You want to know why Yasuo is so annoying to play against/with?

IsIsGankedParis··37 votes·7,123 views

Every game I have played as/with/against Yasuo, he either feasts and becomes a monster, or famines and becomes useless for his team unless he gets a ton of kills later.

I HATE that as Yasuo, I hate having to guess my Yasuo will either become an absolute monster, or will be the most worthless champion on my team.

Please do something about this, it's really annoying.

I think that's the biggest problem with him. When he was first introduced they said he would be a melee ADC with utility, which he is, however they've nerfed the utility aspect so he can keep his crit passive and insane damage, turning him into a feast or famine champ like other ADCs. He's not allowed to provide himself and his team with a lot of useful utility if he's also got insane damage capabilities

Jasiwel4 votes

I definitely think this is the underlying cause. We can argue back-and-forth that his resourcelessness w/high damage is the epicenter of his problems, but in reality it's that rather than being faithful to the original intentions of his design he's been made a melee hypercarry - which historically no one has ever liked for the reason that they win hard or die hard. It might be the most selfish, egotistical role in the game too because I know sure as hell I'd rather have anything with utility over that bloodthirsty Tryndamere Yasuo MasterYi who I can't account for and will either make or break our chances of winning at champ select.

Champion Skin4 votes

Though Yasuo actually has some utility and can be useful even when he is behind in that he has his Windwall which can be very useful and strong And he has some CC potential in his Q/R which is still kind of useful even if he is behind

Which is more then Master Yi has to offer

Jasiwel3 votes

That's not what Yasuo was supposed to be though. He was supposed to be a champion that could deal high amounts of damage if fed, but if not then he could provide utility and damage support. Now he just offers "meh" utility and feeds if he's too far behind.

Only Play Darius2 votes

lol you haven't seen a good MasterYi apparantly. Will rip the enemy team apart and make it look easy. He is also the only hypercarry jungler so he's unique in that regard.

Jasiwel5 votes

No, I have seen Yi's do well and destroy the enemy team alone. I've also seen Yi's feed harder than Eve right after a patch nerf. I don't like the idea of a champion that gets fed or feeds if he doesn't. It can work for Ranged Hypercarries, but it's either frustrating to play with or infuriating to play against.

Partholonian1 votes

Also Fiora and usually Riven.

Most of them, most of the time, are tuned so that they can't be pro viable, in order to keep them from being insane pubstompers. Unless they get lucky or are smurfing, and then they're insane pubstompers anyway.

Jasiwel1 votes

Yeah, those are great examples too. Usually if I'm playing with Plats or higher, both have their moments of glory and then get shut down hard once the team fights arrive. They can wreck hard, but can feed hard trying to force a fight.

nope no inbetweens remember release darius? They had to nerf his broken ass just to 'balance" him. And he still wins like 90% of his match ups or at the veyr least breaks even because his lane phase is so hard to balance its digusting.

I remember the nightmares of trying to gank a post six darius who only had a sunfire and a tiamat. my god.

It's that stupid double crit passive. Once he gets ahead, he gets very far ahead. If he gets behind, you have players trying to build attack speed/crit in a losing lane which (surprise!) doesn't work well.

Honestly, given all the utility in his carry kit, I'm surprised he feels weak if he's behind.

YOU BEEN WARNED3 votes

Most of you glorify the crit passive so much while in fact, it is worse than Tryndamere 's passive.

item 3031 + item 3087 = 40% bonus crit chance, this costs gold to achieve; has 10% overall penalty and 25% penalty on Steel Tempest.

Meanwhile Tryndamere gets 35% crit chance from level 1, no penalties whatsoever. Has an actual AD steroid and unconditional mobility.

Mandang03 votes

Tryn's passive doesn't snowball as hard because it remains fixed. Yasuo's passive gets better the more crit chance he has, which is why I brought it up. It's not a question of which is better, it's a question of which contributes more to the feast/famine playstyle the OP was talking about.

YOU BEEN WARNED3 votes

Don't dodge the point, Yasuo won't build more than item 3031 & item 3087 for crit therefore 40% bonus crit from passive. The difference is, Tryndamere will go ahead and build item 3086 + item 3074 /item 3153 being as effective since he won't actually die unlike Yasuo who will become a burst bomb dying to the next hard CC.

I'm aware of the question, I'm saying the passive is glorified when every melee carry has crazy steroids to keep damage up. Of course these damage steroids Tryndamere Q/passive Fiora W,E MasterYi E,R are the reason they fall off when behind; it is not exclusive to Yasuo so that people would be like "that stupid double crit passive wtf"

Mandang01 votes

I'm not dodging the point, you're completely off of it:

^This is what I was replying to. It's his thread, not yours. He's talking about how feast/famine makes Yasuo annoying to play with, you're trying to drag some comparison to Tryndamere into this...

Tryndamere's passive will always be 35% crit chance, whether he's ahead or behind. Yasuo's passive scales, so it makes him more snowbally (in either direction).

YOU BEEN WARNED2 votes

I'm responding to your comment regarding "that stupid double crit passive".

It's his thread, not yours.

Don't pretend to be intelligently "blind" to what you said, or to what people say about the passive on boards all the time. You were implying the passive is stupid for reasons beyond what was mentioned in the thread, once you saw your point being defeated; begin to turn tail and passive-aggressively attack.

Mandang01 votes

I can't tell if you're trolling at this point or just dense.

I said the crit passive is stupid & I'm sticking by it. What the passive does is make Yasuo exceptionally snowbally, which is relevant to the OP (what I quoted in the last post), which was my entire point in the first place.

If you want to go make a thread comparing Yasuo to other carries, go ahead. This post wasn't doing that, nor was I comparing them. It's not turning tail, it's staying on subject. If you have a problem with what other people say in other places, go take it up with those people in those places.

Seriously man, don't take Yasuo's well-being so personally.

I hate how Yasuo outdamages everyone when he gets 2 items

I Am Florg2 votes

Idk about that one. Pretty sure a Jinx with IE and Shiv will do more damage than a yasuo. She just also happens to be less mobile.

Keevalroy7 votes

I hate the fact that Yasuo exists, and I thought I understood why I hated every pixel that makes him up. Your reasoning is now added onto my list, thank you.

LouisPee4 votes

One major problem I find with Yas and this also applies to Zed is his ability to CS easily under tower.

Game Theory: When a player (Player X) forces an existing opponent (Player Y) under tower to cs. The idea is that X is winning the lane because it is more likely that player Y will be missing cs. Without taking into account professional players. As a Zed or Yasuo (Y), you can be substantially less skilled than X player yet still be on the same gold and hence power level throughout the game whilst csing under tower.

This is what gives these champions so much "odd" power. Their CSing ability is substantially easier even when "Behind in lane". This is a random guess, I believe riot's balance team took into account the fact that these champions are melee and therefore need some more assistance with base AD/Cooldown so pushing champions don't hurt as much. A consequence of this is that is the only scenario in which Zed/Yas need this.

TLDR: Power come from their ability to CS and have the same gold/power level when other champions miss.

Vistha Kai3 votes

Isn't that true for every AD champion in the game, though?

Champion Skin2 votes

Though Zed also has his passive which makes it even easier for him... Though they could actually make damage to minions/monsters work the same way tower damage currently work (this would help out AP junglers as it would help them clear better with their auto attacks like AD junglers if applied to monsters and laners would have an easier time last hitting)

Towers either take base AD + Bonus AD OR base AD + 40% AP (which ever is higher)

jDVL20eCYs1 votes

please tell me more how skilled the lux is when he push my fizz under tower at level 1-3 and harsh the shit out of me while my j4 junlger don't get that its his job to come mid kill the overextending lux... that hair push my kassadin under tower and i manage to last it most of them while try dodge her q and e. its her being skilled for press q on the minions and me unskilled cause i farm at the tower? you have any idea about champ being strong at different stages of the game

Champion Skin2 votes

Lux... really? The one champion with one of the most expensive AoE clear ability which also often forces her to use her auto attacks to fully clear the wave....

jDVL20eCYs1 votes

as expensive as fizz and lower cd early. so...

Champion Skin4 votes

Fizz... E is a bit more versatile and is more then a wave clear tool though... it is mobility + untargetability + AoE damage

jDVL20eCYs1 votes

lux E is long range, bigger aoe, slow, apply passive and grant vision for 5 sec, can be used for zoning. so i don't agree with you

Champion Skin1 votes

The slow is hard to use if it is used for damage and the range isn't all that important when used on minions especially since Lux usually has to go up to the minions to proc her passive to be able to clear them AoE is better yes but at longer ranges it also has some travel time and the Vision is kind of useful because you really don't want to face check things as lux... but it hardly matters in laning phase as you then want to use your E at the wave or your opponent not on the side bushes most of the time

The passive... is well her passive and not her E It is like damn Brand E is OP it deals % damage

Silents4294 votes

Apart from that I also found his poke to be a pain in the ass too.

Solidair34 votes

he's literally going to be like that as long as he has his double crit. It takes up so much power in his kit, he can't have anything else as long as he has that.

He's a mess.

Jefftiffy3 votes

The problem is a lot of people pick Yasuo first pick like I do hoping to get their team to think synergy. Then they pick Mundo, Caitlyn, Leona, and Tryndamere so your team has almost 0 synergy and you go wtf. Now if I even fall a little behind I can't help you guys. (It's why I have stopped playing Yasuo combined with how many people pick to counter pick mid lane now adays instead of sticking to champs they are good at meaning even a bad player can make your life hell if you had a bad game).

I understand you pick in your comfort zone but even picking Draven or Thresh with a Yasuo can help your team dramatically. Just one knock up is all you need to give him the ability to come back or stay ahead.

Champion Skin2 votes

Well... then again why would people pick champions to work with Yasuo if they don't trust Yasuo to do well in the first place? Won't it be more logical for them to pick a champion they think they can do better on but has no synergy with Yasuo

Though in a normal game and especially if I am a support I don't mind picking Alistar because Yasuo synergy as it gives me a reason to practice Alistar... I know he is pretty good... I am just not all that good at him

CreationFlaw2 votes

If I start to do bad I just farm :/ No point fighting when I won't win. I'll protect towers and push lanes and help my team, but yeah, I just had a game where I went mid and a Draven wanted to duo mid so I said sure. About two minutes in he tried to engage against Talon and Draven, they just get a little too cocky or try and be flashy and it never works.

I Am Florg2 votes

The reason for that is simple. Yasuo is a high skill floor champion. Meaning that if the player is experienced and talented with him he can use his abilities to their potential, increasing yasuo's damage and survivability. This makes him very strong in skilled hands. In unskilled hands he is essentially a worse master yi.

Renegade Angel952 votes

Because everyone non stop complained that he was strong, because he was in every game because he is so fun to play. One of the most fun champs in the game, but God forbid anyone have fun.

He was already difficult, now he's one of the more difficult champs. He's got no health and if you make 1 mistake it's over. Even if fed. You can be sorta in between. I very rarely see a Yasuo just go off and go insane.

So what is the difference between feast or famine and high risk high reward? Just want to know so I can have a better vision on why Yasuo has problems.

Feast or famine? Since when has that become a term? Really the word your looking for is snowball. You need to know how to play safe and CS fast enough to snowball the game. And I guess the problem with Yasuo is similar to the problem with Vayne, except Vayne can get hit even harder.

Decrit1 votes

I think the fuclum of his problems is... guess what? the crit passive.

I liked that it doubled the crit chance but, weirdly enough, that it kept the same damage. Making items more stat-valuable is not a good sign of champion design to me ( i think the same about vlad and ryze ) because it forces the player to pick the same items because in the champion' s hands get broken.

Like broken-inducing design. wat.

They should have kept the double passive crit but halved the crit bonus - the reason behind this is that it made the long-term dps still at the same number as other champions ( or more due to other effects ) but made it more reliable with less items, so Yasuo could focus on other items... or totally skew it and adopt other choices not crit-reliant; in few words, the crit-portion of the passive would be more about "having the possibility of adopt side strategies more effectively" or "having a more pronounced but not skyrocketing damage spike" rather than "get crit and get broken", allowing more power budget on the other utility or offensive side of his kit. Hell, he could even become the adcarry/support everyone always asked.

So instead he got heavy sparse nerfs. Now i don' t know if he got better or the people actually picked him up again and realized how he is still powerful, but this core design problem remains. A problem that is not terminal of his own, for sure there is a way to have passives that increase stat values and still being healty, but that is to be seen already.

YOU BEEN WARNED1 votes

Tryndamere has 35% free crit, he gets a 60% AoE 4s slow.

I don't see the problem.

Decrit1 votes

that is another matter of things - he gets free stats by his own, yasuo gets increased value from a stat on an item.

"skill"

YOU BEEN WARNED1 votes

They supposedly gave him windwall to prevent him from being useless. But windwall doesn't have meaningful scaling whatsoever so Yasuo would have a safety net aside from his damage.

I'm in for reduction on his shield values if they're giving his windwall some scaling on it's CD/width/duration based on a stat, I prefer** lower CD** though. [ armor/magic resist? ]
