Ranged tops are not a new thing. Melees have been surviving up there for years, so honestly your best bet is to learn and adapt. Other people can do well, and soon so will you.

Nasus - Ride out the storm. They will leave. TahmKench - Take TP, Farm under turret til 6. Destroy. DrMundo - CLEAVE, CLEAVE SOME MORE Rammus Shen - Farm under turret, Taunt them to death Alistar - Farm under turret.. Flash, head butt, knock up under turret Tryndamere - Steal jungle camps, farm under turret til 6. Wait for a gank and DESTROY.

ASK FOR GANKS

There are a number of others, but this is a few to get you started. Riot isn't the one who needs to do something. You can always take a ranged top against them!

Ganks are not reliable enough to act like they are the only means of winning lane.

The other issue is that the champ who have classically been the counters to ranged tops are not doing so well as of late. Yes I am saying the "dive fighters" that everyone seem to bitch about be it Riven, Irelia, Jax and the others do have a reason for existing in the game. And they have been the reason why marksmen top was not common.

But playing an immobile melee against a ranged top who has a fair amount of positioning in their kit is extremely frustrating to the point that going AFK might actually seem like a worthwhile thing to do.

I provided you a list that had at least 6 champs who you don't need to rely on receiving a gank to at least HOLD lane. You don't have to win it.. you just have to not lose it before your team is strong enough to group.

They're incredibly annoying, but for the most part they can't carry. It's hell pre-6, but usually post 6 you can kick their ass pretty reliably.

Here are quite a few that can keep up with ADC kiting, and sustain their poke.

hmmm usually when im in that situation where I have no gap closer or im not tanky. I try to either outplay the matchup cause if I have no neither of those I should have damage atleast. Or buy mobility boots and gank other lanes, leave the top lane unless you have to defend turret at full hp (if its already at half I just give it up sometimes cause its easier for the jungler to gank for you at 2nd tier turret or they might just leave top lane so have free farm.

If you dont have damage, tankiness, or a gapcloser.. or some sort of sustain... then that champion is a useless top laner, throw it in the garbage

Then you got counterpicked.

Do you whine when you pick Nasus and your enemy laner locks in Darius?

Either play champions who can kill them in lane like Wukong, pick something safe that they probably can't kill in lane like Mundo, pick a champion who counters them in a general sense like Rammus, or accept that you're going to be denied CS because you were counter picked.

With that said, Graves and Quinn are probably too strong at the moment, but they're frankly not even the strongest top laners.

Do not pick "traditional / melee" top laners into ranged poke champs. Simple as that.

If you have to pick blind, then pick something reliable unless you are confident enough with the champ regardless if you get countered or not.
