Assassins after the rework

Rock MD··2 votes·617 views

From a list of 13 assassins (4 major updates, 6 minor tweaks), this is where they are.

Akali Ekko Fizz KatarinaKhazix Leblanc Rengar ShacoTalon Zed

Leblanc Katarina - significantly more skillful play is required, but in the right hands they're absolutely buffed. Kat is jumping all over the place, LeBlanc is still one-shotting with more ease than ever.

Khazix - Kha'Zix is essentially in the same spot as before, but stronger. This is opposite of Akali Zed , who are in the same spot but weaker.

Ekko - Never been the greatest assassin, but now his best build got dicked. Doesn't see much play anymore for that reason. Opposite that is Fizz who is in all likeliness better as a bruiser now because of the way his W works. Couldn't have seen that coming for the 3rd time in what, 2 years? Shark's initiate doesn't help either. Rengar also likely falls under this pattern as he is nigh impossible to shake off now.

Shaco - Weirdest change, better off as an AP champion now.

Talon - Probably one of the worst of the changes. Cool new design w/ new toys. Numbers simply aren't good enough to justify it.

Overall Leblanc Katarina Khazix Fizz Rengar Shaco are in better spots so idk why people were upset with the rework "ruining" assassins. Killing old playstyles? I get that but Riot kinda was trying to do that to encourage healthier playstyles that didn't one-shot mids/adcs just off something absurdly cheesy.

The only people that should really be unhappy are the mains of the shittier champions and the Shaco players who somehow ended up with an AP champion.

Healthier != more fun.

If you're at a restaurant two-fisting a thick 1/3 lb hamburger full mushroom and onion dripping with cheese and bacon piled on an inch thick, and some douchebag waiter snatches it out of your hands after the first bite and plinks a chef's salad in front of you "because it's healthier", you'd be pretty justified in getting really pissed off about it.

That's a shit analogy because fun is a two-way thing.

I mean I can say Vi is fun all day as I go 5/0 and just steamroll adcs, but is that honestly fun for the adc, who has no way out except QSS+Flash (have to burn both)? How about the support who can't peel you off? What about the jungler or toplaner you strictly outduel?

The hamburger/salad analogy only focuses on you. What fun YOU can get out of it and doesn't even think to mention how the people you play with feel about your champion.

No it's not. If you have fun with a champion it's always fun, even if you're losing. If your champion is not fun (usually because it's abilities have been redesigned to fail) than it will never be fun.

Build armor, build health. Problem solved.

How about the support who can't peel you off?

Practice more, get better defensive/support items, or ward better.

What about the jungler or toplaner you strictly outduel?

Bring help, or force objectives. This is not a killing game, this is an objective game - we won a game where our team had a massive death deficit and were basically unable to fight the enemy but outmaneuvered them and split-pushed them to death.

"Fun to play" is vastly more important than "Not fun to fight". This is because when a champion is fun to play, the people who have fun with that champion will have fun, even in a losing game. However people who complain about X champion not being fun to fight will never be happy or satisfied or have fun, because they'll simply find a new champion to complain about.

If a person complains about a champion on the boards, often with the words "toxic" or "unhealthy" or "cancer", that type of person will never be happy, ever. As such, any changes made in regards to that will only result in making happy people unhappy.

i know how u feel... all my main champions have been reworked and stopped being fun... even if in several cases they became stronger it reached a point that i gave up on playing the game altogether and riot lost a support player... something they desperately have problems getting... because they aren't building for my archetype... i did a whole long comment on soraka and to a lesser extent other champions here http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/kpJ2xVng-soraka-is-just-bad-game-design?comment=0006

This Assassin rework was a disaster, but, at the same time, I am happy with it.

Some people aren't happy because for the vast majority of us they are just weaker for our skill levels. Kat is definitely better in skilled hands but the majority of players aren't skilled. It's like azir all over again which isn't a great spot to be in for any champion. Fizz isn't really in a better spot he is just healthier for his opponents. Riot basically claimed he would be more slippery while doing nothing to actually make him more slippery. Rengar is getting his nerfs so eh. Talon Q_Q I've been waiting for changes to that champion for years and I was overjoyed when I heard new passive but it wasn't worth this. The reworks for some cases are healthier but I think any adc or mage player would say they are healthier since they get to kill you much more easily while you work harder to do the same.
