Zagara/Abathur/broodmother type champion in league? map manipulation.
A few years ago, back when HoTS first released, a rioter commented that a Abathur type champion would indeed work in league and im wondering how true that holds today. This game and champions released nowadays are all about "damage damage and more damage". sure some may have cool unique mini games or mobility, but at the end of the day the way they win the game is how much damage is applied to targets. the upcoming champion Kai'sa has a fun looking kit, but that entire kit revolves around her dealing as much damage as possible to a target. zoe had a fun kit with her W and portal jumps, but her entire kit revolved around one shotting you with E+Q.
Well what about a champion that DOES NOT need to engage with the enemy or objectives directly at all to win a game but instead created win conditions indirectly? And im not talking about mere split pushing here, but a champion that provides his/her team with conditions to win through through pure map control or manipulation only. Someone like Abathur who directly takes control of minions/teammates/enemies without ever needing to even go on the battlefield himself. Someone like Zagara who providers her team with superior vision control through creep spread and split pushes with her minions. someone like broodmother who shapes an entire portion of the map to her suiting in order to gain an advantage wherever her nest is.
Is a champion like that too far fetched for league right now? Or is everyone just so tunneled on doing the most damage possible or tanking the most dmg possible? Lore wise it would make perfect sense if said champion was a voidborn champion. For example the champion could spread void contamination that would slowly spread throughout the entire map and even up to the enemy base if not dealt with. Takes control or empowers minions/teammates through void corruption. Disables enemy towers temporarily or empower your own towers. temporarily corrupting and taking control of jungle camps, dragon, or even baron. (these are just ability examples and not an actual kit). There are actually many indirect ways a champion can win a game.
Personally i think a champion like that can work in league today and its a champion that is desperately needed in order to give the game some much needed uniqueness and change the mold on how a champion can win a game. Anyone else think so? Even currently we have zzrot portal and banner of command to gain indirect advantages in a lane, but not a single champion with abilities that provide this same effect. Yorick is maybe the closest, but his minions will never win a game on there own, he still needs to be wailing on towers to actually win a game.
