Herald leveling up while you're fighting it?

I was trying to solo Rift Herald, and while I was fighting it, it leveled up, giving it more health while I was fighting it. Is this supposed to happen or is this a bug? Not really sure thought I'd ask

It happened at around 14 minutes I believe

It wasn't because you are fighting it, herald levels up depending on the average level of players i believe. or its time based not 100% sure xD

Yeah, it's supposed to happen. Dragon, Baron, and Rift Herald level up anytime the average champion level in the game goes up, while normal jungle camps level up only after they are cleared.
