Frost Queen's pickup on AP mids

More and more I am seeing mid laners pick up because it offers 150% base mana regen (higher than every AP item available except for ) and it provides a heavy slow that benefits most champions. Given that this item was intended to be a support item and not a primary mid item, I am wondering if there is a change or nerf in the works to dis-incentivize AP mid laners from grabbing this item. While I think the utility may be a bit too strong for some mids, I am certain that any nerfs to the support aspects of this item will keep it from being utilized in the bottom lane, similar to last season. Is there a patch in the works to address this issue?

I usually pick it up alongside either Grail or Morello just to hit the CDR cap. It's cheap enough that I can sneak it into a build.

I think that is part of the problem, for how gold-efficient it is, it is an appetizing buy for most mid laners.

Given that this item was intended to be a support item

Why is that a problem? How is that even a problem? Taking advantage of effective strategies and using them to your advantage is what you are supposed to be doing here.

Except that this item was crafting BY DESIGN to help supports generate gold and give some additional beneficial stats. The gold generation passive on a mid laner will supplement their income and since the passive does not disable on the competed item, it gives them a HUGE advantage over the other laner. This item is not supposed to be good in a mid lane position that already gets good income.

Disable the gold gain procs on item 3092 when killing a creep the same way it gets disabled for item 3303 and item 3098 .

Yea, that is probably the fix they will implement to make it undesirable for mid laners. It shouldnt be that much of a nerf for supports because they arent usually last hitting minions anyway.

Typically when an item designed for support or jungle gets picked up by solo laners, it gets gutted.
