People who say they're leaving League for Overwatch confuse me.

Doesn't Overwatch have the very same problems League has (OTHER THAN BALANCE OR PREFERABLE GAMEPLAY)?

  • A team of solo players vs a Premade is going to be put at a Disadvantage, because they have communication and the other doesn't.

  • Overwatch also rewards players who group together with more EXP, which means faster Loot Crates, than Solo Players.

  • Overwatch, as much as it doesn't announce it as so, does try to put Premades vs Premades against each other, but Solo players are always going to be in the mix. Premades vs Solo's are going to be just as common.

  • Unlike League, it's not as easy to Solo Carry, since Hero's power levels are usually static, until you get your Ult. That means Coordinated Team playing and ability to adapt to enemy team comps or further locations on the map will be essential, skills better found in Premades of Friends

Even playing as a Solo Player with other solos wasn't as fun as playing with friends because you end up with players who don't care for Team comps, locking in Two Offense Hanzos, Offense Widowmaker and Offense Mei. Other than preferable gameplay and balance fuck you bastion, what does Overwatch really have against League and Dynamic Que?

Is the main difference that Overwatch may have better matchmaking when it comes to sorting out Premades and Solo players, meaning that if League were to improve matchmaking to better sort Premades and Solos, the problem would be solved?

Frankly, League's balance problems aren't as bad as people make it out to be. Except Malzahar's passive - that's the only thing I've ever agreed with the Gameplay and Balance boards about.

Yeah, i just wanted to emphasize that i was comparing the Dynamic Que aspects and not how fun/balanced Overwatch is.

TBF, we haven't seen Overwatch's ranked mode yet, so one can only wait till 4:00 tomorrow.

Honestly, only reason I'm addicted to League is thanks to hextech, the level 6 & 7 masteries and the RGM.

not to forget overwatch will let you pay 60 dollars for a DLC every 3 months required to keep the pvp game up to date

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

What? They've litterally said that there will never be forced microtransactions for new heroes or maps

venomous frost1 votes

micro transactions are in game purchases, not new games

look at starcraft and WoW, you have to keep buying the DLC to stay on top of the pvp updates

Yes, I know how their other games work. But they have explicitly said that new heroes and maps will never be locked behind a pay wall

Overwatch has built in voice so it's easier to have full communication

Therre doesn't seem to be anything like LoL's laning phase so it's less likely for the solo to be isolated and abandonned by the pemade.

I can only speak from experience, but i heard one or two people use that voice chat. It wasnt that widely used, but that may change with the full release.

Overwatch is actually impossible for the Premade to abandon the Solo, to a degree. Since power levels are static, each person is as relevant to the game as the next one. On the other hand, a single solo can weigh down a premade hard if he isn't picking good Hero's for the current Situation. Can't tell you how many times I've had an Offense Widowmaker, when we need a more offense hero like Soldier 76 or Pharah.

Tbh, people that flock to Overwatch don't know Blizzard's history. You should've seen what they did to WoW PvP - how they butchered it with no regards for the players. To this day, they have yet to apologize for theit massive failure and lack of decency.

Blizzard is a cash-grab company. Overwatch is still pure, but once Activision sees a way to earn more money - they will grab it.

Never play Blizzard games.

So I'll address some of the differences.

-Communication: It wasn't widely used during open beta, but there is in-game voice chat that works well. I don't think too many people were using it because players didn't have much of a feel for macro strategy. It's still much easier to communicate with voice chat than it is with pings and typing. (Overwatch does have some in-game commands such as requesting healing).

-Team work: It's intrinsically different in Overwatch. In LoL, players and objectives are spread out by design, in Overwatch all players share the same objective. Unless players 100% disregard the objective, everyone seemed to be on the same page because there is only one objective.

-Solo Carrying: Potential to solo carry is higher in Overwatch. In LoL, a lot of your character's strength is based on gold income, items, levels, masteries, buffs, etc. relative to the other team's. Your character's strength can vary through actions other than your own. In Overwatch, your character is the same character in the last minute of the match as they were in the first. I could practically write an essay about the flaws of "win harder" mechanics.

-Time Invested: Overwatch matches are shorter. A long "bad" game in Overwatch is still over 15min before you can even surrender in LoL.
