This would not help the issue being described. You are wanting to increase awareness of pings by using additional visual indicators however there are a few notes about this problem and the proposed solution.
The current ping system is already quite invasive with it's alerts. It plays a sounds, records a message which can be seen at all times and plays animations on the minimap which catch the eye.
While there are likely players with actual handicaps that may not get as much value out of this alert system, the majority of players who do not get alerted by this do so of their own choice.
This comes down to 3 basic choices:
- Allowing Distractions - Such as playing music even though you know it makes you miss pings
- Refusing to be map aware - This means not looking at the map or chat and as such missing the visual information that is already there. Interestingly if this is worked on, then pings become less important as you should know for instance whenever an enemy is MIA before the ping.
- Seeing or hearing the pings, but choosing to ignore them - This happens to a lot of people due to some common human psychology and can happen for a few reasons. This could be due to emotional state, what we all like to call being tilted. This could be due to seeing a ping spammed which changes the information in most minds from being actual information to being a person attempting to command you which leads to defiance and in general the behavior opposite of what was suggested in the spam. It could even simply be that the person has a reasonable disagreement to what was suggested such as someone pinging danger because they saw a lone Kat and perceived her as a threat and the person they were alerting saw the ping, checked the map and noticed that all 4 other enemies were on the other side of the map so knowing how vulnerable Kat is just stayed or even perhaps engaged into a fight with her.
The solution which is proposed doesn't fix any of these issues.
People who are allowing themselves to be distracted are simply distracted.
People with low visual awareness will not see new visual information often.
People who ignore the information will not all of the sudden stop ignoring it just because it looks different.
The solution has some degree of solving the issue with you personally, giving you alerts that you in particular may pay attention to. However even here in that example of a person who could be positively affected it is still asking a development team to work on creating a solution to an issue which you yourself could solve at any time by not doing the things which pull your attention away from the game.
Because of the reasons mentioned above I think that this idea is a lot of effort for no reasonable gain and that instead you should just consider turning off the music.
