Tweaking Gnar to make him viable

So I was looking at Gnar's stats and noticed something really odd about him.

His mini form scales better than mega form even though mega is the form he relies on mostly late game. I mean his ult scales at 20% bonus AD to 30% bonus AD.

A champ who can barely control his transforms actually scales better in the form meant for do doing and actually keeping him in the fight? And his ult which is only usable when able to transform or transformed scales terribly.

Riot needs to either make him have some more early game pressure because he is extremely lack luster pre-6. Or give him a late game that is a lot more centered around mega gnar instead of just running in and doing a bunch of damage with mini gnar and hoping for a decent ult (that is really hard to use correctly).

He has perhaps one of the highest skill caps in the game, therefore he should be rewarded for being good at transitioning into late game.

you do realize gnar is god tier right...?

Gnar is the exact opposite of god tier. He is countered by 75% of top lane. Including extremely off meta-picks like GP. He has no early game, he has no late game. The champs he actually counters I can barely even use 1 hand for. J4, Shyvana, Tryndamere. On top of this he can't tank well at all because it takes so long to force mega gnar that you enter the fight at 50-75% hp. And his ult is extremely unreliable (the side boxes need to be the same as the front and back ones).

I'm not sure what world you live in man, but Gnar is a top-pick right now in Solo-Q top-lane. He is a safe lane-bully that has a godly team fight if you time your passive correctly (easier said than done, but the late-game mechanic on his passive probably means you'll have the opportunity to have a semi-impactful ult sometime during a fight)

Don't believe me? Here's the opinion of Phy, a Diamond player on EUW who makes youtube SoloQ advice vids.

Also, nobody builds Gnar focused around his mini form because its range is too short to really function as an effective damage-dealer. Most people build straight tank so that they can be useful in Mega-Gnar form and maybe build a Tri-force. You can always go full-tank though and still have a godly lane-phase and teamfight.

Yeah sure he isn't noob-friendly like Warwick or Garen, but he isn't exactly the hardest champ to play in the game, he's pretty OP right now as it is and probably is justified in getting some damage nerfs (currently on the PBE)

You're right. He is pick or ban in competitive because he sucks, my mistake. This guy is a strong early game bully, his mega form wins virtually all trades and his mini form has stupid poke and great mobility.

He's mostly for utility. You don't pick Gnar to carry games. You pick him for his CC and tanking abilities.

Gnar is overbearing in teamfights and has too few weaknesses in lane. My full opinion buried here: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/oguF4Aek-just-some-gnar-bugs-and-thoughts?
