The new take on Runes and Honor has got me thinking back to Dawngate.

For those of you who don't know the wonder of Dawngate, it was a Moba by EA surprisingly that got scrapped due to not being popular enough. They had cool items, interesting "Shapers" as they were known, and a fairly consistent Lore being updated via comic.

But most importantly, they had an interesting system for Runes, one that's tied in tightly with their version of the Honor system. Simply put, you had a square that you could fill with various shaped Slots that held Jewels. Filling in these Slots completely would give a bonus, along with the stats the jewels gave. The bigger Slots held more stones, and had extensively more special effects. You could have any number of these as long as they fit the Square given.

To get these Slots and Jewels, you got them from playing the game. At the end of every game, you were put into a short screen where you could Honor people for whatever reason, and then, get rated for your play. A bar would show up that would factor whether you lost or won, how well you did that game, and how many people voted for you in the end of the game.

It would fill up a Bar that'd would net you various chests you'd open, and these could vary from Jewels, currency, entire Shapers, and those Slots. And now League has got me thinking back to those good old days, with those concept art on Runes and the Honor system.
