An idea on how to fix Ahri

She's too safe for an assassin. There is no counterplay to a champion with 3 free flashes that can be used to get on you, and get out.

My view of a good assassin is one who needs to take skill to take out their opponent and getting out. Champions like Zed have only 1 escape if they want to take out their ADC, and keep in mind that 1 escape has to be used scarcely because if you use it too quickly or too slowly you will not get a kill. Zed is designed so that the minute he goes in, he has 1 shot to kill the ADC and get out, mind his W that is usually used to provide extra damage to kill the ADC. Why does ahri get 3 free flashes on top of her normal flash + a single target CC that keeps her enemies hot and ready for the kill?

Ahri has been a solid pick for a couple of seasons now because of her kit, not because of her numbers. If you wan't to put Ahri in a balanced state Spirit rush should at the very least only be casted twice and her E needs a shorter range. That way she can actually try to kill someone instead of flashing, missing e and q and w, and just spirit rushing out of a 5 man ambush that she got herself into.

Ahri is safe?

Compared to Zed "maybe"

But compared to "assassins" like Fizz Leblanc ?

Definitely not considered safe, in my opinion.

Ahri is ranged with ranged waveclear, that adds to her safeness.

Then she has a 1-2 sec charm, 3 dashes, and a 215 bonus ms on her Q.

So yeah, she's pretty safe. Safer than Fizz Leblanc . They put themselves in danger to clear waves, if they don't, they'll get shoved to tower. How they clear waves is pretty important. I feel like Orianna is a pretty safe pick even though she doesn't have any dashes.

OP is talking about out of lane, but im talking about in lane.

She is broken, but your arguement and idea's aren't good and appealing to others, you are over exagerating and your completely deleting her playstyle, concept, and identity.

If you want to be more realistic

They can start by lower her Q ms, and have it build up by each rank, when she maxes her Q out its the same ms as she had from before, because right now, u only max out ur Q for wave clear and damage it seems like. so she needs a lane and early game weakness, which this can somewhat effecet her roam as well.

If its not good enough then her Charm AP raio can be toned down a bit, or her CC, and have some other way to compensate like, the further the charm hits the longer the CC is, if its closer the shorter it is

you are not surpose to completely gut the champion, you are surpose to "balance" it, there is a reason why we try to work other ways around while compensate them with buffs after nerfs, depending how much it hurts the champion or if it dosen't hurt them at all

she has skillshots tho tons of skill right cause they're dodgable

That's not the point. Her 3 free ult flashes aren't skillshots.

But think of it in a team fight sense. You are thinking of the laning phase specifically. After the laning phase, Ahri has to dash in to get kills, because unlike other mages, Ahri dashes in and saying "hi!" to the enemy Riven while staying at some distance away, while other champs are a stadium away.

Mannny1 votes

What the hell? Her damage is not what makes her OP, It's the fact that she is very safe not only in laning phase but in teamfights as well with her 3 flashes I have already stated. Plus, every other assassin apart from Fizz actually jump in and say hi out of nowhere.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

I didn't say anything about her damage. What?

Safe? Have you played as her or against her in mid to late game team fights? Ahri dashes in with her ult to participate in battle. Those ult "flashes" are used for a fleeing Ahri who was only using her Q and her pick E in combat, so not using her W or R offensively.

I never said Ahri appears out of nowhere. I said she she dashes close to the enemy to say hi. Not in melee auto attack range but in range for her autos or abilities at least.

I've played as her many times. Her Q needlessly gives movement speed and she has 3 dashes that can be used for various reasons, not just for fleeing. Her abilities are so versatile, her w can be used offensive+defensive, her q gives movement speed so it can be used to run away as well, if the 3 dashes + a flash wasn't enough for her, her charm also is a CC which can be used to keep enemies at bay while she runs as well. The numbers don't lie, her winrate and playrate are both high meaning she is too strong and this has been going on for seasons. Stop trying to vouch for a champion that is broken.

You know, I just thought of something. When was the last time Ahri has been changed in any patch? Earliest is mid season mage update of last year. And what are those pick rates to win rates per month to now? Has it always been this high or has it climbed since a certain point in time in the game?

(I have a point to all this but I need this information for it to be valid.) (I am ignoring your "Her Q needlessly gives movement speed" remark because that just says you do not understand her design, something I do not want to argue... again)

She has always been strong since patch 4.12

Doesn't answer my questions.

Her winrate,to be fair, was at a normal 51.12% before the mage update, and afterwards it jumped up a bit. It's always been at least 51% and up for 3 seasons on end which is fine, Hell Anivia is in the same boat if it was based solely on winrate.

the issue that sparked the Ahri posts it that her playrate almost quadrupled since she became "meta" and her winrate hasn't gone down, in fact it has risen. I am making this post because many other champions like LeeSin Lucian and Graves all share the same issue as being very popular generalist picks in their respective roles with high playrates and winrates. They all have something in common, high mobility mixed with good(insert essential part of their role). Lucian has his essential double shot, graves has wonderful clearings and Lee was all around a good pick until he was nerfed. I hope you see where I am coming from and why I chose to make this post.

I understand where you are coming from now that you are comparing to other champions and seeing how she was before. Thanks. I suspected there is a reason that Ahri is strong:

the issue that sparked the Ahri posts it that her playrate almost quadrupled since she became "meta" and her winrate hasn't gone down, in fact it has risen.

That being the item meta we are in. Think about it, how much MR has been added into the game since a year ago. A lot.

Last year, Riot lowered AP Ratios on mages in exchange for higher base damages. This cause the following problems:

  1. Some mages can be played as "Support" and with them being Meta, Riot has to address that and nerfed them accordingly, something Ahri does not have to worrry about because she is not a viable mage support.

  2. Ahri's True damage makes up for two things that changed in items:

I) Riot taking away AP. This makes all mages (Except Veigar) suffer with their bursting on top the lower AP Ratios (Compare any mage pre-mid season changes of season 6 to post and all of them suffer in burst). The true damage helps maintain some of that burst that is otherwise lost.

II) The added Magic Resistance in the game. Seeing the enemy top lane and marksmen have item 3156 and item 3814 makes mages burst decrease yet even more. Look at what is happening this mid season: item 3026 has MR and AD meant for marksmen and we all know fighters and assassins (AD ones) are going to get it along side with Magic Resistance per level. EVERY Mage has to deal with so much more magic resistance that did not exist before with lower AP Ratios. Ahri is one of the few mages that has True damage and allows her to ignore those resistances, making her stronger than others, even though everything else in her kit has to be bothered with it.

  1. Lethality is something that makes mages burst laughable. Originally, assassins and mages where the top two bursting classes in the game. Now with the lethality stat, along side with changes I have already mentioned, makes fighters burst better than mages and AD Caster Marksmen-- MissFortune, Varus, Jhin for some examples-- can out do mages burst (again except Veigar). This helps Ahri out because her mobility can get the heck out of that Jayce that just E Q and got rid of 70% of all mages health. All mages (including Veigar) have to take their slow time running away from that burst. Ahri can Q and ult if needed.

I do not know about the champions you mentioned but Ahri is strong because of the item changes Riot has done for AD and against AP. Ahri is simply the best mage to deal with all of this.

So much MR? No worries, I got True damage. Dealing with an EoN MF, I can run away easily.

You said that Ahri's playrate quadrupled right? She hasn't been touched since mid season mage update of last year (which is no reason for her playrate to change all that much, honestly if we ignore that, it be like a year and a half ago if not longer). Ahri is simply strong because what Riot did to the game and I would not like a champion being nerfed because of the direction Riot made for the game.

It is like if Karthus became Meta all of a sudden and everyone complains about his single target Q or his E or his R ... again... and Riot nerfs him despite the fact he has not been touched since.... season 4? He is only strong because of what Riot did to the game, Karthus himself is... himself for the past two years.

Or a better example is Miss Fortune and how Riot nerfed her Q because of how awesome it is with Lethality, especially if the first bounce kills a minion. Nerfing MF in that way is not fair because of the stat she uses. That is my argument for Ahri basically.

Get Mages in the right spot before touching Ahri, otherwise she will have something like a Taliyah nerf, in place of items, it is the mage class.

yeaa but those don't really do damage, her damage is all in her E and Q.

free ult flashes? What? her ult costs mana. And you can't really compare her ult to flash, flash is no cost and instant, theres a delay on hers and her travel isn't instant
