With the marksmen update coming up will we see the end of RNG crits?

Can we finally move crits to a charge based system where you add up to 100 then crit and each crit % is moved to crit charge amount. So finally we can have reliable damage and not super crits randomly saying FU to anyone who happens to get unlucky enough to end up on either end of the spectrum. Because as it is right now, I sometimes crit 5 times in a row with 25% chance and sometimes I don't crit for 4 AAs with 60%+ crit chance. And then theres the random crits in lane because someone brought crit runes and got a lucky RNG and literally screws the lane over with 1 AA.

I feel like I have asked for this so much, this is probably the best time to do it. Right as pre-season starts so everyone can adjust.

Basically you would add your crit charge to a pool and whenever that pool hits or exceeds 100 you would crit and any leftover would go towards your next crit.

I don't understand how you can downvote something that really should exist only to remove luck out of the game and put more skill into it. Now you would be able to play around crits and actually not just cry at RNG. I mean that's what most people hate about crits. Is the fact it has so much RNG on it that its pathetic and toxic to play as or against.

every year the same hope, and so far i´m expecting to get dissappointed again by Riot for this year. They just don´t have the courage to do the right thing as they know a large part of their playerbase is not able to grasp the concept of probability and won´t understand why change is absolutly necessary for a more healthy game. So they´ll stick to what they have. again.

Please let's not. I hate this idea so much. There are so many better ways to do this than forcing everyone to use a gimped version of Cait passive. That's seriously just the most boring and homogenizing idea I've heard of for this game.

Just derandomize crit. 1% crit chance = 1% increased autoattack damage. Exactly the same DPS as we have now without adding a boring mechanic to every ADC. It's simple and effective.

It sounds boring but its better than slamming your face into the table because Draven got 2 crits in a row on you with 5% crit chance. By doing your way you basically remove Ashe's passive. By your logic its a fucking devaluing Ashe's passive. Don't call me out on Cait when you are going to recycle Ashe's passive. And its actually better than cait's passive (hello almost 0 scaling, going from 7/6/5 AA'd only increases her net damage by up to 20% without a crit) and Cait's passive will still stack with crits like it always has.

If you go with Ashe's passive then you basically null the point of building crits past a certain point. Then Randuin's is completely useless. Crits just need their RNG removed. They don't need to be made into consistent DPS because then you all of these heavy AA people abusing it : Zed Yasuo (good bye lane phase weakness now he gets double damage amp every hit) Draven (hope you didn't like laning against him because of his huge power spike thanks to free damage on Qs) . You forget that some champs are balanced around needing crits to happen more frequently to do damage. Straight up amping damage on them makes them monsters but don't worry RNG doesn't exist so its all okay.

I don't care if it devalues Ashe's passive, and I don't care that your proposal devalues Cait's passive. That wasn't my complaint. I seriously don't give a single fuck about that. My complaint is that it gives every single champion a version of Cait's passive that they have to play around, and that's really, really dull. I hate it because it homogonizes champions. I don't want to use Caitlyn's passive on every single champion. Derandomized crit doesn't introduce a new mechanic onto everyone's kit. It's boring to give every champion in a class the exact same new mechanic they have to play around. That's my complaint. It's dull.

Ashe has a permaslow on her autoattacks. That should be enough, and if it isn't, we'll change her.

And its actually better than cait's passive

THAT MAKES ME HATE THIS EVEN MORE! My entire problem with this idea is that it makes every ADC play similarly by giving them a new, very strong mechanic they have to play around. Why would you emphasize how strong it is? I'm trying to tell you that I hate important it would be on their kits, so why would you use that to try to convince me? How is that going to placate me?

What's your point here? I don't get the relevance to this conversation. I just said that I want the random crit system to change. My derandomized system wouldn't let him do that. My post was about hating your idea, not liking the current system.

You forget that some champs are balanced around needing crits to happen more frequently to do damage.

No. They can't be because a basic principle of variability is that it will vary high and low at similar rates. They can't be balanced around expecting crits to happen frequently when by definition you can't play around that. There are no champions balanced that way.

All champions play as if crit was derandomized. Yasuo is actually one of the best examples of this. He doesn't fish for crits, he doesn't play around getting an unusual number of crits, and he generally treats crit as if it was just a flat increase to his damage. He wouldn't have any more damage than he currently does. He'd have the exact same DPS that he would have had before. He doesn't play around expecting random crits now, so nothing changes because his expected DPS doesn't change.

hope you didn't like laning against him [Draven] because of his huge power spike thanks to free damage on Qs)

I'm sorry, what? Draven's Q doesn't interact with crit. He has no interactions with crit at all. His Q wouldn't be any stronger because it doesn't benefit from crit. He won't be one-shotting anyone or even doing any more damage with a derandomized crit system, so what's the problem?

Straight up amping damage on them makes them monsters

No, it doesn't. It gives them the exact same expected DPS that they have right now. Show me some numbers. Show me where it makes them monsters. I'll prove to you that they have the exact same expected DPS if you need it, but I want to show me why you think this would make certain champions monsters.

I'm sure that's in the discussion for the rework team to be honest. They've done the experiment with Ashe no longer having the "chance" to critically strike and that was quite successful.

I've gotta say that while I enjoy the existence of critical strikes, I have an equal number of times where I've cursed their existence as well.

This would remove Ashe's niche as being the only champ who operates independent of crit chance. Seems to me that you are proposing that all marksmen should get the equivalent of Ashe's OLD passive. Which was a charge that built up over time spent not AAing and had a base charge equal to your crit chance. (ie: no crit items or runes = 0 - 100, Brawlers Gloves = 8 - 100.)

She still would. Her passive would just be consistent damage other ADCs would still have to charge up for their damage.

Her old passive was only active if she wasn't attacking which is kind of counter intuitive for an ADC. And it didn't scale at all.

I'm just trying to hopefully weed out another RNG stat for the same reason as dodge was removed. Pure consistency and skill instead of just hey look game said that this person is basically screwed because of 1 little bit of luck.

Yeah, because counting stacks for crit is totally interesting. I really can't wait to do that on every ADC. I love stack counting. It's fun and engaging, particularly when I have to do it in the exact same way no matter what ADC I play.

No, wait, I hate that and it's the entire reason I don't play people with that mechanic. Could not be less interested. Crits are fine as is. At least it doesn't force us to play differently. I can just get more damage without having to try to poke people when I get 100 stacks. Good enough for me.

The point of the lane phase is trading and farming if you don't want to play around your and your lane opponents power then you probably lose a lot of lanes that are even match ups. This would just make lanes a little less level dependant and help with using actual skill to go in on people instead of going eh i'll never be able to beat them they have 10% more damage. You could actually go "hey I can crit and go in with much higher damage and then back out" and repeat it. This also leads to you needing to have more awareness of the enemy champ.

And as Riot said the bad thing about crits is at low amounts it literally makes or breaks fights but at higher amounts it gets more and more consistent so you can rely on them. So obviously somebody with a 90% crit chance is going to see very little effect by any of these changes. The thing is mine helps make lower crit amounts more bearable on either ends of RNG. While yours just says, "They got ahead, GG can't play around flat damage increases". Think about people with stat buffs. They would be meaningful if you used them properly against ADCs instead of just being there to eat a little DPS. It would lead to counter play to ADCs especially early game.

Fuck. That. Noise. Beating the enemy should rely on me using my champion's unique mechanics well, not off of the same poke mechanic for every ADC. I don't want "I'll go in when the stacks say so" to be the goddamn golden mechanic of the ADC class. It's boooooooooooooooooooooring. If you want to make lanes less level dependent (which this wouldn't even do because the champion that is ahead is also the one in the best position to exploit the stack mechanic), do it literally any other way, but don't force everyone into the same goddamn stack building minigame.

What's fun about this? Why would we want to have every ADC play with the mechanic in lane? It sounds so boring to have to play around this.

"The point of the lane phase is trading and farming if you don't want to play around your and your lane opponents power then you probably lose a lot of lanes that are even match ups."

What? Actually now, what? What the fuck is this even saying? What are you talking about? What did I say that you're responding to here? I said you had a boring idea and you're talking about not playing around a lane opponent's power? What's the logical progression there? You've skipped a few steps here. This may make sense to you, but it's actually coming out of the blue for me.

"This also leads to you needing to have more awareness of the enemy champ"

In the exact same goddamn way for every enemy champion. "Oh, geeze, he's got stacks. I shouldn't trade". Repeat for everyone. Fuck that. I should have to pay way, way more attention to things that are different between champions. Playing a poking minigame on every single champion is not interesting.

"While yours just says, "They got ahead, GG can't play around flat damage increases""

What the fuck are you talking about? Who said a goddamn thing about flat damage increases? Crit isn't a flat damage increase. Are you talking to me or to someone else here?

"And as Riot said the bad thing about crits is at low amounts it literally makes or breaks fights "

Hm. You might be right. That might be worth fixing. Just, you know, not this way. How about we find a way to fix the problem that doesn't force everyone to play with a generic, uninteresting mechanic? How about we don't introduce new problems while fixing old ones? I'd take anything over this. I'd take an AD deathcap. I'd take removing crit entirely and rebalancing everything. Any of that is better.

I know I'm being kind of rude here, but I really, really can't express enough how much I hate this idea. I don't want to have stacking mechanics on every single ADC. Why do you want that? Like, do you actually like the mechanic, or do you just want to get rid of crit at any cost? If you do like it, why? I seriously don't see it, unless you're like a Caitlyn fanatic or something.
