Isn't orianna supposed to use up a lot of mana in laning phase?

I as Azir managed to use up more mana clearing the minion waves than the orianna did, yet she spammed her Q and W at the minion wave and I used W as azir once for every minion wave.

Ori kept poking me with her QW while also getting the minion wave.

I was standing 4 teemos away from the minion wave at all times(so at most Orianna would hit 1 minion from her W)

I am wondering how do I even compete with Orianna when she can both waveclear AND trade with me, while I have to expend twice the amount of mana she does to get the same effect...

And considering Orianna's insane lategame, she can out-poke Azir at anytime in the game... bringing him to half health with 2 abilities with next to no positioning skills needed, While I as azir have to burn up 2 W, an E, and a Q just to poke back at the Orianna without taking any damage.

Please tell me how do I beat orianna. Here is a list of things I've tried:

  1. . Farming passively way behind minions but she sets up her Q and simply walks SLIGHTLY into range of me and QW while I am actively moving away
  2. . Poking her(in which she simply reacts with her E and shields nearly all the damage)
  3. . All-ins but she out-damages me at every point in the game
  4. . taking a lot of MR runes seems to work until she gets MagicPen boots way before I've finished an item and causes me to become behind as a result --END LIST-- Please if someone could give some advice on how this Matchup works, I'd love to hear it. I need all the help I can get against Orianna players.

If azir does it right, he bodies Orianna. As someone that was an Orianna OTP for the longest time, I had issues with Azir after he got his nashors. However, Orianna usually is mana intensive if she levels her w and spams it. If she levels her q for the most part, mana costs stay low. Also, double dorans ring will solve her mana issues, same with as soon as she gets chapter. I have not played against the new Azir, so I cannot say if the matchup stayed the same, but my advice would be to position your soldiers so that she cannot actively get to her farm unless she does decide to spam q/w and possibly just let her push to turret and let her roam if you really can't deal with her. Honestly, your soldiers are the key, because I never want to walk into them, they hurt and they don't take damage. So for me to walk into them to try to get to you OR my cs, I'm gonna be like "nthx".

I should probs mention that the list of stuff I tried was with the New Azir.

Ori QW outranges Azir W and Azir Q by about 150 units(two and a half teemos-ish)

unfortunately the Matchup seems to have changed in Ori's favor, because she can out-range and burst down Azir when he gets into range of her QW which is forcing a good Azir to use E for the shield, use W E to dodge the move entirely, using W E Q to retaliate against Ori(then she moves Q and the slow and threat of another W stops an Azir from pressing the attack.

Just what I've noticed so far.

Although thank you for your time spent here fam!!!
