Just a little positivity for the Boards today

In a game with so many hateful and mean players, I just want to tell a little happy story (which is true).

I have a guy on my friends list who I have no idea how I added him. He was just there, and he'd been there for a long time. I'd never played a game with him or ever sent him a message. However, I saw his summoner name and I thought it was a really sick name. So I told him. I also wished him a happy thanksgiving, and he wished me the same.

I log on today, and he had sent me a mystery skin. This guy who I just talked to for the first time a few days ago spent money on me. So I did the same for him, and I feel great.

Seriously people go out of their way to be negative on good threads. That's disgusting guys ... anyways happy to see two people being so generous and kind in these times. Hope you guys end up going to new heights in ranked and achieve your dreams in real life :)

An enemy lee sin kicked my ass once. Then he steam rolled the game. He was nice and didn't taunt or call anyone bad. I sent him a mystery skin after the game. His premade friends then added me asking for mystery skins. I told them one day if their lucky.

To this day, they have not received a mystery skin.

The lonely neckbeard I work with probably eats better and is happier in life than almost anyone else I know. Not everybody is depressed and sad because they are alone, stop projecting your own insecurities on everybody around you. (Then maybe you won't be so lonely!)

Just because I one day make it to silver but can't get higher doesn't relate to getting personal over what you describe as a difference of opinion, which was, in reality, just that guy talking to you the way you'd been talking to others.

Tbh, I think the one other thing defining modern liberals besides entitlement and (in)tolerance is a lack in ability to tell when someone is simply being silly, stupid, or yanking other people's chains and thinks that all of those things are offensive/rude.

Correction: the joke must have more finesse when dealing with strangers than with friends. The troll in question was a bit heavy handed given the circumstances. Dark humor or absurdly critical statements can be very hilarious if done right, but this was a bit too pedestrian for my tastes.

The political jab should have been replaced with a jab pertaining to League else it comes across as disconnected from the situation at hand.

Just calling it like I see it. I didn't see conservatives rioting out in the street because of a black president in '08, and I don't see any serious form of demand for conservative safe spaces either at college or on the internet.

This did not happen in '92, it did not happen in '00, and it certainly did not happen in '08.

I can find parodies of both Bush and Obama with Hitler staches drawn on. I can find pictures of people exercising their freedom to insult Bush for his cowboy heritage and being an idiot as Obama for being black. I can find bumperstick police on both sides of the aisle claiming that the other will destroy this country forever.

I can't however find a group of white people beating the shit out of a 50 something year old black man who voted for Obama and then carjacking him. I can't find a huge flood of imbeciles marching through the streets of DC protesting the duly elected Bush or Obama. And for the record, I also didn't see some random college kid charge the stage at an Obama rally to try to take away his microphone.

This idea that Obama and his wife being parodied as gorillas in a photoshop is morally equivalent to beating the shit out of people and destroying their property is honestly disgusting.

Plus, I base my politics on reality, so if someone can provide good, hard evidence that contradicts how I understand reality, I'm quite grateful no matter the circumstances or context because I'd rather be right and humbled that 'right' and obstinate.

If we're going to get all literal up in here, then I would not describe that Milwaukee burned to the ground either even though a gas station literally exploded. Obviously this isn't Atlanta, Georgia circa 1864 and the slash and burn all the way to Savannah. I have a charitable view of others such that if I use some rhetoric, they will still know what I literally mean.

There were cops shot and injured in Oakland. Several cities have had stores looted and severely damaged. People have broken out into actual riots. Riots are not protests. Riot have violence. The police used tear gas and flash grenades to dissipate the rioters. Isolated events of brutal assault on Trump voters has been documented.

Every president's election brings some people who are particularly disgruntled and rebel anyway in their own nonsensical way because they like being edgy, but any implication that the response to Trump's election is in any way run of the mill is, honestly, sinfully disingenuous.

It's entitled because you're assuming that your respect defacto means anything in this context. Perhaps if we were colleagues or close friends, it would mean something, maybe even a lot. But I've never seen your IGN before, I've probably never met you irl, and I probably never will.

Maybe if this subcommunity is fairly tight-nit, and I post frequently, and we have more altercations where we can agree to disagree, and we can see how the other one is positively contributing to the community in their own way above and beyond what is average, then our mutual respect might actually mean something.

I plan to be unabashed about my divisive opinions regardless of how many downvotes I get or how many people call me whatever buzzword is hot at the time.

It's entitled because you're weighing your "sense of respect" above others. You're sorta saying that the person doesn't deserve respect because of the conflicting opinion. This could be wrong; you could just not have respect for strangers, but nonetheless, strangers, and people need to be respected.

If a guy supports Trump, don't disrespect him. If you haven't had much interaction with him, don't generalize and call him stupid; one of the main arguments against Trump is his racism and stereotyping of minorities. You needn't do the same
