Tahm Kench needs to get a rework or some serious adjustment

Tahm Kench has been on the receiving end of some very heavy-handed nerfs after his role-adjustment made him a frustrating pick in the top lane and his support utility was all but obliterated to avoid his disengage from coming into the spotlight at Worlds. I have seen a few high-ELO players attempt to pick him up as a counter to the high burst damage that has been plaguing League for the last few seasons but his kit is in such disarray, with things like his Tongue Lash not applying his passive stacks and his Devour grounding him and applying a large movement speed debuff when grabbing allies, that more often than not he becomes a liability even to those who main the champion.

I know that the intention was to make him a liability for Worlds, but now that it is over can you please do something to at least stop him from being a straight troll pick? He has the lowest win rate in the game right now out of any traditional support picks and isn't even tanky enough with his Thick Skin shield to survive a trade in lane with any of the modern marksman. If you insist on making his utility just barely passable, at least make him so tanky that his peel means something, instead of just giving the enemy team a free kill after he saves an ally.

Sincerely,

            A former Kench main

I think ol' Kench probably deserves the Dianna treatment. Swap his Devour with his ult, make it like a global reverse Shen ult or something where he can pluck an ally from the map to him after a few seconds. Make his old ult a basic ability but dramatically lower it's range. I dunno, just think that might be neat. TahmKench

Tahm Kench's abilities need to stack his passive. It's the only semblance of some sort of synergy between his abilities and I can't believe they removed it.

I seriously want to start playing Tahm Kench Support again. Honestly, it just isn't fun playing him in his current state. It just hurts.

And we need some explanations about why they did such a bad job (well, several) with him, and just forgetting about for so long.

I remember getting the champ to lvl 7 mastery in a few days after his release thinking how fun he was.

I don't even consider picking him nowadays. :(

Revert everything about him and just remove the eating allies thing .... thats the main reason hes been gutted ... id rather have a less mechanic than a useless champ ... hate to see champs gutted to not being seen much

The last time they nerfed Tahm:

"We think his sustain in lane and mobility are too much for how much safety he provides to his carries, he should be more vulnerable"

So let's take 10 MS and make his regen scale with level.

So they have reworked his E to be based around the regen instead of giving a huge shield, then they gutted the regen, leaving him with nothing.

And this after huge nerfs to his Q and passive and the stupid addition of grounded effect on W.

Some champions are kept broken, some can't stop receiving nerfs even when at 42% winrate.

What I think they should do is revert him back to how he was when he was strong in top lane. Yes I know he was op but was because of 2 traits that made him a monster in the early game. His massive slow and his passive giving him his ultimate’s passive at lvl 2 at the start of the game. Combine those two, it was super hard to escape him, and when he got to you, he did way more damage than any top laner early game. Again all they had to do back then was to nerf those two parts instead of gutting everything about him.

The thing with Tahm is that his ult is a bit poop. A true support ultimate would help him a lot.

Imagine that as a support he has HALF MINUTE CD on his only spell what can defend anyone. Whatever you max for him, its sucks.

They need to add the passive stack on his q back and I think he would be viable. I played him support recently just to give him a swing and while he's no longer the super strong early game pick he used to be he's still really good defensively. The w change for allies really hurt him tho

I think he's just a low elo pick now. The kind of champ you take top lane to tilt your bronze 2 opponent until they afk and the enemy team opens.

Just like...take away some power from his Q and put it into a passive where he ribbits/burps occasionally and deals AoE damage around him and mini-stuns creeps.

He's missing a little AoE - his kit is super binary and he spends the entire thing just to clear a single wave. Smooth the rest of his kit out damage-wise and then give him that. That's all.

How to fix Tahm Kench:

  1. Put a 15s per champion CD on his W, similar to how Yasuo cannot E the same champion over and over or that Braum cannot infinitely stun someone using his passive.

  2. Why are you reading this one. Now he can be balanced around his numbers alone.

Former Tahm Kench main here. I used to play him at toplane and while I will admit that he was really strong, they shouldn't have removed his ability to add stacks using his q or w. I'm fine with the stun removing the stacks but q and w not adding stacks? That's just really terrible.
