Why not make him more of a skillful generalist and less of a 1HKO?

Introduce E as a double cast ability, first cast electrocharges blitz so that his autos become AoE (+AP) for ~5 seconds. Second cast ends the first cast to perform an auto attack reset as on live.

Slightly increase CD on his ult to compensate, reduce Rocket Grab's hitbox so that he can actually be impressive; hooking through minions instead of relying on a giant hitbox. It's not Q's hitbox, but it's pretty darn close.

And there he can waveclear as a solo laner and a jungler without taking from his support ability. AD players happy, free waveclear so you can build instead of . AP happy, you can actually waveclear without using your ult.

Or they could just revert the w nerf and balance his power around his grab instead of changing one of the things that makes him a good solo laner

STEP 1: Pick Blitzcrank and put on the Blue Chroma [IMPORTANT: YOU WILL LOSE IF YOU DON'T]

STEP 2: Spam JUNGLE in chat and then pick summoner 11 and summoner 4

STEP 3: Go to lolhen... i mean, take a cup of tea while waiting for game to load

STEP 420: Buy a item 1039 and start W, then do a Krug ( summoner 11 ) - Red - Blue - Gromp ( again) Wolves -- Raptors clear

STEP 5: Recall and buy Chilling Smite and a item 1027 OR boots

STEP 6 to 9000: Rush item 3707 and item 3070 . Then grab a item 3025 , a item 3110 , a , a item 3022 or a item 3102 based on their team comp. Upgrade tear into item 3042 and get item 3158 , item 3284 or item 3111 .

STEP 9001: Instawin. Thrust me.

As an avid AD Blitzcrank player, the one thing that seemed to be overlooked about the W changes by Riot is that Blitz's attack speed steroid lost 3 seconds. That's huge! I tried jungling , and needless to say it is abysmal.

In terms of the top lane, I find myself no longer able to force extended skirmishes. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing because Blitz is insanely fast for the first second of his W. This allows him to close the gap between him and the enemy laner very quickly, and in my experience it often catches the opponent by surprise. This allows me to land E plus a few auto attacks and then retreat before the slow kicks in if I am not going to all-in the enemy laner.

Blitz is currently enjoying his place on my permaban list. The W change was pretty pointless and did not address his toxic play style. Getting pretty tired of this cross-screen grab-fest.

Blitz was a strong solo top against lower sustain top laners right up until his nerf. losing the attack speed duration in addition to speed nerf makes his ability to fight top much harder.

Riot also refused to update his attack point, since it makes the dreaded Q->E more effective, this also hurts him in lane.

Unfortunately all riot has done with the changes has taken blitz out of vogue at high level play, and instead brought thresh back into every game. Who saves more characters with latern then blitz ever could with hooks at high level.

People love putting the "One hook could win the game!" nonsense out there. One thresh hook can win the game, one lantern pull on an all in on the ADC can win the game. One sej ult can win the game. its a parroted phrase which people will spit out because they heard someone say it once before, without really thinking of what is trying to be said.

Hell, one hook can lose the game too, if you try to hook that ADC and the enemy top or jungler has flash up, they can just as easily flash into your line of fire and end the game with a free initiation that is a disaster for your team.

Just add a passive to his Q that is only active when hook is not on CD

For example

-blitz regains 1% of his missing hp and mana when he kills a target, this effect is disabled while Q is on CD, this gives him sustain to help with solo laning and benefits solo lane more than jungle making him able to solo lane better without jump starting his jungle ability and will have much lower impact for support blitz (edit: because he isn't last hitting things)

I think some work could be done with blitz just in general. He feels clunky, which I guess is thematic in a way, but idk he's just goony now. Playing him support I rarely buy sightstone since it's too expensive most games, and just opt for an upgraded yellow trinket instead.

I had the same thought, was trying AD blitz top because of his as steroid and his auto attack reset. The problem I had was that his auto attack is really unresponsive and clunky.

He was meant to be a solo top.

But as long as his hook remains such a god like tool, he will always be played as support instead.

You'd have to reduce the range on his grab in order to buff him significantly anywhere else. A hitbox change isn't going to cut it.

I am personally fine with him the way he is. His hook power is strong. If he catches someone, especially a damage dealer, his team basically won the game if its late game. He can also do this no matter how fed he is, meaning he can basically feed all game, but pull off a godly hook then win the game. What makes him bearable is that he isn't that good as a solo laner. His only good waveclear is his ultimate, which he needs to use to kill someone with(if AP). He doesn't really have the ability to fight against more competitive picks, which is fine because of how strong his hook is.

same as alistar...you don´t want him to be really effective as a jungler/sololaner (though he already is a rather strong pocketpick in both roles).

I actually spent a lot of time in bot games trying to perfect this. It's fine on the practice field, but for some reason I could never get it to translate to actual games. And of course you have to convince your teammates to allow you to jungle Blitz. I've had a lot of success with Leona and Alistar, although they are considerably slower than AD Blitz.

His W change really messed up his jungle ganking, but I've still found a bit of success with him in the jungle after the changes. Have to ambush the enemy from behind now instead of charging from the side with W

Seriously though, you REALLY don't want to see Blitzcrank become a viable solo laner. He scales VERY well with items, and Hydra is amazing for AD Blitz anyways because of the active and massive synergy with his E allowing him to triple attack. You really don't need a botrk because you're aiming to kill the enemy ADC/Assassin/Mage. Not necessarily the tanks
