The ranked system will never feel fair as long as teammates outweigh your OWN performance

A single players knowledge, decision making, will and mechanics does not win you every single game.

  1. Winning because you got carried
  2. Losing because one lane got destroyed

^^ As long as these two coexist and do not partially infulence our MMR / LP we will NEVER have a balance. in other words

  • Players will climb off of sheer luck
  • Players will also fall further than they should

Luck should never be a term in regards to matchmaking. SKILL should be only used. Oh im LUCKY i got the jungler who properly ganks and coordinates with the team to take objectives .. notice how im referring to someone else and not MYSELF this is because i must too pay their sins and equally receive their blessings.

Falling further in other words paying for the sins of the father you did have or never had, since the matchmaking system is always against you its hard to feel important when your not actually contributing to the lost and this is literally where ALL THE TOXICITY comes from in this game if i didn't feel like someone was holding me back i wouldn't say jack shit i would have no choice but to blame myself but matchmaking as it is only turns league into a blame game.

There are PLENTY of ways to make matchmaking better and this my suggestion, add another variable alongside the current one that effects MMR / LP gain and call it TRUE SKILL.

True skill does not take sides with wins or loses its only purpose is to determine how skillful the player is overall. It takes farm, objective pressure , and KDA into consideration but does not judge based on lets say your end game KDA score instead it records moments of glory throughout the match , its designed to read "effort" and significance of performance in situations this can be read as

  • Taking dragon AFTER tier 1 tower
  • Saving a tower from a 5 man siege
  • Countering the enemy jungle
  • ETC

Basically it looks for you to get things done within a certain time frame assuming you got a lot of good things done within a certain amount of time it then recognizes it as "effort". Effort will always = performance done within X time. Then after matches your MMR/LP changes but then your TRUE skill will then be applied, rounded and estimated 10 - 15% of loss/gain towards a higher or lower number. Also the current MMR/LP will be slightly lowered to around 85 - 90% of it normal value so it'd be

**Regular MMR/LP rating 85 - 90% , True skill rating 10 - 15% **

In ten matches a player for this example lost 5 out of 10 but in all ten matches performed remarkably despite winning & losing so the players 5 for 5 becomes more of a 6 for 4 thus more accurately judging the players skill. This makes players feel responsible for themselves and not others it forces you to work on yourself.

well its a team game 5 vs 5 not 1 vs 1

My idea only takes 10 - 15% of the current system used.. 85 - 90% is well over still an infulence on winning or losing as a team.

yet RIOT tried to encourage ranked team play ... and people balked at it...

people would then say so and so is boosted and gets carried due to rank teams /flex queue and the only true way to show skill was solo queue..

and its a game of so many variables... my pc and connection and keyboard/mouse monitor might be better then yours... so i could have an unfair advantage cuz you cant afford the same top of line gaming set up as i do ... and you are on a average laptop and a shared connection at college or where ever

so in my eyes the whole rank system is skewed ...

the only way to truly tell who is better ... is people playing on an equal playing field where nothing but their skill can influence the game such as they do in pro play, dedicated server, lan connection all using same monitor, pc etc

you can still play well in a team game tho

never said you cant play well in a team game but its hard to single out skill of 1 player in a rating system in a game that is focused on team play

yes I agree this is a team game, your individual skill matters but only as far as it contributes to the team mechanic. I personally don't like ranked at all and avoid it but that doesn't mean I want to lose all my matches just because I get matched with unskilled players, hell I'm sure there are several unranked players that could stomp on the pro level players in a 1v1, they just don't get a chance to because they have the same mentality that the OP has, and that's blame others for my losses and not myself. you can play great as a soloist but if your teamwork sucks then you should be working on that

i would have to disagree that a casual player could win 1 vs 1 a pro player considering that a pro is just that a professional ... someone who plays and studies the game inside and out and practices 12+ hrs a day

not saying its impossible but extremely highly unlikely

so lets for example take you vs faker 1 vs 1 could you win once maybe... could you win majority of the time over a 10 games? 50 games? 100 games no you might have a 5% chance to capitalize on a mistake he made that would let you win ... but out of 10 games i say he wins 9. out of 50 games 44 of them out of 100 games 92 of them

well I'm a bad example for this since I have almost a 50% winrate on my normal games, what I was implying is that there are people who choose to stay out of ranked because they don't need a little emblem to tell them they are good, they play because they like it, I'm sure there are people who play as often if not more then pro gamers but choose not to play ranked because they cant get a team together or they would rather remain casual (granted that's a bit excessive on the casual part)

I'm just pointing out that when a low elo players says that ranked is luck based or blames their teammates, people would just comment "git gud."
