Riot "so what do our players hate the most?"

RedCyclone··14 votes·808 views

well they obviously hate assassins and they hate being hard cc'ed by assassins they also hate it when they can't peel that assassin off them as well as stopping them from farming early so they will always end up well fed being towerdived when knowing full well the assassin will get away unharmed they really hate being unable to trade with assassins because they have an insane shield hyper mobility in general

I can't help but think that this was the thought process you guys had when you made Ekko

This is not even remotely true, the boards are and always have been an unreliable source of information on the player base at large, look back at the Shurima videos, the forums had a strong hate for them but on larger fields they were well received by the masses, the last video alone has over 29000 likes and less then 600 dislikes on youtube,

this shows that their is a disconnect between the boards and the majority of league's players, we are a small percentage, so small that even a comprehensive survey could easily be missed by every forum user, and still sample over 50% of the player base,

That "Like" number is hilariously low based on Riot's sub count. RiotGamesInc has 6,826,746 subscribers, so lets guess 4-5 million at the time, so for a video to only get 29,000 likes isn't a disconnect, that means no one voted on them. There is a video also for Shurima with 1,484,545 views, but with only 21,847 likes and 713 dislikes, that means 1.47% of the people who watched the video bothered to like it and only 1.51% of the people bothered to even vote at all. A video with a similar view count has 76,565 likes, 3.5 times that of the Shurima video. That isn't encouragement, that is apathy.

Lets go one step further, of the 67 million people who play League of Legends, 0.22% of people saw the video and only 0.03% of players liked it.

In other words, your data is just as junk as the people you are mocking.

most don't even care that the story existed, i am willing to bet that video has more likes then many pages of the journal of justice has total views, the simple fact is if you listen to the boards the Shurima videos were terrible, listen to a larger slice and they overwhelmingly liked them,

Nilok1 votes

The boards weren't saying the Shurima videos were terrible, but the prerogative behind them was.

Another thing to consider is the boards and Reddit is where the most passionate and vocal of the players flock to. We are effectively Riot's focus group.

Also, the Journal of Justice was only running and active between Season 1 and early Season 2, 2010-2011, and League of Legends really got its stride going in late 2012 to 2013. Could the views have been higher if they were easier to see, possibly, but it doesn't change the fact that there were many more people active in League of Legends when the Sharima videos were released than when the Journal of Justice was.

Instead of just saying a raw number and directly comparing it to a video on YouTube three years later, give the ratio of players who viewed the JoJ compared to the active players at the time.

I tend to hate people who spam the boards with QQ threads the most.

Another Ekko QQ thread.

What people REALLY hate (besides whining) are afk's.

No he's not, he's once again another champion that anyone opposing it has 0 options while the person playing it has all the options in the world. I wish Riot would stop releasing champions that require 100x the effort to deal with than to actually play. No matter how poorly they play, or out of position the EKko is, you can not punish them because you'll just be cced and 100-0ed, even if you manage to win the 1v1 they just press R before even dying anyways. It's funny Riot basically admitted Zed pressing R to remove his mistakes was frustrating when playing against it, or LB using her W and immediately disappearing was not fun either but then they release another assassin who does just that.

Learn to play against him. And I'm being serious. I've never lost a lane to Ekko (outside of one I had dc'd repeatedly all game) His kit is strong, yes, but it also is pretty telegraphed/dodgable.
Im tired of hearing all you idiots who want him gutted.

Wow, grats on beating bad bronze Ekkos, too bad I don't have the luxury of playing with nor against them. I had an Ekko on my team on my alt feed in lane and still ended up carrying anyways.

What excuse? I would like to see you beat a Diamond 1 Ekko on your own. It doesn't matter if you can beat some Bronze 3 Ekko who doesn't know how to play.

Ekko has more counterplay to him than every assassin currently being complained about. How do you get 0 options from that? Ekko isn't that hard to deal with compared to his peers hell most of it is dodge and dont walk next to the clone. While his escape is insane he at least has counterplay to most of his skills. You act like any random person can just pick ekko and GG games over when it's not even close to that.

Staying away from him=/=counter play especially when he has the mobility AND cc to reach and prevent you from even getting away. This is a game where team fighting occurs, you can't avoid him, and this is a 5v5, not a 1v1. He has 4 team mates who will have enough CC to make sure you sit in his W (that you can't even see until the last moment)+R anyways, in addition to that he can just be used defensively and peel for his carry since for some reason an assassin needs a ton of cc.

Dodging is counterplay. His CC is all dodgable especially when compared to some of the point and clicks assassins used to have. You dont have to avoid him and I am not saying that at all. I view ekko as a numbers battle. Do I outburst him if I dodge Q and dont get stunned? Most likely. If you were standing where he was 4 seconds ago and got cc'ed for 4 seconds by his team then I would be dead after 4 seconds of doing nothing. I dont think that makes ekko special because anyone would kill you at that point. Ekkos defense is too strong in my opinion but riot will most likely end up nerfing that since his offense is too reliant on the opponent.

Because these boards are a grand example of the 30+ million playerbase.

Which I think is actually past 60million now.
