Why play an immobile caster when half the roster can just run you down without counterplay?

Serious question to Riot, while I enjoy a Skarner popping Predator and diving my Ziggs through two turrets with 500+ MS.

I'm an Azir main and get destroyed every time i go against any kind of assassin. I know people say Azir counters assassins but thats not really true, he' basically screwed against high mobility champs with even a bit of poke.

The counterplay there is the ziggs throwing all his spells out right before dies/gets ulted

Because the other half can't touch you if you play well.

The counterplay is to ward, pay attention, and don't let yourself be in melee range of a diver as an artillery mage.

???

You're aware these champions can quite literally run directly down mid lane from the fog and make contact with you, even after eating your entire kit?

Do you even play the game?

Yes, I do. And I've learned to ward, pay attention, and avoid things that are easy to avoid. From how you describe it, it sounds that you often stay around to fight the guy ganking you instead of even trying to run away instead.
