A few months ago, when Essence Reaver went live, there was some discussion of creating an intermediary item to help with builds. Since then, no word about this.
I've heard speculation that the reason for this is that the balance team doesn't want champs like Yorick to exploit the extra mana regen, but that may not necessarily be true.
Are there still plans to make this intermediary item or have they been abandoned?

Ðelofasht1 votesMight be in how you are playing it, very good on AD casters (Crit is better for anyone who can benefit from the crit on their abilities). Only a few of these in the game, but the build path doesn't really support them either.
Ðelofasht1 votesI think it could really do for an intermediary item, Vamp Scepter + Idol + Pick Axe + gold = Essence Reaver. The Idol has CDR on it already and mana regen. Pickaxe + Idol almost same cost as BF as well. I don't think this pushes the power level up at all and pickaxe builds into a lot of optional items for different laning opponents for many champs too.
Basically the cost becomes 2 Pickaxes, a Vamp Scepter, and an Idol plus like 50 gold for a Reaver. . . seems like a fair cost with the same amount of damage stats and just an Idol thrown in to give it the Mana element and CDR which it currently gains from nothing and just gold cost.
