 90% at 25% or below HP.
