How does adaptive work for hybrid builds/champs?

Let's say I'm playing jax with gathering storm mastery, and I go for a hybrid build like gunblade rageblade. What does gathering storm give me, and how is the calculation done? Does it give me a mix of both or like, it calculates how much ap and ad I built, and chose the biggest number (with maybe a coefficient cause ad is worth more gold than ap), or calculates phys. and magic dmg dealt and gives me a bonus to only AD or AP?

If you have slightly more AD with your build it will give you AD, if you have slightly more AP it'll give you AP even if its like a difference of one it will give you the one you have more of. The tech for Adaptive was built off of Camille's passive so its crazy accurate

With the exception that Camille's passive is about the damage done, while rune's is about damage built(just in case some are confused).

If AP = AD then split?

Adaptive Force shifts into either AD or AP depending on which stat is higher through items built during the match.

10 Adaptive Force becomes either 10 AP or 6 AD.

So if you have JUST a Blasting Wand (40 AP) and a Pickaxe (25 AD) -> You will gain 10 AP from your adaptive force.

Your bonus AD and AP are even OR are 0 each, Riot has pre-assigned which stat you will obtained based on the champion.

Chances are, if you're a champion whose damage relies on basic attacks, total/bonus AD scaling is greater than AP scaling the Adaptive Force will shift to bonus AD. And vice versa.
