Thoughts on BE/IP changes
I've been trying to distill why the new system seems to feel bad to me so far, and this morning I think I was able to distill just what makes me feel frustrated by the system.
Story time: I woke up this morning and was like "I'm going to play a couple quick ARAMs get my FWOTD bonus and then start working." After losing the first two I realized my frustration level was higher then normal and since I normally play ARAMs and life is good, it's something that has changed recently.
The Realization: After two games and an hour+ of time sunk into the game, there was little reward to show for it. After several days of playing (generally getting FWOTD and stopping) my BE is still where it was several days ago, and with losing my XP has not moved much higher.
The Problem: Having been level 30 now for many years, the way I have been using to track progress and improvement and some record of playing league was to track IP. I would watch it slowly tick upwards until eventually I could get another new champion.
With the new BE changes after several days of playing I have no perceptible gain.
I have all the champions now (Thanks for the refund on the runes, that finished the champs out for me), and level isn't really something that I or it would seem many people who have been playing the game for a long time seem to care about. So the point of frustration boils down to the fact that I can play several games in a row and feel like there is no perceptible progress.
I understand that Riot is planning to add some BE onto the FWOTD bonus, however, that still means you can play many games, and especially if you lose many or most show little reward, beyond some amount of XP that doesn't really register as a reward.
Maybe part of the problem is that even when I get to a level, instead of a consistent amount of reward, it gives you a lootbox, and on a personal level I really really really hate lootboxes, which makes the level rewards even less enticing.
Not super looking for responses, merely hoping a rioter reads and takes away my thoughts on why the system can be frustrating.
