Some champions are simply too easy to play

Annie Garen Katarina MasterYi Singed Tryndamere Udyr Warwick etc. etc.

Look, I'm not saying these champs are overpowered or any of the sort. Let's say a new player choses someone like Riven, then he meets Garen top. Riven has a massive learning curve; Garen not so much. The Garen will win without a doubt. Not only do these champs turn games into free wins against beginners who choses more difficult champions, but these champions (at higher elos) will either completely lack counterplay or just be so predictable because of their lack of outplay potential and become useless.

I don't think anyone enjoys spending a lot of time mastering a new champ, then get roflstomped by some first time Katarina simply because the champ doesn't require any functioning braincells to do well with.

Honestly though I don't think any champions are "hard" to play. Kalista is about the only one I really struggle with but that's partially because I almost never ADC in the first place and suck at kiting. The hard part of this game is engaging, disengaging, focusing, positioning, rotating, etc. Basically strategy. Playing a champ mechanically well should only take 5-6 games to figure out. Outplaying other people takes a bit longer as you have to learn all the different counters and matchups.

To my point, WW, while possibly the easiest champ in the game mechanically, is one of the hardest to play well. He doesn't have any fall back patterns if his ult is canceled or if he can't out trade someone with auto attacks. This requires WW players to really gauge a fight going in and consider more variables than say an Ekko who can just ult if things go wrong and start over.

Pretty much this. All champions share the same basic mechanics. This game is a lot more about knowing what to do, rather than the actual execution. Sure, there are a few techniques which require some practice like an Insec or Riven animation cancelling, but they don't take too long to pick up and are usually pretty consistent and easily recreated once you have learned them.

Saying any specific champion is too easy is kind of pointless, because every champion is easy. The hard part isn't playing them correctly, but playing them perfectly, and that's true for any champion.

Tbh I think you're being salty. Your post is mainly about skillshot vs no skillshot champions, along with champions like kalista that have unique mechanics.

Every champion has limitations, counterpicks, strengths, and weaknesses. The difficulty level of each champion comes with its own risk and reward. Garen is easier to play than riven, but a good garen player can't do as much as a good riven player because of the limitations of the champions (Mobility and CC are the most noticeable).

Personally, I prefer the no-skillshot champions. I'd love to play zed and velkoz, but at 200 ping it isn't possible to do so effectively. Katarina is much easier to use at this ping, along with every other champion you mentioned.

And if "the champ doesn't require any functioning braincells to do well with," then all Katarina players would be in Challenger :D

I can't agree that all champs are "easy" to play. Though I might believe that few are truly "hard" to play. I'd put Kalista on that list. I'm an ADC main, but holy shit I'm bad with her.
