Thresh is way too safe

I feel like Thresh is too safe for the utility he provides. His 'q' has 1100 range. I'm pretty sure that no other support is able to engage at such a safe distance. Most other supports put themselves in a very dangerous spot when trying to CC someone, but Thresh does not have this issue since he's able to engage from such a safe distance. There should be some risk with playing Thresh, and right now there is none. Please fix this Riot.

Thresh is very team reliant though.

Thresh is very team reliant though.

As is every champ in this game.

Not necessarily. By that I mean, they don't need their teamates to follow up on their plays. Nasus for example, mostly works alone and if he plays right, the entire enemy team will feel it. However, no matter how godly a Thresh you are, if your team outright refuses to follow up on your amazing plays, it will for the most part fizzle out and it will be as if you never made a play at all.

is not his Q.. is his whole kit. if missing Q his Rend slows you hard and prevents engage. dont get me started on his Ult.

You're right. His entire kit offers a tremendous amount of safety. Maybe he'll need more than just one nerf, but I think if we just reduce the range on his 'q' a bit that would be enough.

Thresh is nowhere near as safe as Blitzcrank to be fair.

Q also happens to be one of the slowest and most telegraphed skillshots in the game.

Also, aside from the ability to use Q to jump to targets, trying to escape as Thresh is a very difficult task. He just has to keep walking and hope he can make it to safety before being whittled down.

Let alone the fact that Thresh's only real threat is his pull. He doesn't do enough damage unless you build adc. (Which is advised against since your supposed to be support.) Also the fact that only one enemy champ can go through his ult and take damage, the rest are just slowed. People can also flash through it and jump over it no problem.

Blitz on the other hand has a instant pull, a stun that causes you to jump in the air, and a speed boost to quickly catch up to somebody to pull. He also has that shield. I think Blitz actually outranks Thresh in every department.

Thresh's entire engagement pattern is usually unsafe. If you are facing off against the enemy team and you hook, you generally need to follow up by pulling yourself to the enemy team. If you don't they get briefly stunned at a distance and then walk away. But Thresh's primary combo is hook > pull > flay >ult. This is an incredibly dangerous move for him if he doesn't have backup. If Thresh goes in by himself he's dead. Where as Blitz can just stand back and pull the enemy - he is safe either way.

1: q has a long cd if it misses (also .5 sec wind-up time)

2: no one to engage with, well then it is a useless q and you reveal your location

3: other supports have a way to start fights and in some situations are better.

Leave thresh alone, he has no armor scaling and a measly 16 armor in his base stats... when he goes for a soul just punish him for it, and if he tries to lantern souls he'll go oom... thresh is incredibly team reliant.. I can't believe i'm hearing thresh be called safe over other champions XD not from a role point of you, but from a champion point of view... Zed Leblanc Jayce Blitzcrank are all super safe. speaking of blitz tho... you didnt complain about his pull, knock up, silence, run away... or the fact that blitz building mainly support can still almost take out a squishy XD

So, Riot nerfed Blitzcrank a while ago because they felt he was too safe. Should we not do the same thing with Thresh? He has even more range than Blitzcrank, and even if he misses, he can just use Talisman to run away and try again later.
