The fact that a champion like reworked Akali could make it to live is a joke

AstroFerrari ··76 votes·15,936 views

Why does an assassin have this much healing and safety? She can attack you under your own tower and her kit has so much resource regen she doesn't really have to micro manage anything. Meanwhile I'm trying to improve my GP play and my W has a longer cooldown and much stricter cost than her shroud which let's her attack me under tower.

It honestly blows my mind how Riot can look at those statistics and not realise they need to make larger adjustments to her kit to make her a fair champion. Having the highest ban rate with the lowest win rate should be enough to show them just how much people hate playing against her, but apparently this is not obvious to them

Nyarlathοtep12 votes

To be fair your example is a bit shitty. Gp's oranges are extremely strong. Also, akali's shroud starts its cooldown after it expires so yeah.

VegetaPrince226613 votes

His oranges are strong yes. But in late game when you have the mana to actually constantly use it or very spesific situations. You cant really use it constantly or you wont ever have mana.

Akali's W refunds your "Energy" .

Sexy Jack Rabbit3 votes

Why is energy in quotations.

That's exactly what it is called.

VegetaPrince22664 votes

It's just my own opinion that energy is just discount mana

The problem is less that she is "safe" in general, it's more she is "safe" in sustained fights because of shroud.

When she was announced to be reworked, a lot of players rejoiced that shroud would be changed to be more healthy. Instead riot removed the PinkWard strategy and gave her true stealth and a shroud that extended the duration when she ran in and out.

Weiss Guertena2 votes

Thing is, she is pretty much the only assassin who needs to commit to sustained fights so she actually needs a safety tool like that. Which even with her shroud makes her infinitely more fair than likes of Zed, LB or Fizz who jump at you from half a screen away, delete you in 0.5 seconds and then jump back before your team can retaliate.

That being said, invisibility to turrets is still BS. Get rid of that and she'd be fine.

IP Masquerena2 votes

Leave them be, they don't look at details, just at what they hate.

"I hate she has healing" - well, why does she need it? She's melee, has little range, can't engage from a distance if the enemy knows a little positioning, is tanky as wet tissue and is bad when behind.

"I hate her invis" - well, why does she need to have the best invis in the game? Again, she's melee, has little range, has the lowest TTK of all Assassins because she doesn't have that much damage early.

Like, for 90% of things, there's a reason for why they are there, even tho currently, they aren't needed anymore in some cases, like Zed's passive applying on creeps.

GFREEMEN2 votes

That can be said about a TON of champs.

Like just about everything now days Riot listened and went the OPPOSITE direction with it.

"this much healing" ?? her Q is the only thing that has healing and its not even that much.

item 3146 is where her healing comes from and any champion can build heal items

also idk why people cant grasp that if she Ws in lane just walk away and make her waste it, if your low hp and ur trying to back under tower or something and u know she can dive you, just walk to your tier 2 tower and back.

So if it ain´t that much what´s the point in having it? It´s either enough to make a difference or it isn´t but if it isn´t then what´s the point in having it besides free stats?

also idk why people cant grasp that if she Ws in lane just walk away and make her waste it

Yes, because there are "never" situations where Akali has like 20-30% hp while yourself has 75-80% hp. Retreating would mean she gets away for free, staying would mean she can incidentally kill you. How am I supposed to take advantage over her if I can´t punish her, because Akali´s kit offers her high defensive, high offensive potential combined with decent mobility?

GigglesO1 votes

I asked someone that about starting runes when I pointed out both the armor and MR are worth 100 less gold value than the damage runes.

"Its not that much"

Well then why can't I have 5 more armor and 6 more MR if its "not that much more"

Why even argue its 100% like you said.

Either free ass stats or enough to make a difference.

Are you implying that Yasuo's windwall is buggy or that it's an OP ability? Because it may be buggy, but it is able to be played around. Therefore it certainly is not bullshit as in OP.

Because saying the champ is shit and only banned for annoyance reasons is just biased as hell.

Akali's banrate is consistent in all elos because of how toxic she is. Her actual performance (and appearance rate) improves the higher mmr you look at, she's not bad because "lul look at the winrate number in plat", she's ridiculously good if you peak her skill ceiling, thats why she's banned. Toxic as fuck design, broken, and competitively strong in general, whether or not you do get those akalis or are one, fact of the matter is akali has way too much power to her play pattern, regardless of whether or not its annoying to play against or how consistent it is to properly pull off that play pattern.

What you've just implied to me is "majority should rule out minority peak experience".. as in 42% winrate lets buff akali so masters akali is literally more impossible to deal with. That's what your narrative is really suggesting to me.

What I don't like on these boards is that the goal post fucking moves all the time for the sake of down vote spamming people.

So when I say "Hey, low elos shouldn't have an issue with Akali. It's high elo that should. We should focus our discontent with the champ based on her high elo performance, not random people complaining about every element of the champ like a moron", I get down voted.

But when I say "So why are people acting like they give a fuck about high elo players NOW?"...I get down voted.

You guys are a joke.

Also, just because her win rate climbs as she reaches higher elos doesn't mean she's overpowered in high elo at this point, after all this nerfing.

Elaborate by safety?

Akali's W surpasses all of other assassin's safety.

Serika Zero1 votes

kind of late but, as you can see. All assassins have something that will make other players go: yeh I'm not ganking that lane. and the only reason the assassin player dies is if he or she went to deep in and forgot to go back as they can always have ways to go back.

That's all. Akali uses W for farming and trading. Leblank uses W for farming and trading, so does Zed, and so does Fizz. With Ekko and Talon using their escapes less during normal laning phase, so, actually, those two are more difficult to gank or kill if you can't just bait them.

My point is: riot always had this stupid design to make assassins: go in and out easily. But the problem with that stupid design is: when the assassins are good, they go in and out and the enemy can't do shit about them. And when the assassins are bad, they go in, don't do shit, and get out without having done anything, or they die because they tried to do more than their numbers allow to burst right now.

Its basically riot's design core: assassins have shitload of mobility and lane safety, so that they can get to their mid game faster and kill people. Which is why I prefer assassins like Rengar, Diana, Akali (before rework), as they have to go in, and going out, they have to make sure they get out via their own skills and predictions and decisions in which situations to jump or not. Instead of: yeh, i just pressed R, me super cool :3 cool guys don't look at explosions :3

Well as a normal cast player i find her pretty hard to use as i can't just smash my head on the keyboard. I have to coordinate my mouse buttons with the combos i'm doing and her range is ridiculously low. Almost every ranged champion wins early vs her.

I personally feel that akali's dmg is fine but the fact she can just cast a spell then wait in shroud is a bit unfair, the difference between old akali and new is that her q would require an auto to proc any dmg, but new akali gets MUCH more dmg just for landing the q instead of a small initial dmg then a proc, and one of the most unfun mechanics is true stealth, stealth within reason like twitches and evelyns make sense but ones like akali's are much harder to balance around and annoying to play around due to skill shots having to be shot in the dark and with extra movement speed she can dodge it anyways, as an example if you hit her all the way to the left and a silhouette appears then by the next spell she can be all the way to the right with just (example boots and lichbane), or in teamights she puts the adc at a disadvantage with the fact that HE CANT HIT HER so they get forced out of fights or risk there life to pump in some teamfight dmg leaving most the time only top and mid and less often junglers to take care of akali thanks to aoe abilities. There needs to be counterplay to true stealth for adcs specifically because they focus on auto attacks and single target dmg most of the cases. such as if an single target ability hits a true stealthed enemy akali, khazix, shaco there is sight granted to the specific champion that hit the enemy with a single target ability and they will be granted sight for a second or two I feel this would offer a chance to the adc and to the assassin since only they can see each other but feel something like that shouldn't apply to aoe dmg or auto attacks and maybe an effect would appear like a truesight eyeball would appear on them during this just to catch the person who hit the enemy assassins attention. This is just my opinion but i dont think nerfs/buffs will fix the current type of gameplay to be anti annoying for stealth champions and the more stealth that is introduced the more of a problem it will become.

The most stupid thing in all her kit is her sustain.

No, an asassin doesn't need to have infinite HP sustain. Where is the "high risk" in that?

IP Masquerena4 votes

That's not how it works.

Zed can stay far back and farm safely and engage from that range, being the only assassin able to do so without sacrificing anything, has last hit assistant and no longer even needs to hit his Q to kill most of the time.

Why do I say he's the only one?

Talon - Can stay back and farm with W, but then unless you walk up to him, he can't engage on you. LeBlanc - Can stay back and try to farm safely, but again, unless you walk up to her, she can't reach you. Ekko - See above Fizz - Either stays back and tries to farm under tower taking harass, or loses farm to stay safe Akali - Same as Fizz, just has a bit of an easier time due to safety to compensate for her having the lowest TTK of all assassins and her sever energy cost on Q, tho her healing only works if she has at least 180 energy and energy regenerates at a rate of 10/s with Q early costing 100 energy.

Then there's Zed. Can harass you from over 1000 range, is safe a f with his W and Q's range, can easily farm with Q that has basically no cost, and his WR engage allows him to engage on you from the other side of the map. Let's not even talk about the fact that he has a last hit assistant for no reason, and being an AD champ, has access to the most broken items in the game.

Where is the high risk in that?

Also, AD champs can buy Executioner's Calling for 800 gold, screwing her healing and all mages have good CC to keep her at bay if she tries to be funny and dive.

Zed's W has long cooldown. Longer than Akali's shroud. Once Zed uses his W, he's open since it's his only escape tool and damage amplifier. A good Zed never uses his W carelessly

IP Masquerena1 votes

No it's not. Zed has a 22 sec on W, reduced by 2 if he hits E, the cool down starts on cast.

Akali has 21 sec cool down, can't be reduced by hitting spells, and starts after her W ends, so 25 seconds after the cast.

And she's also open if her W is on cool down, as her E isn't the best escape in the world.

It's not just about her messing with the limits and identity of assassins, it's mostly about her design being complete anti fun and introducing new mechanics that nobody asked for. put the fact that it's a CertainlyTumor champion, her kit was clearly designed screaming MUH "UNIQUENESS" for the sake of adding another champion to the overloaded failed roster. she wasn't made to be balanced, she wasn't made to fill a niche, she wasn't made to be fair and fun to play against(certainlyT), she was made as an another random champion for the kids and weebs to enjoy.

Eleshakai3 votes

I mean, your w can be used while cced and acts as a cleanse. It SHOULD have a very high cd.

Regardless of whether Akali's shroud lets her attack under tower, it can't be used to break cc.

I'm not saying Akali's fine, but that's NOT a fair comparison. lol

Weiss Guertena2 votes

Literally the only thing she needs is true invisibility to be looked at - especially under opponent's turret. Other than that she is actually the best designed assassin: has to commit to extended trades instead of deleting someone in 0.5 seconds, actually has to manage her energy and her mobility is either conditional or locked behind a long CD ultimate.

sphinxthelion72 votes

I agree with you but not for the same reasons. I was an akali main. I hated the rework. I found it clunky and and difficult to use correctly. It just didnt flow well to me. I stopped playing her almost entirely. Plus she doesn't do anything for damage. Sure she can zip in and out, but her hits just arent anything compared to other assassins. Fizz ult can almost 1-shot you at level 6. Kayne can almost do the same. Akali has to hit like 4-6 times before killing a champ which is silly for a squish assassin. Her ult is good for finishing low health champs and escaping, but doesnt do anything near what other assassins can do right now for damage. Her win rate is crap because even though she is annoying to play against in lane, ultimately she is ineffective at winning games. I dont even know why people ban her, she isn't even a threat! When I see akali on the other team I know I'm going to win.

To be fair if she does attack you under tower she pretty much get's 1 auto from the tower every time she attacks unless she times tower shots perfect with the minions. After the Akali changes, you won't be able to even time the autos anymore lol. They're making casts and auto attacks not get cancled by the shroud, so if you started an annie q, then she stealths, it'll go thru.
