Anyone else struggilng to climb this season?

Just curious if anyone else having difficulty climbing in season 7. I did take a break from January through basically April. When I quit I was silver 3 and now after a week or so of playing am still silver 3. I know I am by no means great at this game. Last season was my highest ever season finish of gold 3. But I just don't remember struggling this much in silver 3, at least in the last couple of years. I know it's probably just me being rusty but dang the struggle has been real lol.

Anyone else struggling or just me?

I haven't really bothered trying this season. I've not enjoyed the changes to the jungle, damage creep from earlier this season, nor many of the dominating picks for the past few months.

As I've already completed my placement matches for Solo/Duo Queue, I'll probably just do my placement matches for Flex Queue at some point for the bonus end-of-season reward.

At least I'm making good progress through my backlog of games on Steam (and elsewhere).

I started silver 5 this season and currently at silver 1 this season. Every game in the low ranks are very snowbally and objective based so its a hit or miss based on how your team plays. Some games you will do good and so will your team, in other games there will be one or two lanes constantly giving a kill after kill to some champion like katarina or rengar. Not saying all games are a loss after some champion gets four kills under eight minutes but the skill of each individual on your team makes a huge difference and makes games in the low ranks very one sided.

Not yet, but platinum remains a shit hole as it was when I last quit in S4.

I remember struggling in s3-s1 A LOT in previous seasons. It seems this elo is ruled by random mostly, as new players play against smurfs in placements. As soon as I got to g5-g4 mmr, games went so much smoother, and I even rode to plat. In my experience, gold was easier than high silver.

I just miss being in it. I had more fun, games were smoother and more chill. I guess this gives me a reason to spam games right now to try and get back in. Just wish games felt more consistent so I had an idea of what to expect from the enemy team along with my own.

I had more trouble climbing through silver 1 and 2 than through plat. Teammates decide games for you, and don't let you carry them a lot of the time. Even if you're 5/0 as a mid laner they'll still play aggro bot and end up feeding instead of playing safe and letting you use your lead. I'm not even a good player, I just pick up free wins by playing passive when my team does good, and aggressive when they're losing.

Shit give me an invite next season you can carry my ass through silver hell. Been stuck because of teammates that would rather bicker and piss off the rest of the team by buying 6 tears instead of finishing the game.

I don't even know if i'd be able to carry myself out...

I stopped caring in general.

players are bad, no big

all that matters to me is the end result

nope, climbing higher than ever just by playing more games than previous seasons.

the issue im having is finding a ridiculous amount of boosted players where they dont belong. if i play 10 games (assuming 90 different players) theres a good 5~10 of them either being boosted, or doing the boosting)

like in lower ratings silver - g5 i could outweigh them, but in high gold/plat the enemy team literally bends them over and its too great a gold lead for me to climb over.

then its made worse by champion choices and throws on matchmaking picking a team of late game scalers into a team of assassins/pantheon. like wtf did you think was going to happen.

eh lower exp to get to level 30 and worse auto fill like system for the veterans nobody wins you just slightly get better every time you play

wow this got some responses quick. Yea the thing I am struggling with (besides continuing to learn the game) is what to expect from my teammates. Not that I can blame my teammates for everything going wrong I am just having trouble committing to a play style. The lack of commit is causing me to hesitate a lot, which is definitely not good. While having 3 accounts in gold last season I got used to my teammates being more chill and having a general idea of what they were thinking and could follow up with them and they wold follow up with me. Not that our plays were always great but I got used to supporting my teammates and also somewhat of an idea of what level of play to expect from the enemy. But my games right now I just... don't know what to expect from anyone. The inconsistency of enemies & teammates play along with my own has made for a pretty chaotic ranked experience.

No, ranked is going pretty smoothly for me

The struggle is real. My big issue right now is that I lose more LP for a loss than I gain from a win, so if I win four then lose three in seven games, I have the same amount of LP. Supposedly if you get a 50% win rate you can climb, but with losing more than I get, I need closer to a 70% win rate to climb... and that's not happening lately.

Some of it is my own play (I have horrid games, I will not deny this), but there are also games where you feel like you can do nothing because you're jg and all your lanes fed without being ganked by the enemy team. Ah well.

I learned that pain last year. One of my accounts I used to play with friends a lot last season since it was dynamic queue. Once I got it to gold I strictly just messed around with friends and played different champions and roles than my main. My mmr got trashed and after season I deranked out of gold. I think the account ended preseason in silver 2. I legitimately started trying on it before deranking but I was only get like 15 or less lp /win and was losing like 25 per loss. I pretty much gave up on that account. Not sure if I finished placements on it this season but If I did I am sure its in bronze 3-4 and I have no desire ranking it up. For whatever reason even though my win rate 47% on my main account I still have ok mmr so I get decent lp gains and still don't lose a ton. God forbid if that changes though. Good luck. You can do it, just going to take a lot of perseverance.

I think Solo/Duo queue has gotten a lot easier to climb since December (possibly the worst patch I've ever played on, and of course it was the one patch a year that gets left on live for a full month instead of 2 weeks), Flex queue on the other hand just feels impossible to get anywhere. Soooo many games just feel unwinnable with players who are like "LOL, ima first time Azir cause no on cares about Flex!" Honestly, I've had some of the most ridiculous teammates in Flex, ranging from a Jhin who afk-ed at the tier 1 bot tower for the first 10 minutes of the match because he was playing Hearthstone... to an ADC who went Lux, then actually built AD before rage quitting 3 minutes into the game after she determined AD Lux was not viable.

Yea I don't even want to touch Flex Queue

not me. I climbed from silver 5 to platinum 1 in one season. Still working on diamond though

I hit last year's high rank pretty quickly. This season doesn't seem much different to me.

AFK's and trolls most games. And if I can get a good game I get one player how is playing a first time champ and feeds way too much or a JG they just gets CS till they are level 10 before they decide they will help the any lane. Really it takes some luck to get a team that won't leave and works together.

I'm having great difficulty climbing. Memories of toxicity haunt me from seasons gone. Fun modes draw flaming idiots back like a swarm, serving as yet another reminder.

So no, I refuse to climb, or even touch ranked, while people like that exist.

Dukues1 votes

A lot of games I just mute everyone in game. Is it wise? Maybe not. But I just don't want to have to listen to flamers. It's not even the flamers as much as just the really stupid comments. Like "nice smite" when you try to steal a dragon/baron but miss. Going for the steal isn't exactly a guaranteed success.....

StoryDuck1 votes

Yeah, quite a bit actually. I reached plat 1 last season (stuck around there for awhile) and was even in promos once for diamond but then season 7 started and it has been the largest struggle ever to climb now and I'm perpetually stuck in plat 5-3.

The game is bleeding out in NA, so you should expect to play against more good players as they are the ones sticking around and still playing.

I've been finding it pretty easy to climb after I got out of bronze/low silver. Made it from bronze 5 to gold 1 since the start of the season... Maybe it's cuz I'm a support main and have been getting lucky...

ÈvilMorty1 votes

i was stuck between gold 4-5 for 2 months because of the match making system, but eventually turning bad games around i made it to gold 2 where i am right now, my goal is to get to plat 5 by end of season and be done with league. Getting to plat is bragging rights enough for me
