Time to nerf AP Kogs poke?

Lugg··2 votes·621 views

With his insane range on hitting 16 and his synergy with item 3285 , is it time Riot starts looking at nerfing him?

He can easily force people out of lane or off objectives in just 1 or 2 hits now with little to no retaliation. I think the biggest problem is that you can stomp him in lane, but he carries late game regardless.

What do you guys think?

Kog in general is a late game type of champion. AP kog is a late game, long range, AP poke sieger. How do you defeat late game champions? You don't let them get to late game. Traditionally, you look at how easy it was for them to get to late game. Well, Kog has 0 protections against ganks other than his line slow. If he is freezing lane pre-six, he is exposed to trades, and to a good ganking champion as well due to his immobility.

If he is insta-clearing, then what is going to do? Roam? While Kog has good poke, he isn't the best for roaming because of his own fragility. Also, he really doesn't start to come into his own until level 11. Get your other lanes ahead and try to take baron. The buff makes it very hard for Kog to clear the waves, so you should be able to push the turrets. Banner of Command is an excellent item; immunity to magic damage is important for any team against powerful wave-clear, stall type champions.

I agree with everything you are saying, but what do you do if he has a Tahm Kench support? TK completely removes Kog's weakness to ganks by swallowing him and running for tower. It seems that TK can completely remove the early game handicaps of the hyper carries.

Then is that so much of a problem for the hyper carries, or a problem with Tahm Kench? I understand that the relative choices of champion selection/item selection might make a particular champion more powerful for a while, but the problem doesn't lie with Kog himself.

I know where you are coming from, believe me. I played a game earlier with Kog ADC and we couldn't catch him cause of Tahm.

like you said it take until level 16 until he gets very strong and he needs level 11 to have any sort of power. He is still completely immobile and his ult can be dodged.

If he or a teammate gets a slow on you, you can't dodge his ult without burning a flash. As for mobility, he is super dangerous on a team that has item 3800 or item 3069 .

he also gets crushed by teams that build the same items haha.

Not really. A well placed Void Ooze will negate that. Besides, he should be behind his front line and far enough back to be safe.

I think the only problem AP Kog'Maw has right now is if he lands one R with Rylai's you have to burn a mobility spell or get hit by every other R he wants to hit you with.
