Damage reduction abilities like Garen W and Annie E should reduce true damage taken.

These are skill expressions. Knowing when to best use them is a key part of the champs.

With I.E. now dealing true damage, make there be some way to reduce such damage.

just dont put true dame on infinity edge crits.

it should be more like something along the lines of fervor of battle, or an attack speed buff that applies and refreshes on crits. just a more conventional method of increasing dps.

i really dont like this new trend of giving every carry true damage. be it via conqueror or the new infinity edge. conqueror could just grant armor pen. the problem is like you stated, that it kinda shits on % damage reduction abilities in champion kits, that are intended to be good and absorb a bunch of damage when utilized correctly.

i dont know. this just feels like a dangerous path to go down. they might have to compensate by ramping up the % damage reduction values of all the champions who use the stat. which sounds like power creep and a binary relationship. % damage reduction becomes op when you dont have conqueror or infinity edge, or its useless when too many people are running it.

its going down the same route as grievous wounds and heals, where one of the two always seems way too strong.

That literally goes against the definition of true damage. True Damage is not affected by damage reduction abilities. The abilities you mentioned are damage reduction abilities.

What would be the point of true damage if it didn't do what it was designed to do?

True damage isn't effected by resistance stats. This isnt a resistance stat.

Correction; True damage ignores damage modifiers too. Tragically annoying.

I don't mean to be that guy but if you did that the the damage wouldn't be true damage, it would be just damage. Also ignite would be useless.

It would still be True damage. True damage is damage unaffected by armor or magoc resist. These abilities are neither.

The best way to reduce true damage is to get more health. True damage deals the same exact number to the target regardless of resistances, so if you have more health then you will have an easier time surviving from stuff that deals true damage.

Or you can just have your team focus on who ever is dealing the true damage in a team fight to kill him/her before that person can use said true damage

This works beautifully until you face a Cho.

True damage is stupid and shouldn't even exist in the first place. You don't even need it to kill tanks. All you really need is lifesteal and a tiny bit of magic resist.

True damage is there to deal with said tanks, there are a lot of tanks that if built correctly can deal a lot of damage while tanking a lot of damage, for example nasus: he can deal a lot of physical damage, while through his ult he can also become very hard to kill. But having true damage, such as vayne’s w passive, helps the enemy team deal with nasus before he gets a penta kill and takes down all of your turrets after a team fight.

I mean if you want the game to have counterplay to true damage the solution is simple: STOP GIVING EVERYONE TRUE DAMAGE!

Or maybe make shields more available to the general board.
