Jinx VS Vel'Koz

Be more:

Late game Vel'Koz with a build that's a little something like this: item 3165 item 3003 item 1058 item 3027 item 3020 item 3157

Use your entire combo to try and kill the Jinx that's got full attack speed Lifesteal, watch as she drain tanks through the entire fucking combo (including the E) and might I add - WITH GRIEVOUS WOUNDS.

Seriously, I caught her out with fog of war - she had absolutely no defensive items on her plate, NONE. The bitch just cut my head off and walked away without a scratch - full HP after she drain tanked herself back up. It wouldn't even matter if it's because she's fed - we're both equal levels and we both are at end game gold! I have like 70 more AP than the average Vel'Koz end game because of the tear staff that nobody fucking builds! (She blew through it in 1 AA)

So what the fuck? Is Vel'koz just stupidly UP? Because his ult has like a 1.2 AP ratio . . . which she stood in for like . . . the entire duration.

. . .

I'm gonna call bs on that. I regularly play with a velkoz main who's done pulled off far more bs with that champion, who would have wiped the floor with a jinx he found in the middle of the jg.

Your build also seems awfully defensive. You've got 2 extra mana items when literally all you need is morellos then you can go straight ap and mpen. It's also not end game. You don't have void staff. You don't have rabadons. You don't even have ludens or liandries. That build is very much lacking in the damage department. Mpen is far more important when it comes to killing squishies. And ludens can add a lot of damage to your burst.

I concur. As a Vel'koz main myself, it's very rare that i can't 100-0 someone when i have the drop on them from fog, especially someone like jinx. And that's with my build being something like item 3040 item 3165 item 3020 item 3089 item 3285 item 3157 .

And A Real Hiero1 votes

As a avid bamboozle player I almost never build roa archangels or zhonyas (situational).

item 3165 item 3020 item 3285 item 3102 item 3135 item 3089

Is my usual go to build, banshees helps a lot more with the occasional long range CC or engage and doesn't lock you in place. Cause a caught bel boz is a dead bel boz. Adc's usually die without the help of my ult.

I hate liars, you had no item 3165 and she had both item 3072 shield + was lifestealing, red smite DR, and item 3156.

Vanic9981 votes

He was dealing full true damage with ultimate. Maw doesn't matter here.

nm10102 votes

Maybe if you watched his video you would see it eat the q after his zhonya's that saved her life. Not to mention he still lied about item 3165 and the mr massively reduced his 0 pen build damage.

she had absolutely no defensive items on her plate, NONE.

The guy is an attention seeker and you just want to cry about your main.

Vanic9981 votes

I did watch video. Why is the q important? He should have been able to kill her without. How is this guy an attention seeker? If he wanted to seek attention he'd be talking about a champion with a higher play rate Not a champion that some people forgot existed.

nm10101 votes

"I should be able to kill the 16-3 Jinx with double defensive shields and red smite with mr even though I am 6-9" So you are basically saying Vel'Koz should insta kill anyone who doesn't invest in double mr item even with no pen? (the depressing part is he almost did while down an item and a half)

How is this guy an attention seeker?

He completely lied about the scenario? That seems like he really wanted attention...

When Jinx has almost 5k gold in items over Vel'Koz it is a pretty big deal. On top of everything else it looks like she had scaling hp runes for better survival AND got super lucky with 50% crit chance for lifesteal purposes. If ANY of these things hadn't gone her way she would've died.

Mig891 votes

The shield from Maw is not only a shiel but it gives more lifesteal as well. OP either didnt know this or didnt care when he posted and wants to vent. Sometimes people just need to vent a bit.

Because you didn't buy voidstaff on 3rd item, went archangel roa against a lategame carry and didnt bother to close it early.

And midlaner with same levels as adc? Ya gotta be kidding. The norm is to be 2 levels ahead the enemy adc.

The situation was that we were both equal levels - the Jinx went jungle (good job looking that up bucker-roo) with the Jinx being fed, however, evened out as the game came to late-game. I think that if she had no defensive items and all offensive items that it shouldn't matter if I had void staff because the void staff would legit remove only like 15-20 MR on the jinx which is only a 10% damage increase - I would be better off building mask and boots because again - it isn't percentile . . . it's stock stats. So, yeah. That's the situation - cut and dry - not what you're on about. Which has nothing to do with the situation.

Wait why did you even post???

WHAT. Did you just actually say 10 percent increase in damage is not high.

Also did you just built roa arch and say you wont buy mask because it is stock stats.

And you dont expect critics on the internet lmao

This is so much BS, i play vel koz and jinx.

Even with a bad build like that (barely any damage) you´d still delete her hard if you actually landed your spells.

I´ll bet you missed 1-2 spells then hits one and ulted when she was right next to you and then died before your ulti even ticked a second time.

Vel´koz deals a set number of true damage, marksmen are shit at handling that, and doubled up with CC and massive range she should never even have been close enough to auto attack.

A good vel koz can chunk even a stoneplate tank for like 1/3 or 1/2 of their health(Except cho), that´s enough damage to kill the average marksman twice or thrice.

You are a mage, can't complain when losing auto attack trades to a marksman, or when you miss everything.

I can't help but breath in the fumes that you think true damage is more effective at killing squishy targets. (LOL.)

So no - true damage is effective because it's a stat stick that isn't effected by resistances that are otherwise plentiful by tanks - he's good at killing tanks because . . . he does a super ton amount of true damage. Now that the ignorance is tackled - I'm really not gonna bother arguing with somebody that thinks I tried to apparently auto attack trade a marksman with a mage. (Seriously wtf?)

Thefrostyviking2 votes

You clearly need to read what i wrote again, i wrote that he deals a solid/set number of true damage meaning, it´s not % based which is what tanks are bad against.

A set number is what squishes have problems with dealing with since their smaller healthbars can't handle it.

And then we also have the fact that Vel koz ultimate deals true damage if you land your other spells first-.------

And you claim that she survived your entire combo and took no damage?

For real? Who are you trying to fool? With a build like that you´d have around 500 AP.

So lategame, lvl 16 i´ll call it.

Your passive, 153+250 = 403 true damage.

Q = 240 + 0,6 x 500 = 540 AP dmg

W = 200+275 = 475 AP dmg

E = 190 + 150 = 340 AP dmg.

R = 800+ 625 =1425 true damage.

So 1828 true damage and 1355 AP damage.

Lvl 16 jinx = 1705 health and 37,2 magic resist.

But well, assuming that jinx had 1 MR item and some runes we can assume that she had like 110 magic resist.

At 100 MR you take 50% reduced magic damage.

So, 1355 x 0,5 = 667,5.

667,5 + 1828 =2495,5 damage in total.

1705 - 2495,5 = - 790 health.

Can you begin to comprehend why no reasonable person here can believe a word of what you have been saying?

Vel koz deals more fricking true damage than jinx has health, and that´s before adding his normal magic damage ontop.

And yet you claim she stood through it taking no damage? Not even close to dying?

I. Call. BS.

Look. At. The. Video.

Kay? Apparently his true damage has more damage than her health when the true damage procked twice and still didn't kill her.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Bruh.

That video was basically proof that you lied.

Use your entire combo to try and kill the Jinx that's got full attack speed Lifesteal, watch as she drain tanks through the entire fucking combo (including the E) and might I add - WITH GRIEVOUS WOUNDS.

This is a direct copypaste of what you wrote about what happened.

But what happened in the video? I shall write it down as well as i can.

You both walked into near melee range of each other, you reacted first and E´d her and then immediately ulted, shredding right through her bloodthirster barrier down to 200 health but she survived by using red smite to reduce your damage by 20%.

Here we got your first outright lie actually too, she had 2 defensive items, maw and bloodthirster, bloodthirster was stacked and she had it's barrier up fully.

And maw grants magic resist, which due to you not having void staff reduced your damage a lot.

Then red smite which acts as a mini exhaust, all those are defensive.

Then you used zhonya and she tried to E you but embarrassingly missed, then immediately after Zhonya ended you used the staff barrier and Q'ed the jinx but thanks to maw barrier she survived thanks to maw's barrier and her magic resist.

Then you tried to run away but she killed you with 4 auto attacks.

And there we have your second lie, she only barely survived twice and yet you clam that she walked away with full health after draintanking your entire combo?

You didn't even have a morello! You had no fricking grevious wounds effect on her!.

Dude, if i were you i´d be hella embarrassed, if you had lied like this in court you´d gotten years in prison.

I saw your video. You did land most of your combo. You only didn't use your q before your ultimate but it's ridiculous that you still researched her with your w e combo and used your ultimate dealing full true damage and she still tanked it. I saw that you used q after ultimate but it didn't matter since her lifesteal was too much.

Too answer your question, Vel'Koz is only slightly underpowered right now. I've been following his statistics and his winrate has been the same at about 52% but his playrate has been cut in half over the past year. After his rework and before the assassin rework, his play rate used to be 4.3%. Now it's down to just 2%. That is even lower than his play rate before his rework which was 2.25%.

I suggested riot should increase his suspension duration on his e by .25 secs from .75 secs to 1 sec because it's ridiculous that his ultimate channels over 2.5 secs and landing his e suspends enemies a little less than A THIRD of that duration. In your video, the reason jinx survived was because after you landed your e and w, the e duration only gave you a free .75 secs to ultimate her but after that, she had 1.75 secs to auto attack/lifesteal or use a summoner spell if she wanted to.

Syndra Could have just Hit Q once and the ulted to get the kill, far too outclassed by mindless champions like her.

Even Vayne could have bursted the enemy Jinx down quicker with R/Q

Vanic9981 votes

I'm actually glad you mentioned syndra. What gets me furious as a Vel'Koz main is how brand and syndra have instant ultimates yet they both have 1.5 second stuns while Vel'Koz who has a channeled ultimate has HALF the duration on his e. Vel'Koz needs a higher suspension duration more than those two which is why I suggested what I suggested above.

Limmie1 votes

There's no way a Syndra would have bursted her through maw with just a Q + R combo, specially not with a build like that that seems focused on mana more than anything else. Just a Q + R wouldn't have stunned her either which means she'd be lifestealing it all up even faster. Vayne could stand a better chance justs because she wouldn't have procced Maw's lifegrip passive, which was what ultimately saved her. Even then I doubt, she would after all still be a hypercarry with fullbuild against someone 2-items shy.

Limmie2 votes

Why are you surprised you couldn't burst down someone that has a item 3156? The item specifically intended to counter magical burst? It also gives a huge lifestal on top of the BT she had, no wonder she healed it all up. She also crited on top of the %maxhp damage of item 1419, AND red-smote you (which reduced your damage against her by 20%). Oh and she had red-buff too.

Jinx is a late game hypercarry and she was fullbuild, Velkoz is a mid-game burst mage and you were two items shy of full build. You outplayed yourself when you tried to burst her down tbh, there was no way you'd be out walking alive and her dead given those circumstances, everything was stacked in her favor. It's not really embarrassing because you'd normally never see a Jinx building like that in the first place so it's hard to expect it. But yeah, nothing improper happened either when you look at it analitically.

EDIT: BTW, you applied no grievious wounds to her since you didn't actually build item 3165. If you had built that like a Velkoz should instead of item 3040, Things would have turned out quite differently.

You don't need to. It's an option to download your replay in the new client. You just need to go into your Match History, find the match and it'll give you the option to download the replay. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/318134046276321280/354593256287240192/download.PNG To link it you gotta do some more stuff, like upload it, and potentially make a video file out of it, I've never done that, but at least you can look at the scene again to see if you just missed stuff or maybe she bought a Hexdrinker or some bs like that.

Watch as the velkoz desperately attempts to micro all his abilities in harmony to even try to come close to matching the braindead afk clicking jinx, who at this point could probably be played by an AI, doing 3 times the damage output.
