Exhibit B on this meta being a joke
So I made a post before about how this game's snowballing issue and early-game focus could literally just boil down to who chose the right champs this meta, teamcomp be damned. That game is here and that post is here.
To reiterate: the reason the enemy team had lost that game was because they did not push their lead to the end. They played scared when we advanced on them, allowing my team to clear supers until doomsday and fight back against them, whereas had they just attacked the Nexus the game would have been over.
Once again, it had taken the enemy Udyr a total of about 38 seconds to take two towers and a fucking inhib as well as kill me on Swain while I was ulting after taking our inhibitor tower. Including the time to take the inhibitor tower, he spent about a total of 46 seconds destroying our base.
#I present to you now exhibit B where I am now the one with the "correct" champion.
In this game, my team was out-comped from the getgo, the enemy packing a massive amount of stuns as well as the proper burstiness to back it up, with Ezreal's poke to even soften up my team for the dive - my team had no synergy and no practical odds in a team fight, so vastly outmatched that we were doomed to surrender hiding under turrets until we were bled out of them with practically no range to go against Ez's poke.
So that's where I came in.
All my team did was hold out under turrets and occasionally distract the enemy team/prevent them from backing, and that's exactly how they should have played and what I wanted from them - because from that point on I split-pushed and tore down their defenses.
Gangplank chose the wrong champion for the game, getting only the first kill on me due to me stupidly engaging on way too many enemy minions (I ate about 300-400 or so damage in minion aggro). I then came back to lane, killed him, engaged on him and forced him out of lane again, and then killed him when he came back to lane again. Gangplank ended up losing tower to me alone, no other help required at 8:30 minutes. Had my Jax been there for that, it would have been much earlier. Gangplank is such a late-game champion compared to Yorick I practically walked through him like he didn't matter. And he didn't.
From then on, the game was down to me and Akali, who could carry harder - and I could. Obviously. Because I wasn't an AP team-fighting assassin who feasted mostly on squishies, I was a duelist carry who feasted on anyone who thought a 1v1 was a good idea.
With how much farm I was getting mixed in with my gold I had gotten just from turrets alone, I was already toe-to-toe with Akali for over half the game in terms of gold, and despite her kill lead being massive, even Akali couldn't solo me, instead escaping over walls any and every time she tried to fight me.
Reasons why Yorick was the "correct" choice number 1: Yorick can solo practically anyone.
To the enemy team, this meant that somebody had to split off to deal with me. This ended poorly every time - their teammate would get killed and I would get turret. So the alternative was to try and instead take down towers quickly.
Reasons why Yorick was the "correct" choice number 2: Yorick destroys turrets absurdly quick.
Turn your attention to the enemy team's comp and examine it closely - of their teamcomp, the quickest tower killer that they have is Gangplank, and he isn't among the best tower killers - he is pretty good at it, don't get me wrong, but of the absolute best, Gangplank is on the lower end of that.
All other members of their team cannot kill towers quickly. Akali tried to split-push against me 3 different times and didn't take the turret even after hitting it for over 20 seconds total with minion support. This was our bot-lane secondary turret.
So after trying to use my strategy against me, the enemy team realized they legitimately did not have the tools to pull it off. Even had Gangplank gone, he paid for it every time with another death and more objectives. You can see this at 23:44 where he manages to kill a secondary turret and then I immediately 100/0 him for it. Akali dies around the same time, enabling me to push in top-lane during that time while my team goes and takes dragon - logically, the enemy team either lets us have the infernal dragon for free and just halts my push top or they send Akali to try to solo me when she gets back and they go to contest dragon when GP gets up. These two fights are relatively even.
#Akali loses the solo fight with me still at near full health and she runs, and the enemy team outright loses the dragon fight. I took two turrets before the enemy could send another champ to help her.
Basically, Akali's team couldn't fight without her, and yet she was needed to try and fight me.
With the enemy having an open inhib now on top side, I headed bot and told my team to go start baron. I gave the enemy a catch 22:
Let me take your botlane, or let my team take baron and we push harder anyway.
The enemy team chose the smarter option, fighting at baron. They sent Ezreal to try to hold me off because Ezreal has a blink to help him get away in-case things go south. He found out that his E really doesn't mean much if I could permaslow him with my E and Frozen Mallet anyway, so he died. Enemy team takes baron and backs, but I've already taken inhibitor at that point.
#Keep in mind between taking their inhibitor turret and their inhibitor, I had to walk the distance between their turret and their inhib on top of killing Ezreal in this amount of time, who had E'd and even tried to use BotRK to get away. Given there is only 10 seconds between me taking their tower and taking their inhibitor, it probably took about 3-4 seconds for me to take one objective.
#It takes 8 seconds to recall. 4 seconds to recall with baron. I can kill a tower in the amount of time it takes to recall, period.
#That is how much of a fucking joke towers are right now.
At this point of the game, my team had permanent pressure against the enemy team and they could not push out against me. All I instructed my team to do was wait out baron and clear and if the enemy tried to force down mid, just distract them while I took their base again. It took the enemy 3 minutes to make anything of their baron and only took a secondary mid turret. The enemy team desperately tried to take another objective the next minute while I just patiently sat in their bot jungle making sure it wasn't warded and waiting for them to be preoccupied with even trying to push.
Baron ends at this point. They're all mid on the map. I pop out of the jungle and push bot into their Nexus.
The enemy manages to get two people to recall while my team catches the other 3 mid-recall. My team kills the 3v4 while I take the enemy's nexus turrets with next to no issues even with an Akali/Gangplank trying to kill me.
The game is effectively over at this point. With super minions at their Nexus, my team freely takes the mid turret and inhib as Akali or GP trying to fight a 2v2 would take too long and probably end up with their Nexus falling. They have no pressure whatsoever anymore and no turrets, and my team freely takes the second baron and pushes in for the win.
41 kills to 28 kills, my team wins completely.
#Before I get the "Oh the enemy was chasing kills" response, no and no. The enemy was winning most fights against anyone that was not me and was focused on trying to keep me in check while also trying to take objectives.
#The fact is the enemy chose wrong. It didn't matter if the enemy team had better teamwork, better teamfight overall, could win as a team or otherwise. The enemy did not choose a good enough tower killer/enough tower killers period to beat my push. In the amount of time it took them to win a dive under tower, I could already push to their turret and have it down before they could respond with a recall post-fight.
Reasons why Yorick was the "correct" choice number 3: Towers die faster than a team can reasonably respond.
I would like to remind everyone: This is one of the burstiest seasons, in which teamfights can last all but 5 seconds sometimes.
But because the enemy couldn't then kill a tower fast enough afterward, I won. It didn't matter what they did because I hit minions. It didn't matter what they did because I blew up whoever tried to stop my push, and when they sent two people their team couldn't win the fight.
I chose right. They didn't. That's what it boiled down to.
Fuck that.
