So just fuck AP champions that wanted to buy GA, then?
In the process of tuning GA toward carries you've effectively removed the item as a viable choice for half the carries in the game. Why does Varus get to use GA and not Xerath?

If I remember correctly, they said that they made an AP version of it. But in the testing phase, it turned out that people were just buying
and almost no one bought the GA version. So they decided that it simply is not needed as long as Zhonyas exists and removed it again.
Since both items kinda fulfill the same role, it makes sense in my opinion.

Ehhh, idk about that exactly. I'm pretty sure Veil is changing because Edge of Night exists. It's the EoN for AP users. Not necessarily changing both so they get their respective defense capabilities.
I wish they wouldn't do this shit, I'd like to be able to get BV or GA depending on the situation, not be forced into one or the other.
IIRC they said that they either got Zhonya or both, and both was too frustrating to play against.
Here's a list of AP Champions who build GA commonly.
...and so on, there´s more ap users then just mages, even if Riot does indeed tend to forget that.
kayle and akali rarely if ever buy GA, nidalee and elise rarely buy ga. cho, maokai, and nunu aren't the carry AP champions being referred to (they are tanks with magic damage who are very rarely built with some small amount of AP. having ap scalings doesnt make a tank an ap champion anymore than lucian having ap scalings makes him a poke mage.)
Imo you might as well remove GA now, it feels so toxic on carries. Like "we might still win if we get a good fight... oh, nvm, the enemy Vayne got a GA.." lol.
It's basically the only thing that gives champions vulnerable to dives any agency back when the enemy team goes dive heavy,
Well Id argue
is enough, not to mention
and even
99% of the carries in the game don't/can't afford to buy any of those items because of how important getting powerspikes ASAP is now on ADCs since games are decided early and not late.
Most of my games last 30-35 minutes which is plenty of time for an ADC to have 4 completed items and boots. You can usually tell if a game is only going to last 20 minutes by the 10 minute mark so your argument is irrelevant.
um... any of those item? tabi and botrk I rushed on every one I see playing adc
Yup. That was the point. They wanted to aim it towards AD champs and not AP. AP already has a 2 second stasis: Zhonyas. Getting GA just added another one making it that much harder to lock down threats.
Few champions buy both items. You lose a good chunk of damage when opting for Zhonya's and GA offers none whatsoever. Taking both means in terms of damage you're choosing to set yourself 1.5 items behind everyone else.
I've done it once in the past on Lux.
My build was:

While I would not recommend the build normally, the enemy team in that game had Zed, Rengar and Ekko.
They hated me.
What I think is interesting is that AP champions are willing to pick up component (or completed) AD Items for their unique traits. You'll see
bought on AP champions, even in pro games, getting upgraded to
if the game goes long enough. I suspect that the new
will be in a similar boat, where the Armor will be bought first, then the item completed when possible.
Yeah,
is nice and all, but if it was as amazing at defense as everyone always tries to make it out to be we'd see it bought on both AP and AD champions.

You can't aa during zhonya's so it's only useful for casters. Scimitar gives stats mages don't want but it doesn't actively harm them.
They have Zhonyas, ADCs dont.

they have a late game item with QSS, AP don't
AP gets an 8 second cd Banshees Veil. ADs don't. We can go all day if you really want.
Not sure why you got downvoted. The new banshee's veil is only viable on ap.
Because that isn't live at this point and it was changed to 45 second cd on the PBE.
Total Cost: 2700g Build Path: Fiendish Codex + Negatron Cloak + Amplifying Tome + 645g +70 Ability Power +45 Magic Resist +10% Cooldown Reduction Unique Passive: Grants a spell shield that blocks the next enemy ability. This shield refreshes after no damage is taken from enemy champions for 44-8 seconds based on level.
Is the last iteration of it. 8 seconds as I said earlier. Even if you buy it first item by the time you finish it it is already down to a low 30/upper 20 second cooldown or so.

+10% Cooldown Reduction
And the proliferation continues.

which is not as good as GA. Hell Zhonya's gets you killed more times than not.
It's better than GA if you use it properly. It's just harder to use efficiently.
To be fair, GA gets you killed a second time more times than not. They both function the same way, except you have control on Zhonya. They're supposedly in the process of creating a new anti-AD item for mages, and they're also getting Banshee's Veil which will be extremely valuable and useful. 8s at level 18 before BV's shield is recreated is a big deal.
Them fadeaways with dropping
's full combo, using
and then killing everyone before you come out of it. My favorite part of using the item.
AP champs have
, and ADs can't buy that. It works both ways, my friend.
AD champs have
/
/
. APs can't buy those.
Well, APs are getting the other spell shield so...
So ADC's have
. I won't counter HP items like cleaver and steraks because mages have HP items too.
And mages get
.
Seems fair.
How the hell its fair? xDD AD have as you said 5 defensive items THAT also gives them ad with the least being 40(or 30 I don't remember exactly). If it comes to live that is. APs have only damn 2 one of which has an active that stuns you. Yes it is amazing but lets be honest now. If you are alone and you do evade an fizz ulti or zed's. You will still die. At least 75% of the times.
most of the times delays the inevitable. Which is fine if ADs didn't have 3 damn items that give mr AND AD. While also having good actives/passives. I mean look, they can get a spellshield, an magic shield AND a damn cleanse, that also gives ms for a second. So again, how is it fair?
Are you saying AP has better itemization or AD does? Because im saying AD has better itemization and you seem to be thinking the opposite. We should be agreeing, I think, but your arguing.
They probably missed the sarcasm.
That still isn't enough if take into consideration that ad carries can buy the aforementioned items and get 35+45+35=115mr. On the other hand AP carries can buy only
incase they need armour and ap. Also the new
will be less effective against ADs. And hell its strongest perk, which is its spellshield, has a high cd at early on. . APs have only 1 defensive item for ad or ap. While ADs have 3 for mr and actually none for AD. But then again AD also have lifesteal. Who needs armour when you have lifesteal. So yeah all in all in my opinion its a shitty move to make
only for AD. Also before ANY OF YOU decide to say < BUT HEY
CAN MAKE YOU INVULNERABLE AND ITS OP YADA YADA> or < You can make everything sound op by saying its pros and etc> ahem.
Yes
can indeed make you invulnerable. BUT! It also stuns you. And while your cds are coming up. So does the enemy's. Also your enemy can time a skillshot so it hits you just the millisecond the stasis ends so yeah there you have it.
aint op. Period.
And finally let me find the downsides of
,
,
. Eon's spellshield can be destroyed by any spell. Or by simple waiting. Even though when you are chased by a Quinn or Zed you cant really wait but still it has counterplay. I guess. Maybe if you have company. Yeah maybe this one doesn't have. Anyway moving on. Maws blocks only magic dmg. Which is the only dmg mages can deal usually. And it gives lifesteal when it procs. And attack dmg. Until out of combat. Hm. The counterplay is to bait it? Oh it provides magic resistant? Well still it can still be proced by poking. What? Its cd is 90 seconds? Well yeah. Fk. And lastly Mercurial. It can cleanse every cc and provides a good amount of mr, a nice amount of ad, and lifesteal, again for some reason. Oh and its cleanse effect has 90 seconds cd, again. L
Look here I don't want to sound salty or anything , but I'm a lowly gold. Or rather was. From my point of view there are no clear downsides of picking them. Actually screw that. I salty . I mean how can I not be. ADs get all this nice stuff and what do I get. A self-stun just so I can dodge a dangerous skill? Hell the other thing that I liked with APs was
and got nerfed to the ground. The other awesome ap item
take a shitload of time to be transformed while also destroying your early to mid game. Oh and btw that thing there has a cd AND an actual cost.
hey all you cry baby ap mages that build
get over it
Zhonyas is not as good as you might think.
Mages have 2 defensive damage items, and AD champions have 5 defensive damage items, not counting health items as both side has access to it.
lol but then why is it one of the most popular items build in all of league ?
it gives cdr, ap, armor and the active of it... and its fukin cheap
You ignored the point they made that Mages get less defensive items than AD champions.
You can't just address one part of the other party's argument and expect to be taken seriously. It calls into question if you even read the whole comment to understand or if you just read until you found something you could bash the other side as 'dumber than you' for saying.
Show me the stats that is one of the most popular items in league. I'm not saying your wrong, but I'd like factual evidence first.
Its active is untargetability, but its also a self stun. Which can screw you over more than it can help.
http://www.elophant.com/league-of-legends/items/most-purchased
it is the 18th item purchased over all and 2nd completed ap item behind
for the last 7 days
if u wanna go a month its 19th over all and of all time its 34th meaning its more popular now and recent metas then before .
because its so much fun to play against a late game mage with ga and hourglass sitting in the backline. you know assassins killing you is still should be a possibility right?
"they are assassins how dare I lose to them?"
(some how on the same team)
Looking to gun you down when you're a mobiles champ like
HOW dare me want to play the game. Lel. Its a extreme condition. But when people take away an option without giving another one. People tend to get upset. "But they gave
to mages" the option people always had.
And with the unsettling amounts of options ad have.. its just feels unfair?
If a mage built BOTH of those items they're probably doing shit for damage.

In what world is Xerath buying GA.
