give me a reason to pick ekko when ryze is ekko 5.0

If you mess the combo or Ryze, you will die... Ekko has 2 escapes and a good slow to kite.

I LoL'ed when I saw this. Much stronger, than ekko.. nice.

besides that ekko can do all of the damage of ryze's kit in one ability, deals %hp damage, is ALSO RANGED WITH ABILITIES almost twice ryze's range. He's more tanky than ryze, he has escapes(3-4), his stun is nearly invisible while ryze telegraphs everything he's going to do

ekko's only weakpoint is that he's melee...and even that is void with his double flash distance E and area denial gameplay

a) Ryze and Ekko are nothing alike except they are both AP

b) Ignoring a), here are some reasons to take Ekko over Ryze: 1) Massive mobility for both engage and escape 2) AoE stun 3) Poke through minion waves and front line 4) Huge AP ratios 5) Neon cricket bat

Oh yes I forgot about Ryze's "oops" button and his dash with an auto-attack that teleports him to his opponent. Silly me, they're practically the same champion.

What elo is it that Ryze is causing players to rage like this about him? He still has a lower than average win rate, he's seldom picked or banned and any time I do see him in a match he's getting bullied in the laning phase, kited the rest of the time and just generally feeds.

TL DR; I'm just curious what elo Ryze is actually considered good in?

Because ekko can reliably engage on somebody and get away. With Ryze, you have to bait somebody into range to snare, and they have to be dumb enough to fight you long enough for you to kill them.
