Why does an assassin have 2 hard ccs and huge sustain?

I am talking about pyke. Riot decided to create an assassin while calling him a "support". So they gave him an assassin kit and then put hard cc on him so he can go bot as support. Now he is getting abused in solo lanes.

Because pykes damage is abysmal for an assassin.

His damage is abysmal, and his reliability of getting onto a target isn't quite as good as a lot of other assassins either. Good assassins also have an easier way to dodge you than 'Go camo even though they can probably still see me'. I think people just over hype Pyke.

But it's a trade off because he can enable other players to kill a target. His damage is low because he has a hook and can also share gold with another player. He isn't conventional because riot made him be more favorable when picked with an adc.

Which is entirely irrelevant to the topic. Why is pyke, an assassin, allowed to have some sustain (his sustain is conditional, so its not that powerful) and 2 forms of hard CC? Because his damage is trash. It makes no difference if he can set something up, setting up for your team is not an assassin trait. This should be obvious by now, but pyke is NOT an assassin, he is a support first, assassin second.

Because Pyke is not a traditional assassin.

Pyke can't 100-0 anyone with one rotation unless he is at least 3-4 levels ahead of them and 3-4k gold AND on top of that his target must have built 0 defences.

Pyke can facilitate and clean up fights. that's what he does.

I've not seen Pyke "abused in solo lanes" since people stopped playing him outside of support after his first week in the game.

Didn't watch MSI? Or follow champion trends in u.gg and other sites?

No? I play the game, and given that I don't really see it in the game, I don't perceive it to be this holy terror that the OP claims it is. The upper ends of the game and the whole eSports scene do not represent the general populace that plays this game.

Pyke mid has over 53% winrate in every rank bracket.

the lower the elo the lower his pickrate is though, ranging from 1,2%-4% silver-masters.

So if you are lower than plat it's quite possible you haven't even met a mid lane pyke.

Pyke solo mid is one of the strongest picks in the current meta in Korean soloque for half a year now. Just because it is rare in NA doesn't mean it is weak. Like look at Hecarim. It took like 4 months for NA to realize he is broken as heck with predator.

I take it that you also don't like Ekko?

Your joke doesn't work, since he said 2 hard CCs and Ekko just has 1.

Hethalean3 votes

Well, it's not a joke.

You literally answered your own question. He is a support with assassin capabilities. Pyke is absolute garbage as an assassin since he is unable to get his own leads in the vast majority of cases and when compared to other assassins his killing potential is quite low on his own unless stupidly fed.

Saezio5 votes

His killing potential solo is exactly 0%. And the amount of feed he needs to make that 0% into 5% is gold that would make any champion oneshot.
