@Riot: can you ask commentator stop saying ocean and cloud drakes are useless?

Tundra Hunter··22 votes·1,221 views

We hear it every single game, and it is annoying, in my opinion, because 1st, I don't think these drakes are useless (which is why pro team actually do take them despite commentator saying "why? it's useless"), and 2nd, it is just boring to hear this 10 times per game.

Rather than forcing the commentators to say things, they should balance the drakes better.

Or choose Shoutcasters who actually know shit about the game

Who is it that you think doesn't know anything about the game? The only one I could agree with there is Riv.

Well if shoutcasters are saying shit like "Xdragon is worthless" it sounds like they are S4 and started olaying in season 6.

Mute them if they're being toxic and be sure to report them

Wind is personally my favorite for rotating hard, personally the ocean drake is useless past first dragon... lane sustain is great lategame it means nothing.

Unless you're soraka, then it's nice late.

Otherwise yeah it's useless.

I would agree with the soraka comment.

On that note there are maybe a handful of other champions that could really use it to poke, but mana costs are already sooooo low.

Don't forget Nami.

Until you have 3 of them with a Garen with Warmog's

Also Swain likes the mana regen.

Something I dont think people realize is that the ocean drakes are always going unless you're in combat with a champion

so that means even while youre taking drakes/baron/herald you're slowly regenerating health which may help you out for a teamfight

First ocean drake is pretty sweet. You don't really need more than one to solve any kind of mana issue though and past the first one they're sorta useless.

Wind drakes are my favorite non-Infernal drake, though (and I actually -like- them better than Infernals too, but Infernal just clearly has lots of power).

I actually don't like Earth Drake that much. Towers already die super quick; I don't care about getting help taking them.

Earth drake is more important for elder and baron not necessarily taking towers. With one or even two earth drakes you can easily sneak a 20 min baron.

That is a really good point, honestly. It's nice for taking Baron.

I'd still rather have permanent mobility boots, though.

Depends, when I play games if we get a free cloud/ocean I don't mind. But I've had teammates give up turrets for them and I don't think it's worth. It's fine with earth/infernal because it makes it easier for us to even it out.

I think its mostly priority, for example, if you securing an Ocean Drake as your 3rd drake while the enemy team is getting a tower thats a no go. Ocean drake is less useful the longer the game goes on(for most champions) so a trade like that would mean a commentator says "Why, that's pointless."

Cloud drake i do think is more useful in Pro play because extra movement speed is amazing but again if your team is losing a tower for such a low amount of movement speed it's not worth it because you lose map pressure anyway.

Cloud Drake: If you losing map pressure for a dragon that's supposed to help you apply more, that's a no go. Ocean Drake: If your losing anything for a drake that's only really useful in the first 20 minutes, it's a no go.

Earth and Fire dragon are always useful though, you can never go wrong with more damage. In my opinion, Ocean and Cloud should spawn more frequently early, as in have a higher chance so instead of a random chance you have a higher chance of Ocean or Cloud in early but lower chance late game. That way their usefulness can be fully expressed even in Pro play.
